- 2010 Concrete Wave Evolutions DVD - Bustin Boards: Push Culture Longboarding NYC.
Here is the full length Bustin Boards episode from the 2010 Evolutions DVD featuring the full line of boards from Bustin Brooklyn and our NYC family of longboarders. Push Culture Longboarding is about the euphoria of skating in an interactive environment such as a big city, small town or college campus and this mini-documentary sets out to capture that feeling from the riders who live it everyday in New York City. Longboarding in the Big Apple is unlike anything you'll ever experience and with the ever-expanding network of bike paths it is becoming safer and safer everyday. Follow the Bustin Crew as they skate the city and talk about how they got into longboarding, what its like to longboard in New York City and where they think longboarding is going.
After you watch the video, read the article that inspired it. Created by Mike Dallas and Rob Perry, this article was written for Concrete Wave magazine in the Spring of 2010 and openeded the minds of people around the world the Push Culture style of longboarding and the growth of longboarding in New York City. Bustin Boards urges riders to wear helmets. Just like everything, wearing a helmet is a personal choice and while some of the longboarders in our crew choose not to, most of us do! Please skate responsibly and always wear a helmet.
About Bustin TH-cam: Bustin Boards is a family made up of hundreds of longboarders in NYC and thousands more around the world. We wanted our TH-cam page to be real, meaning our videos are made by the skaters for the skaters. Not all of our videos feature our official team riders nor are they always shot and edited by professional videographers. Instead, we invite our friends and customers to send us their videos to show the real side of the streets and the creative ideas of regular people. We even invite people to our NYC longboard store to use one of our HD cameras and in-shop editing computers. As a result our videos show a range of skating style and levels, but always represent the unique perspective of the longboarder. Our only requirement is that its fun to watch and we try super hard to abide by that. If you make a sick video and think it would be a good fit on our TH-cam page and/or website, send it through and join the family. One Love Bustin Longboarding Family.

I used to skateboard back in middle/high school and gave it up for awhile after moving to the city, but I saw the Broadway Bomb back in 2010 on my way to work and sparked my interest. Got a Bustin Complex today and I love it. I spent all day just skating around the city and it's better than any form of transportation in the city. NYC is a tricky beast, but it offers a fun challenge and there are some damn good spots.
I love it.
I got my first board last October. I live in Nashville and around here, there's hardly any people that skate, let alone longboard. This Sunday, for the first time since I got into longboarding, I actually saw someone else that wasn't someone I knew who was using one of my boards, riding a longboard. I was overcome with joy.
About five or six of my friends have gone out and bought boards since I got mine. It's infectious. I've even made a few myself. :)
It's crazy how much Bustin has changed since then. Thumbs up if you still have the original Maestro!
you guys are great. i love my maestro
i even converted my team from sector nine, arbor, and original skateboards to bustin because they liked my maestro so much! keep riding
You just have to love it!
A girl on a longboard is sweet, sweet harmony!
I broke my s9 doing hippie jumps and just ordered an ibach the other day I can't wait for it to get here. I love how you can completely customize your own board on the bustin site it's awesome.
I'm buying my first ever Bustin board next month (the Spliff)! I can totally relate to you guys with the whole big city riding becuase I live in Madrid, Spain. It definiteley makes it much more fun when you have to skate around obstacles on the street or the sidewalk. Keep skating and drop by Europe soon!
excellent video! makes me love being from NY. Riding original skateboards right now, my starter board. With some practice and more riding under my belt, I will deff look into getting a BUSTIN!
yeah man I'm hooked too now. I've started skatboarding about 6 years ago. Recently my friends talked me into getting a longboard.Since then been carving! hahaha
i looooove longboarding. it pretty much saves me.
i wish i had friends like this.
Wicked vid. Love that you guys got some John Butler towards the end there...cruisy song (Daniella). Getting my Bustin soon, pumped.
Oh that's sick..
I'm so eager to go to NYC one day
Awesome video, awesome soundtrack.
the thing about skating in new york city is pedestrians are in the street as well as the sidewalk, they walk when it's not their crosslight, etc. they do get in the way
the thing i love seeing about push culture nowadays is that girls are getting more into it than ever. having guys longboarding is sick, but to see girls go out and shred is actullay unbelievable.
3:05 shoes match his set-up beautifully
best way to skate super fast and in the middle of the street
That was a really good job! keep on!
love the intro.
CAN'T WAIT!!....I'm going to the city to by a longboard for my 18TH BIRTHDAYY soon.
then of course I'm going clubbing ;D
Emerald City coming for the bomb! Sweet video!
thumbs up if you could watch this repeatedly all day!! "P
the guy holding the bus at 5:55 i saw him in central park yesterday longboarding while i was longboarding
man now i need to go to new york!!!!!!!! :D
when they were talking about why they ride, i share the same view. Chicago push culture
@Glidefishlongboards thanks for that man
That dog at 4:00 made me lol
@182mellowman It can be done. Depending on your weight and bushing setup, you should be able to make it work. The great Theseus Williams rolls 75s in the back and usually 70s up front, but there's more clearance in the front than the back, so it shouldn't be a problem.
sick!!!
SIck shit guys. Coming up from Florida to stay with some fam in Manhattan. Might want to ride with some people!
we need a longboard community in england and bristol
tough decision, id say go with the bustin maestro fiberglass, or the bustin boombox
No Mike D speaking? bummer are you guys going to be at ASR again in january? Skateacrossusa is spreading the Bustin stoke in LA as best we can hope to get back in contact with you guys again soon.
yeah im now stuck between the apex 40 and a bustin board
well................
New york!!! here i come ;D
its been a while an i figure id just say that i got the maestro and in a few days my boombox will arrive. but i still want to get the apex 37 or 40. great recommendation though
i guess i dont ride in new york so i dont really know what its like but i think they should for sure skate with respect i mean it kinda gives the rest of us a bad name. but im just glad to see other peeps out skatin its an awesome life :)

Hey, wat are the names of some of the spots you guys sk8 the most, cuz i would really like to skate with you guys when i come up this summer.
@MrKokuchi

Hi, i really want a maestro! But it's pretty much money so im wondering if it will flex good and carve good for me? My weight is 92,4 ibs and im 1,60 tall. And will the randal 180 trucks be good for my weight? Thanks :)

what kind of board does that guy have at 6:47
where can I buy the DVD?
yeh bustins the best
sick fuckin vid
so much respect
Yeah I agree with you Rapiddom. That was a jerky move on the skateboarder to freak the dog and man out on the sidewalk. As I whole heartedly agree people in NY can be oblivious and lack spacial awareness. Its infuriating. Along with crazy drivers and the traffic in NYC. If we want to enhance push culture, walking culture, bike culture and local transportation. We need to respect everyone on the path. I'm down for alternative transport and zero cars. But everyone needs to respect each other.
whats the first and second songs?
definetly get a busin, not a fanboy...i have a loaded ceviche, original apex 37, and a bustin strike.Bustin is cheaper, comparable quality, and so much funner.
Yo the six dislikes gotta be cab drivers
i dont think we have any enemies but we work throughout our enemies? wait what?
@bustinboards Oops, I didn't mean to post all of those comments, I couldn't decide on one haha. But seriously, you shouldn't talk like you invented longboarding or refer to cars and pedestrians as "obstacles always getting in the way" or "with on a vendetta" or whatever you said. It does make longboarders in general look like assholes which given some of us are, isn't true. and yes, my username is awesome. I love the fallout series.
Spliff homie.
hey guys i would like to know the name of the girl in your crew thats from venezuela ! im from venezuela too and hit newyork every year ! sea como te llame pasame tu numero a ver si se cuadra una session por newyork!
stuck between the idea of a bustin, loaded and an original
@jmjack156 bustin will get you street rep, loadeds tend not to last in a quiver, and originals will get you snickers
maybe these 8 dislikes are the real skaters who appreciate skate history... we throw down shit, bust our ass's and break bones and tear ligament and muscles then we come across this shit and it really becomes frustrating for ppl like me to see our skate culture destroyed by the long board epidemic... it jus keeps spreading and spreading 😑smh
+King Kam lul someone's butt-hurt
I jus dont want our skate culture to be fucked up by longboards
@MrKokuchi BOOOOOOO!!!
nice shiz
Agreed. I skateboarded and cycled long before driving a car, but when I started driving I realized I was annoyed by cyclists and skaters too. Yet once I'm on a skateboard or a bike the cars and pedestrians are the annoying ones. And also when I'm walking, every non-walker is also annoying. It's like he said in this video, it's like "moving meditation" and when people are moving differently than you, it distracts the meditation. But it's never personal.
no offense i longboard myself but i havent lived in nyc but pedestrians get in the way? you make it seem the longboarders owns the roads or something. all im saying is you gots to respect ppl and stuff or they're never gonno respect or even at least be on good terms at all and give boarders a bad name jus saying. but overall the vid is sick. i like the intensity of the video it has that Z-Boys attitude and aspect. but remember just respect things. Noone is better then the other
skating in ny is killer. the cyclists are self-centered, the drivers love to swear, and the peds are moving in slow motion. ironically, the cab drivers know what they're doing ha
"It's SO intense I might HIT A CRACK IN THE ROAD!!!!!" Lol Come on really..........
you guys really need to learn how to board slideee.
you guys need to actually go faster.
Ive seen a few of you dudes skating around.
i always blow past you dudes.
on my super short board.
no you don't
YEA SKIP! K.O.Y.S. in the buillin. still have to avenge my watch and get that 3shuv down for you
helmets on kids
hahahahaha
FUCK YES BLACKALICIOUS @4:40
man i cant stop posting on this video this video is sick dont get me wrong but maybe im looking to deeply onto but this video is also making me sick that im a longboarder from the attitude of the speakers of the video you say pedestrians are annoying and stuff but you guys are not that much better especially when you guys cut that guy off at 3:34 and he was giving the blinker you guys are giving impressions of being douches you say one thing about one group but you are not that much better
walkings for suckers ha
Cyclists have it tough i am sorry but they are faster than cars in the city but we get so much hate from everyone.
Most longboarders I see in NYC push mongo at snail speed on 300$ downhill setups...I love and respect skateboarding in all its forms (including long boards), but this "push culture" thing is idiotic.
kook fest
sick fuckin vid
so much respect
