I'd love to see you do this! Great video as always! :)
The multiple padded bags is better than the packing I usually see: The computer tossed into a too-large box that's barely sealed with cello tape and is going to rattle around during its entire journey. You'd have to roll over that thing with a car to damage it packed with the padded bags and it's much less expensive to ship than in an oversized box, too.

Luke, get rid of that 2011 MBP now and don’t buy them! lol. they ALL have graphics card issues. if it’s running now, it won’t be running soon. This is why you can find so many of them online. cyril dieudonné If it’s running now, that doesn’t mean it has been running for 8 years. A lot of these things have been reflowed to work (temporary) just enough to sell on ebay and the seller get away with it before it dies. 2010 had GPU failures also but not at the same rate as quad core i7 cpus paired with nvidia g chips. they ran SO HOT it killed the GPUs. the 2011s failed so bad that apple was forced to release a repair program all the way till December 2016 to repair them. That’s how serious that was. Know your information.

to get really bobblehead on this, you can tell it's at least 2011 because the photos show a thunderbolt icon by the display port, and the launchpad key means it's at least late 2011, as early 2011 still had the dashboard key

well... I work for a video game company, and use my laptop at work. I work like 70+ hours per week on it. My laptop is a 2010 macbook pro 13, bought in the EU. I had an issue with a shitty original battery which inflated and warped my frame, in 2013. I bought a cheap generic battery on taobao, as I live in Beijing, for about 17€. Thi machine is just working every single day since I bought it, even doing video editing (via proxies, of course). I never had a single failure. I only had to bump up the ram and replaec my HDD for un SSD. And voilà, that's it. I'm regularly thinking to replace it my a more modern machine, but always give up because... why? Why would I replace such a reliable tool. My gpu (geforce 320M) is weak asf but works fine. If you don't need a gaming machine, this one is perfectly fine. 9 year old laptop. I'm laughing now, when I see all the crappy issues new mac have. Price bumped and quality went down. Plus, my laptop has a DVD-CD burner combo drive. Real nice. 9 years later, only the battery and one of the four rubber feet failed me. Acceptable I would say... for 1200€ in 2010.
I just won a $56 “2010” 13” MBP. Only issue is a missing key and sticky trackpad. But I also noticed it has the late 2011 f4 launchpad key not the older. I think I scored a deal thanks for the tip on the key!!
In lieu of an available box, I'd say the seller did a great job to ensure the Macbook was protected during shipping. The number of bags and bubble wrap is fine, in my opinion. Also, the bags would have been easier to open had you used the scissor as a scissor and not just one edge to split the seams open. That seriously would have been much easier.

I'm watching this from my early 2011 A1278 that I bought for $180 from Craigslist. Same condition, even has MS Office installed for work. Upgraded to 16GB of RAM (from my stock) and a new battery...Really happy with it.
Caution: EFI locked macs will also display the folder icon if the disk has been removed. So be aware.
I got myself a sad early 2011 15" MacBook Pro logic board with a dead GPU and I'm doing to do a mod called the gMux Bypass to permanently disable the dGPU regardless of NVRAM settings - then I'm going to grab a display assembly, topcase, and everything else I need to build a fully working MacBook. I'd love to see you do this! Great video as always! :)
Laptop cleaning tutorial please!
Mike Oxlong yeah but there was no explanation of what he’s using, why, what products/chemicals are safe etc etc
Mike Oxlong why are you so salty
The multiple padded bags is better than the packing I usually see: The computer tossed into a too-large box that's barely sealed with cello tape and is going to rattle around during its entire journey. You'd have to roll over that thing with a car to damage it packed with the padded bags and it's much less expensive to ship than in an oversized box, too.
Probably stolen
QuadHawk8 facts lol
Probably not as the hard drive was removed.
@Alton Kilbourne "like I said before" lmao
Currently a junior at a University, this video is very helpful in terms of finding good deals, just wish I knew more about repairing tech stuff lol.
My 2009 MBP 13 inch has that battery connector. I'm sure it's a 2009, being a Core 2 Duo machine with 4GB RAM and 160GB HD
Really enjoy your videos haha. They are fun. Keep it up!
Thanks for dragging this video out enough for me to watch 10 commercials! We were the ones who were robbed....of our time.
He needs to get his money back haha
I swear, TH-cam premium has me spoiled. I had no idea this video had commercials, but I used to refuse to watch ones with them stuck in the middle. Videos that have that many commercials are only meant to clickbait for views, and the content is usually garbage.
i bought a 2012 macbook pro for 160 all it needed was new memory sticks and worked great
I need a good condition Macbook pro 2012 for iOS development .. i have 200 dollar ..Need atleast 256gb of ssd 16gb ram core i7
How many MacBooks does this guy need?
all of them.
Flip it for a profit while the video still works and put the money towards a newer one without defects.
What do you clean the MacBook with?
I came here looking for this answer too
Looks like something like de-solveit, citrus based cleaning product. Works wonders on glue left by labels/stickers also.
That’s so funny. I saw that exact same listing when I bought my MacBook Pro
Luke Miani holding the Macbook up with 1 hand:
-"This thing is in amazing condition, especially for the $200 price tag!" *DROPS ON GROUND* "NOOO MY TH-cam CONTENT!"
Love your channel Luke! Always look forward to your reviews
Luke, get rid of that 2011 MBP now and don’t buy them! lol. they ALL have graphics card issues. if it’s running now, it won’t be running soon. This is why you can find so many of them online. I used to be a lead apple tech (IT now) and I do the same thing you except I haven’t add youtube videos yet 😂. it’s interesting to see someone else do the same thing.
if it's running now, means it has been running for 8 years... lol... I'd say it's a pretty nice evidence that they aren't that shitty. I'd bet the gpu will be real fine for years. Mine is from 2010, and is very very fine
cyril dieudonné If it’s running now, that doesn’t mean it has been running for 8 years.
Lol I have a laptop older than this one and it still works like it's new and no faulty graphics. Ive been using it since 2010.. Maybe people ought to break their macbook pros on purpose
Alton Kilbourne or reflowed it. to fix would be 200 bucks. They wouldn’t invest that money to lose money on selling it.
I got a 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch for $50 dollars that wouldn’t turn on, I added a new battery and power cord for $60 so after $110 all in I sold it for $500! Great profit of $390
Did you guys know that if make a shepherds pie with beef instead of sheep, that it is then considered a cottage pie
why am I laughing with this comment?
No I did not. Thanks!
Nice job! You really know your stuff. I’m learning a lot by watching your channel. Keep up the great work😊
It literally says "Macbook Pro for parts"
this guy must be braindead if he didn't know what he was buying.
I like when youtubers take apart Apple devices without technical knowledge :)
As You have said, it flashed 5 times and it actually means the battery is low but not dead.
I like when You clean those devices and replace the heatpaste, or at least mention it. It can make a huge difference in performance and a lot of people dont know why are their Macs are getting slower by time.
I recently upgraded the Ram and HDD in my 2012 Mac book. And it works like new. I’ll easily get another 4-5 years out of it
what a shocking deal. legit price
Where did you get a genuine Apple battery for $25?
Used on eBay, it has about 125 cycles
@@lukemiani wow
Your videos are great for making us feel better about not being able to afford a new Mac
I got my 2012 13inch MacBook Pro for 20 bucks good condition but I put a 50 dollar 500 go ssd in there so 70 bucks MacBook
Max Balahura it is really good deal! Where did you get it?
MacBook water test
You know if you use the scissors properly it would cut the right way lol
I'm sure I got Déjà vu when you were talking about the GPU...
what did you use to clean that macbook's surface?
I second that question
@@Abomek i theird that question
i fourth that question
stormi j. I fifth that question 😁
Hey Luke, what do you think about these macs, are those good deals :
MacBook Pro Mid 2010 :
I5-540 M @ 2.53 GHz
8 GB ram
500 HDD ( will upgrade to a 70 $ 1 TB SSD)
Battery has only 234 cycles, seems to hold very well
Very good condition, but the hinge is a little bit loose
Price : 120 USD
VS
iMac 27 inch 2011
I5-2400
8 GB ram
1 TB HDD
1 GB graphics
Price 190 USD
In generally good condition but the display was replaced by university tech and the HDD temperature sensor seems to not work ( need an adapter)
*Mistiriously you are the luckiest guy in all ebay, who always get the best laptops at the lowest prices...*
Back to your roots! I love your eBay stuff! Keep up the great work!! You’re doing great!

Hey there @Luke !
What kind of pen you're using on the Macbook unibody?
Is it to cover the deeper grooves?
its a brush mate
@@4w0ken Doesn't look like a brush to me
www.oxo.com/electronics-cleaning-brush.html
This is the brush
I feel like you should use it as your daily for a week or so as is, then upgrade it to the 2012 logic board and sell it. You can probably get 3 or 4 videos out of that. Also if you want, i have a dead GPU 2011 MBP 15 with the hi res antiglare display. You can FrankenBook this into a series.
I got a 230$ macbook pro retina 15” 2012 with core i7, only thing that needed replacement was a ssd😄
Out of curiosity where did you find this deal. I’m in the market for a 15” and looking for a deal like that
Ozzman422 im from holland and there is a site called: www.marktplaats.nl
I found somebody who didnt know mutch about a mac and let apple give it a price. Of course apple’s price was way too low, but she believed it. So now i have my 230$ macbook pro😂
to get really bobblehead on this, you can tell it's at least 2011 because the photos show a thunderbolt icon by the display port, and the launchpad key means it's at least late 2011, as early 2011 still had the dashboard key
Can you get the download of the wallpaper of your 140$ macbook and your imac??
you watch this video and you only care about the desktop wallpaper? look up Snow Leopard wallpaper
or just Mac wallpaper
I paid 160 for a 15 inch for a 2010 15 inch with the high res screen and anti reflective screen with the 2.8 ghz i7 and 4gb ram and I added a 250gb SSD.
I think you got a good deal. I think I would flip it for around 400.00 perhaps?
The packaging didn’t bother me. I’m happy they tried
i would only buy 2013 macbook pros and above, as you said, GPUs from 2008-2012 are not very reliable.
Please flip this mac and put new thermal paste
Where did you get a SSD for $20? Was it stolen?
You can buy a 240 GB Kingston SSD for $25 in Amazon.
@@applepoop10 Yeah but is it under warranty?
@@J.B24 Yes. SSDs are cheaper now than they were 3-4 years ago.
I’m still using this machine since 2011
Same
Yo who taught this dude to use scissors. I was cringing the whole time
I got a 2011 macbook pro for 350 aud and spent 260 on ram and ssd and it is amazing !!
I bought two of these for 150$ on craigslist 😂
*Luke Miani will remember that*
Did they work?
@@lisalightning210 After I fixed them, yes.
In lieu of an available box, I'd say the seller did a great job to ensure the Macbook was protected during shipping. The number of bags and bubble wrap is fine, in my opinion. Also, the bags would have been easier to open had you used the scissor as a scissor and not just one edge to split the seams open. That seriously would have been much easier.
instead of an available box*
xd
I actually have that macbook!
Er, actually have a 2012 edition
Me too mid 2012 13'' base configuration.
You should clean the ports out with a toothbrush
bro it literally says 2010 on the bottom of the laptop when you zoom in at 1:35
I think that's for the Apple 🍎 trademark though.
thats copyright not the model
I'm sorry but what? Electrocution? From the Laptops battery? You won't even feel that with dry skin.
20 dollars for an ssd ? Where!
here but it's 120gb www.amazon.com/Kingston-120GB-Solid-SA400S37-120G/dp/B01N6JQS8C/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_lp_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=AHB7M22MSZM5F6WHBA8Y
Keep it incase you need a back up computer
I wish they would rerelease this MacBook design and put new internals in it.
2015 would be best if you're looking for something similar that isn't too old.
It doesn't have disk drive or even magsafe. I don't even need a thinner laptop for less...
@@draz9765 ?? I'm talking about the 2015 MacBook Pro. This one has all of the ports and has Magsafe. It also doesn't have the keyboard issue the 2016 and onwards MacBook pros have.
Shit that sounds a perfect offer that I could have made
I really love your videos. Ever informative about how to get a good Mac on eBay. How I really wish you also include links for trusted sellers
This is the exact reason I like buying used most of the time. I recently purchased a Xbox one elite controller that retails for $140 for only $20. How can you argue with $120 savings. Just be careful when buying used. It can be easy to accidentally buy crap
