That New York Times Book of Science looks AMAZING!!! Science is prooooobably my favorite type of nonfiction in general? I think? And I love articles/essays/etc...soooo yeah, adding that to my list. The Emperor of All Maladies has been in the back of my mind foreeeevvveerrrr...I have The Gene though and I refuse to buy it until I read that one. Too many books on my shelves, I don't read nearly as much as you, lol.

Oh the book on symmetry sounds so good! I'm really pattern and symmetry oriented so the scientific side to it is something I've also been interested in, particularly in relation to things like art and music. I love that I can always count on you for weird and specific nonfiction niches I had never considered before!

I LOVED morgue so much! I would recommend Caitlin Doughty as an author if you haven’t discovered her books yet, she writes about death and customs around the world and man is she interesting.
Sigh 😖. I just knew I should never have watched this video! My non-fiction TBR pile is already approaching the size and lean of that famous tower of Pisa, and now you've brought even more to my attention! At least some of these were already known to me, though I still haven't read them. My little sister, who is in remission from stage four breast cancer, and is still the last person I would have expected to have read The Emperor of All Maladies before I had, has been raving about that book for six years! Guess it's time I picked it up. I have several of Mary Roach's books and one is on this month's TBR, but, except for a few rare exceptions, my non-fiction reading this year has tended more towards biography and history. There are times I wish I had my own Booktube channel just so I could see if I could make you wail, "Why didn't I know about that book? " as often as you make me say it! Still, thanks for sharing, despite the fact that there are too many books and too little time. I'm going to have to live to be 1000, just to read all the books you've recommended to me. And please don't get me started on the ones I hear about from Steve Donoghue! I'd have to be immortal, or at least as young as you and Steve. Alas, I'm already 70, so you youngsters will probably get the better of me 😞. I've gone on too long! Can't wait to hear how you like these books, and, sadly, because of that already tottering TBR, I'm even still eagerly awaiting your nature video.
In mentioning Tuberculosis..I enjoyed reading, A White Wind Blew, by James Markert. It is a fictional book set in the 1920’s at the Waverly Hills a TB hospital in Kentucky.
The World Without Us was quite interesting, especially because some day it may all come to pass (and "some day" is seeming closer and closer every day, sigh). And The Emperor of All Maladies truly is amazing - it's super informative and detailed, but never felt academic or dry. I was fascinated the whole time reading it.
I am non-fiction guy, fiction just puts me off .. loved this list. I am gonna get some of those. The emperor of all Maladies is sitting on my rack for ages. Sapiens was a good read. Trying to attempt to read "Ideas by Peter Watson" :)

Love your science haul. Especially the TB books. You'll love emperor of all maladies. Have you read Paul Kalanithi's "When breath becomes air". It explores death from both and doctor's and patients perspective. You'll definitely appreciate it.

My family bookclub is starting The Butchering Art this month (my choice, obviously). On a shallow note, can you name your lipsticks in the description box 👀

The Disappearing Spoon is really good. Can also recommend Periodic Tales by Hugh Aldersley-Williams too if you haven't already read it. I liked by didn't love Storm in a Teacup, but she is a really good presenter. The Spark of life is worth reading too.

Uncle Tungsten by Oliver Sachs is the story of Oliver Sachs childhood during the war. His uncle allowed him to use his laboratory and the young Oliver “discovered “ the periodic table by his own experiments. Like all his books it is very interesting. I’m not very interested in chemistry but I really enjoyed this book.
