    This is probably what most people wanted to see, good job guys. I also neglected to mention that I brought my passport and other legal documents in case we had to travel past checkpoints or other potentially government regulated areas.

      The wax that I mention is Ear Wax. Mark was too chicken to leave it in the vid, haha.

    At the beginning the first guy mentions having a small day pack in conjunction with his BOB bag.
    The Karrimor SF bag that the second guy uses has the British PLCE side pouches that can detach and attach to their own yolk to make a small back pack (knicknamed a "rocket pack").

    Will you guys ever do another series like this? Maybe a winter bug out? I loved the series and good gear! What branch were you in when you were in the military?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Army. We did a winter Bugout last year that's not been edited, and we are filming a winter video in two weeks. If it is to be a winter Bugout you will have to talk the BladeHQ guys into doing a Bugout as opposed to just a winter camping video. I'm personally all about it, but it's not really up to me. There are many more Bugout videos on this channel that you should go check out. The desert, urban, and original Bugout initially come to mind. Thanks!

      TJack I'll definitely have to check those out! I asked which branch because my bestfriend is graduating from the marines later this month. A winter bug out video seems really cool also. Thanks for your service!

    TJack Good tip on the 2nd bag for camp. I love the HL50. What antenna is that on the Baofeng?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a home made Titanium antenna made by Mr Bateman who runs Hamstudy.org. Email him and he can ship you one. They're 20 bucks and almost indestructible!

    • @OutdoorManly
      @OutdoorManly 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an awesome antennae. You can tie it in knots, and it still retains its original shape.

    As a different weapon option might I suggest a lever action in a pistol caliber. .38/.357 or .44 mag would be my preference, small to medium game no prob. Larger game could be taken with good placement. Then a .22 pistol or .22 conversion kit. Would be hard to hit a moving target but there are other ways to catch food.

    MREs last forever? Try a few months in hot weather. Most civilian MREs sold are several months old by the time you get them. Even when within editable life they will run through you like a freight train unless your gut is use to them.
    I had my fair share of them mountain house for me

  • @saltnpreppers
    @saltnpreppers 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm unsure that strops provide "sharpening" capabilities. it doesn't rebend or remove steel from the bevel with any amount of hardness. it DOES remove participants from whatever you were cutting and pull off clinging metal particles from sharpening -the final step of sharpening. But I'm unsure that it "sharpens" itself.

  • @Rocky1765
    @Rocky1765 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Actually, plastic as with most things, do break down from direct sunlight. Take a long time? YES, but it does break down.

  • @redriverscout4404
    @redriverscout4404 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a thought from my own experience. I would ditch the newer plastic military canteen for an older metal one. WIth the plastic one you need to carry something else in your pack just to boil water and to me at least seemed counter intuitive. Sure the plastic keeps the water cold but I am much more willing to suck it up and drink warmish water then carry yet more weight and bulk.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a Heavy Cover Titanium one now. I was using an Army one because that's what I've used for years. You use what you have.

    • @redriverscout4404
      @redriverscout4404 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TJack Nice. I agree. You use what you have. That is why I used a plastic one for years too. But as I mentioned I found the insulating benefit just did not make sense versus the loss in practicality. Now I am using actually an aluminium canteen and mess kit set I got for a song in an antique shop of all places. They were issued to the Russian VDV airborne in the old soviet days are is super light and has many of the benefits of metal canteens. How is the Titanium? I have only used stainless and aluminium.

    • @Thewowchamp408
      @Thewowchamp408 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I completely agree with you, I'd love to watch an hour long video on this type of stuff. But, unfortunately, most youtube channels won't make them that long, because the majority of people aren't as willing like us. So it would obviously hurt their view count if they made it that long. Although, if they'd release a shorter, cut, version, and then a longer, uncut, version, I think it'd be beneficial to them and the viewers

      Thanks for posting guys. There is a fine balance between giving ideas, advertising for BladeHQ and providing enough content for the editors to make a decent video. I'm doing a winter video with BHQ this month. I'll see if I can put a bag video that's long on my personal TJack video afterwards. I can't be posting anything that undercuts the KnifeHQ video though.
      Either way I'll post some long discussion and gear related videos on my TJack channel here for you guys in the next month or so. Ty

    It's amazing how rather than focusing on everyday life or addressing todays issues so many people plan for an end whats worse is they hope for it to come to be what happened other countries wanted to be like ours at one time now it a joke compared to the once grand opportunity

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @AlaskanFrontier1
    @AlaskanFrontier1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    These contents aren't bad for what they are doing, but to anyone wanting to live long term in the woods, don't bring most of this stuff. Because when you live real long term you need to make sure all your gear is sustainable and non-complex such as steel cookware instead of water filtration devices, or recurve bows instead AR-15's.

    • @AlaskanFrontier1
      @AlaskanFrontier1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outdoor Manly saw you comment and wanted to say your plan is a tad out there. If I can stalk and kill a deer @15yrds with my recurve what makes you think I couldn't get you at the same range?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bring the good stuff until you make the sustainable local stuff. Keep the good stuff in reserve until needed. Example bring MRE's and eat what you hunt. Then you have MTE's just in case. It's all about having the knowledge to be sustainable more than the gear, but the gear helps.

    • @AlaskanFrontier1
      @AlaskanFrontier1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TJack
      Well I would rather use that weight and space to bring things like a Hook Knife or additional ammo, etc

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      AlaskanFrontier1 I Agree. But you didn't see the gear the outfitter had. Only our personal gear which was limited and weight restricted. Honestly I'd take my muzzle loader and equipment to melt and make ammo and gun powder. The scenario was to come on onto an already existing setup for long term. Given that your personal kit should include pre cached equipment so that your on your person gear, shouldn't weigh to much. Heavy axes, saws, reloading equipment, extra socks, winter clothing, boots, and stuff like that should be pre cashed. There's the ideal situation then there's what you own when SHTF. So it all depends. On the crooked/hook/draw knife. I'll demo one as soon as BHQ carries one. I can't demo gear unless they sell it. I am limited by this restriction.

    • @AlaskanFrontier1

    What's the deal with people's fire kits man? Yeah ferro rods and flint and steel is cool but BIC lighters weight nothing and work forever. Throw six or ten of those in your bag and save the other stuff as backups.

    • @agimasoschandir
      @agimasoschandir 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bic lighters may not work when wet, known to work poorly in colder temperatures, and do not last forever. What happens when the lighter is emptied, does it become left behind and thus part of your presence?

    • @LudosLP

      Agimaso Schandir Yesterday I have a big training unity outside and after that, we, my brother and me, wanted to make us sone tea with my E.O.E. Lithium and we need nearly 3-5 Minutes to start the Bic Lighter and today I tested, it isn't out of gas. Additional it may had to be said, that yesterday it has 0 or less degree C! :D (We're living in German,... worse weapon laws here!)! :D

    Why would you bug out into the wilderness instead of heading to unaffected civilization?

      Because the simulated catastrophe is so large that no civilization is unaffected.

    • @RonJohn63
      @RonJohn63 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TJack Simulated?
      Anyway, a catastrophe so large that *no* civilization is unaffected will also affect the wilderness that you run away into.

      TJack What???????

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +RonJohn63 let me Barney it down. If all local civilizations are so smashed up that you need to flee from them, then no matter how negatively affected the local wilderness is, it will still be a better option than staying in a run down smashed up city with desperate hungry people. Especially in this specific area. Because of the crazy amount of large game, the abundance of fresh water, and the incredible remoteness of the whole thing.
