I'm a graduate of Trinity Laban (2013) and about to graduate from RCSSD - the process has changed so much since I auditioned!!! I would agree 100%; they want to see the real YOU. I remember just being so relaxed and felt like I was interviewing the panel; than THEM interviewing me! Good luck in your training. xox
hey, because your a graduate of trinity laban, I was wondering if you need to to play an instrument in order to apply like is that one of the requirements of the course and also is composition and music theory a big aspect of the course too?
Heya I just realised I commented last year. I have my trinity Laban audition on Tuesday and honestly I’m rather nervous. I’ve been ill so my voice isn’t fab so worried about that part and also they ask you to prepare a dance solo, I am not the most experienced dancer and my teacher only put one together on Thursday this week and am struggling to learn it. Do you think I should prepare a routine I have done previously and just make it a solo as this is causing my brain to explode slightly and I know I shouldn’t let it! Many thanks 😊 Emma xx

Ahh don’t stress 😊 you’ll be absolutely fine :)) So you do the dance call and from my experience, they only ask to see your solo if you haven’t got dance grades (so they can’t automatically assume the training you’ve had) or like if they can’t remember you from the dance call so they want to see you dance again. It was rare that they asked to see your solo so if it’s causing you extra stress then really don’t let it! As long as you perform through the movement and it shows that you can move - this will be fine! Also if you really are ill then you can always reschedule but the panel are professionals and will be able to tell if you’re not on top form so just try not to worry about it! Best of luck X

I haven’t got dance grades but hopefully if I go for it in the dance call it will be okay! I’m gonna keep my date as it is just so I get into the audition routine as I then have mountview on Thursday! Your video definitely calmed me down a lot so Thank you so much! Xxx
Hi :) as far as I know you don't need any grades to get into any schools - some of them ask you if you have them but they mainly judge you on your dance ability on the audition day! I'd say ideally you need to be familiar with Jazz exercises like Leaps, Kicks, Turns, Tendus and Pliés and then you'll be able to feel really confident in the dance call at the audition :) Some schools also do a Ballet class X
Hannah Rose Hey, I can’t actually remember!! It definitely says on their website what they would like you to prepare so have a look :) All I know is that when they said two contrasting songs I had my contemporary MT and a Legit ballad but if it doesn’t specify then you could probably take a good pop song or something! If you’re unsure after checking out the website maybe send them an email or something to check! X

Don't panic :) I have a video on finding monologues that you may find helpful!! th-cam.com/video/yzor2lXnJPY/w-d-xo.html My monologue was Rosie's Opening from Things I Know To Be True :) It can be really frustrating trying to find the "perfect" monologue because in reality I think it probably doesn't exist :/ just try and find something that you connect with and really enjoy performing! Ellen James Hey! There was about 50 people altogether which got split in half for the whole day. And then I’m not sure about the second part, maybe around 15 they said they didn’t need to see again and then everyone else had a time slot to come back and be seen individually :) don’t quote me on that though X
