Tim Miller Talks Leaving Deadpool 2, The Goon Movie, & Goes Comic Book Shopping

- In a new episode of Comic Book Shopping, we’re joined by Deadpool director and Blur Studios co-founder Tim Miller to talk comics, his career, leaving Deadpool 2, an encouraging update on The Goon movie, and his next project. If you like comics and celebrity interviews, this is your show. Each week we’re joined by a new guest, who hits up a local comic book shop with host Jon Schnepp and peruses the wares while also discussing their career, upcoming projects, and of course their favorite comic books.
In this week’s episode, Schnepp and Tim Miller venture to Miller’s local shop Comic Bug in Culver City, where they discuss how Miller got his career started, how he founded the visual effects, animation, and design company Blur Studios, and his early work creating unforgettable cut scenes for video games like DC Universe Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Miller also reveals how he landed the job of directing Deadpool, the long road to finally getting the movie made, and briefly touches on his exit from Deadpool 2.
During the conversation, Miller also gives a tantalizing update on The Goon movie that he’s been developing for years, saying there’s going to be an announcement soon and teasing their take on the movie (hint: it’s Goodfellas meets Army of Darkness). Miller also says he hopes to be shooting a new “big movie” next year, which may or may not be a new Terminator film.

Or they have a research squad spam calling agents like any other corporation. They are in hollywood, but im sure they don't know all these people.

Agreed. Tim Miller is the fucking man! So honest and real. There's no room for bs with him. Wish everyone in the industry was like this. Really wish he at least stayed as an executive producer for the future of Deadpool:/ Can't wait to see what he does next tho!

EVERY EPISODE GETS BETTER AND BETTER. Credit to everyone working on the show but particularly Schnepp whose energy/passion just pops right out the screen. No matter the guest, the whole series is elevated because of him

As someone who inherited Jack Kirby hand-me-down Thor,Spider-Man,and Doctor Strange comics, and who has been working at a video game/toy/comic-store for over 2.5 years and started not even knowing what a pull-list or "current/silver bags & boards" even were, I am loving this series more and more every episode. I can't tell you how much I relate to that cashier. "Is this is it?" "Ready for the damage?" "You saved THIS much...ready for the total now?" My comic customers are my favorite. Shop local if you can, people. You will build incredible relationships :)

The Comic Bug is run by some of the most awesome, knowledgable, and genuine guys I've ever encountered in retell, let alone comics. Support that store, because those guys deserve it.
Shout out to Dennis, man. His direction turns what should be a pretty normal and boring video about someone just buying comics, and turns into a fast paced show with awesome camera movements and the like. Keep it up!!

Always love the intros for these shows. Slow-mo plus the music makes Schnepp look super badass. Also, never knew Tim Miller was such a down to earth bad ass, no wonder Deadpool was so great.

I never realized just how incredible Blur studios were. I've seen those Old Republic and Dc Universe online trailers like a billion times.
This has to be the best episode. Get more guys like Tim Miller to do the show, as in real sweaties. The other guys you had on looked like they had never read a comic book since they were 12.

You guys strike gold again! Collider puts out a lot of great content but this show is my favorite. I haven't collected comics since I was a kid but watching this gets me amped up to go to a legit comic book store. The show is great when you've got so/so comic fans hanging out with Schnepp but Tim Miller took it to a whole notha level. Keep working hard. Love the show!

I love this video! I started reading comics around 1967-68 and started buying from my local comic book store in the early 80s until a spinal cord injury made it so I couldn't read comics any longer in 94. CBM's are dream come true for me. I love watching you sweat Jon and I own your movie about Tim Burton's Superman! You rock Jon, & Tim seems like an awesome dude!

I knew by reading reports that Tim Miller was a huge comic book fan but this video gives me new perspective on the matter. I think he was 50% responsible for what Deadpool ended up being (the other 50% being Ryan) and I can't help but think he was really f***ed over by someone when he should have directed the second one too. Oh well, we shall see how it turns out.
