Most people do not seem to realise that we have an absolutely sublime songwriter still alive. Bob Dylan cannot be described in just a few trite words. He is to music what William Shakespeare is to Literature. An amazing lyrical genius. God bless you Bob.

I just turned 18 years old yesterday, and as of today, only have a month left of my senior year of high school. I've spent the other 3 years of my high school years homeschooled, and afraid of the outside world. This last year I made it a point to go back to school and try to get out of my shell. This was the best year of my life so far. I joined a sport I'd never tried and stuck with it, made amazing friends I've seen daily, and even got a girlfriend. I hope life treats me well, and that I'll stay friends with the wonderful people I've come to love. I know life is what you make of it, and that before I know it, I'll be in my 60s wondering where the time went; so because of that, I'm going to try and experience this world the best I can, free of embarrassment or angst. I hope to stay " forever young". PS. I teared up writing this ha-ha.

We lost our 18yr old in a car accident in 2010. Earlier on in the night he died, I was watching a show on tv about old people forming a choir in which they performed a great version of this song. He was playing around with his younger siblings in the room beside me. For me it will forever be his song.

He did write it and we should be thankful for it. He is our Nobel Laureate and one of our country's greatest song writers. Yes, we have Porter, Gerschwinn, Arlen and many others. But none better than Dylan in his time. I'm fortunate to have experienced not just his magnificicent writing but his performances. He is one of our country's greatest gifts.

I know. I've never ever liked a cover of Dylan better than his originals. It's so strange to me that the covers are often more popular. His voice just has so much more soul than just about anyone else.
Agreed, but Dylan himself has acknowledged that certain people have taken his work and improved upon it, most notably Jimi Hendrix. Dylan said "It overwhelmed me, really. He had such talent, he could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them. He found things that other people wouldn't think of finding in there. He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using. I took license with the song from his version, actually, and continue to do it to this day."

They played this song at my good friend and fellow police officer Mark Barnes funeral. He dropped dead aged 29 in 2003 while out jogging with fellow officers. He was one of the nicest lads I've ever met and a great police officer. I was one of the four people who carried his coffin along with two of his brothers. One of the saddest days of my life. R. I. P Mark only the good die young my friend.

Omg! If I was a teacher, I would give them to select at least 3 songs at minimum.
I would also instruct them to explore Cat Stevens . So many artists, unrecognized geniuses.

Congratulations and well done Mr. Bob Dylan, for being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for your wonderful poetry and music from the 60's even though to now, trying to get people to live together in peace, just accept one another as we are!
