these are kids that spent two weeks with each other learning from professionals in the business. they’re friends or, if there’s any drama, they know they’re being viewed by every eye in the industry during that moment
The industry aspect you’re referring to applies more to the Jimmy Awards (the national high school musical theater competition). The winners from our regional Blumey Awards competition go on the the Jimmy’s - but we do not invite agents to our specific sessions/rehearsals/program.
saffie girl I’m pretty sure it’s because she won the Jimmy’s... The Blumey’s is a regional competition that’s the level below the Jimmy’s, meaning that you have to win the regional competition where you live to make to to the Jimmy’s.
I think it would be hard to go to school with these women because if you were in the singing or musical theater departments, you would never get any lead roles, they would.
I know this video isn’t just about Renee, and all the people in this video are so talented, but I really liked seeing Renee do a totally different character than Regina. It really shows her flexibility as an actress
Charlotte My suspicion, based with working on local / regional HS theatre awards, is the mics are shared so this was the easiest solution to get performers quickly set up and not require an audio tech during their hair and makeup process.
a tape and go situation after they are ready is a safer bet, why make the process more complicated and risk technical issues when it's hardly necessary for the competition.
nala beans you probably don’t care anymore but they do this a lot in more professional theatre settings especially for women. It’s something to do with the way we sing that it picks it up better I think. Most broadway productions I’ve seen do it like this
im really confused so what's the difference between the jimmy awards and the blumey awards like I know that there like two different things but are they like connected idk . . . can someone please explain this to me
There are a bunch of regional programs like The Blumey Awards around the country! The Best Actress and Best Actor winners from each program go on to The Jimmy Awards!
Izzy CB it says it in the beginning but okay. Here's the musicals (in order of appearance): Into the Woods(bakers wife), Cinderella(Fairy Godmother), Into the woods(witch), Big Fish(Sandra Bloom), Aida (Aida)and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Sally) :)
I completely agree. She was missing the fire, pain, and passion that are required of that song. And she didn’t belt that last note which I found very strange.
MacersTheBoss no i saw her performance it was great and she deserved the win and was way better than her competition here as well,, she’s great leave her out of the picture & i just don’t think these other ladies stepped up to the plate. like i said they all have amazing voices,, acting wise it was all very disappointing. Renee’s finalist solo at the Jimmys was amazing , very different than what you can see up here
I think the witch and Renee smashed actually! The first note Renee sane I was hooked and wanting to cry, you can see it in her face. Her voice is so soulful and that one riff she does kills me, you just note she won lol after that riff
I love how even these girl are competing against each other for an award they are still performing great together, and seem genuinely happy.
Rylie Patrick my sister performed for these and says they were REALLY fun, so it’s genuine

Blumenthal Performing Arts oops, my mistake! i was on a jimmy awards binge and assumed lol
People is coming just 'cause Reneé Is here...
I'm that people.
The girl who did Big Fish is now Regina George on Broadway. The Blumeys can catapult you into the stratosphere!
saffie girl I KNEW SHE WAS FIMILIAR
It was the Jimmy Awards that catapult her career...
I thought I recognised her
saffie girl I’m pretty sure it’s because she won the Jimmy’s... The Blumey’s is a regional competition that’s the level below the Jimmy’s, meaning that you have to win the regional competition where you live to make to to the Jimmy’s.
I KNEW SHE LOOKED FAMILIAR!!
they’re all so good, but reneé has such a big stage presence
The girl who did the witch has a certain Bernadette Peters quality about her in gestures, facial expressions and vocal style.
The future looks bright for these musical theatre performers!
Julian mccleary reneé rapp, who performed the song from big fish and won, is now on broadway as regina george!
When theatres are able to open again lol
@@MadameCorgi yeah except the fact how mean girls is not coming back to broadway
The backing vocals at 5:05 are SOOOOO good. They all sound great together, throughout the whole performance. That moment in particular stood out tho
Reneè...just an amazing performance. On a whole another level than the rest of the performances, even though all them were outstanding.
ok but the witch had such a good voice
I loved how she acted as well !
Renee's face from 1:33 - 1:39 is how I feel when someone starts to try to convince me that climate change isn't real
you can tell renee is special because her stage presence is incredible, despite the fact that she's wearing the most demure costume
Am I the only one that can see Renee and Safiatou being a phenomenal Campbell and Danielle in Bring It On?
And the girl who sang Cinderella as Eva!!!!
yesssss safi is the best
how how HOW did the judges CHOOSE oh my god. the TALENT. these women are INCREDIBLE.
The witch was amazing
acting wise the last girl got it. voice wise the girl who played the witch got it. Renee got everything!!
You could see the other girls tearing up during Renee's performance. Phenomenal!
4:59 dang that riff is gorgeous
The girl with the braids had such a short part I wanted to hear a little more of her voice
GabbyisCrAzy ? Girl you don’t even knowwww
Imagine going to school with one of these amazing women
I did and it was really sweet honestly so much talent!
@@ericaclarke5203 who??
I went to school with Reneé. So I had the pleasure of seeing her in Big Fish before she was in Mean Girls.
I think it would be hard to go to school with these women because if you were in the singing or musical theater departments, you would never get any lead roles, they would.
I wish there was something like this for musical theatre in my area.
I thought the Cinderella girl's voice was phenomenal. Such character and confidence. Broadway ready to me.
I love how everyone's going nuts when each of them start their part.
Also, this video called me a loser 6 times over.
Came for renee, stayed for all the other amazing preformers!
Holy shit, Renee Rapp
This is so extra, I love it
Holy *shit* they’re all good
5:11 those soft notes are amazing
I saw Renee and went: “OMG YES YES YESSSSSSSSSSSS”
Renée Rapp is really THAT good
I know this video isn’t just about Renee, and all the people in this video are so talented, but I really liked seeing Renee do a totally different character than Regina. It really shows her flexibility as an actress
The girl who did big fish gave me chills
You probably know already but she’s actually on broadway playing Regina George in mean girls
@Mariana Fernandez that's the joke-
I was at this performance. I remember watching Renee specifically because I thought she was phenomenal😭
Ayeee Renee. Representing NWSA😘
the girl who played the witch was AMAZING ❤️
The girl in the blue was the best in my opinion
Hailey Drippen she is Regina George on Broadway now! Since she was 19 (she just turned 20)! So crazy
@@izzy1157 I know I saw it earlier this morning that is crazy
Well, she did win
I go to college with Sarah Ann and she is PHENOMENAL!! And has grown so much!!!! But all the ladies here did an amazing job ❤️
okay but the orchestra is so cool
I'm a simple girl. I see renee in the thumbnail, I click
wow i came across this at 2:30 am this is amazing
renee’s voice is so mature
Skimming through my recommended and I almost thought the blond in the thumbnail was Busy Phillips.
And now Busy Phillips is playing her (Reneé Rapp's) character's mother in Mean Girls 2024!
I had to wear the same corset when i did Romeo and Juliet.
Sarah Ann's Baker's Wife made me start crying 😭 I love this song
5:05 THE HARMONY!!!!!!!!
3:52 HELLO
Shoutout to the one who played Sandra for an underrated performance
She actually won this competition and the Jimmy’s (the national one) and is on broadway as Regina George in mean girls!
@@lucyy.5694 That's amazing!!
omg reneé really has never not served a day in her life
Accurate
Love her!! ❤❤
Reneé is Regina George on broadway!!!
i aspire to wow the crowds like they did
when she said "I'm leaving you alone," it hit different...
AMAZING!
That costume change though....
and now renee is on broadway that’s so crazy to think about
I thought the thumbnail was SNL performers.. lmao
Oh they bodied that
Renee rapp and Sherrie rene Scott now!
the witch was. so good
yeah, but why re their mics OVER their hair
Charlotte My suspicion, based with working on local / regional HS theatre awards, is the mics are shared so this was the easiest solution to get performers quickly set up and not require an audio tech during their hair and makeup process.

Can someone tell me from which musicals??

Very Very Cool - 👍 👍 🔧 -
Ok but who won
Hannah Roberson JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT THAT! Someone answer!
The IntergalacticDemonUnicorn RENEE RAPP. SHE ALSO WON THE NHSMTA JIMMIES
Isaiah Burwell GOOD
the girl in the blue dress
The IntergalacticDemonUnicorn renneé Rapp from big fish
Renee seems more like a Cady
If you go to a non-magnet school can you still possibly win this?
Absolutely!
A mnbais
The Aida was so very underwhelming 😕
I hate that because aida is my dream role and I don’t believe she did it justice.
Maci Dismuke which one was Aida sorry I don’t know
Misha Collins the girl with the braids
I completely agree. She was missing the fire, pain, and passion that are required of that song. And she didn’t belt that last note which I found very strange.
good voices but they were all bad actors
Taylor LeeAnn okay brenda let’s see you do better??
MacersTheBoss frankly with the way these ladies performed i could
Taylor LeeAnn i mean renee literally won the jimmy awards but go off sis!¡
MacersTheBoss no i saw her performance it was great and she deserved the win and was way better than her competition here as well,, she’s great leave her out of the picture & i just don’t think these other ladies stepped up to the plate. like i said they all have amazing voices,, acting wise it was all very disappointing.
