- Some variations of the Sleng Teng Riddim with the casiotone MT41 (S-Cat circuit bent).
The baseline and drums come from the rock-preset of the MT-40/41

Late Spring 1985 .... when this riddim came out. Every record shop you walked into. That baseline was blasting.
At first (when ONLY the Wayne Smith song was released), nobody could DJ on the riddim in the Dancehall. The speed and the bounce of it was so different than anything else at the time. It wasn't until TONTO IRIE's cut came out and then the album with JOHN WAYNE's cut ('CALL THE POLICE) , that people heard what patterns and styles would work on it.
SUPERB STUFF.
One - or more - Engineers in JAPAN, changed the course of JAMAICAN MUSIC forever.
Interesting thought about the Japaneses engineers.
+rizzy green: thank you for sharing your experience!!! Do you mind sharing roughly where you were in the world in 1985 that you experienced this sleng teng revolution?
interesting and so true.
we tend 2 forget Japan as the root of modern dance music ! ARIGATOU !
rizzy green Yes indeed or Jamaican productors made the best use of this simple stuff, so luckly we have this treasure to have fun AND dance, i have one MT 40 in mint conditions to make this culture going away in time, I waste 6 years researching daybyday AND a lucky day one exemplar come into my hands very mint AND very cheap Im a lucky guy i believe day God gimme this stuff because God do the all things, best regards
@Tony Walker I think she was trying to copy David Bowie's Hang On To Yourself.
Okuda Hiroko, a Japanese engineer, created and blasted this rythm.
Who could even imagine that the universal rythm of reggae, was developed on the other side of the world.
Japan's culture is so amazing, it's contagious!
many reggae artists hailed this synth as the gateway to digital Reggae music... having this synth when doing Riddim is a must
One of the greatest reggae riddims of all time. Changed reggae forever. I never forget it. January 1985. David Rodigan flashed this riddim for the first time on his show. February 1985. Rodigan v Barry G. Both flinging *Sleng Teng* after *Sleng Teng.* The riddim had gone nuclear.
100 gec fans coming in hard
Honestly, the bassline is serious. I can understand why it's one of the greatest riddims to date. Seriously wicked tune. Undefeated!
This particular Casio is the reggae dance hall classic. It’s a classic
Ah that analogue goodness! Sounds wonderful over headphones
Alors là franchement chapeau sleng teng riddim super bien retoucher👌 bravo l'ami il me donne un super inspi pour des MAD freestyle
the best bassline E V E R
This is sick man
What a nostalgia. If there's a software emmulation of that MT40 synth I'll be more than happy. Well, one plugin vst like that emmulates it directly instead of samples. I'll do my own rendition.
Fuck YEAH takes me back to the 80's LOVVVVVVING IT!!!!
Merci Mr Roland ❤
Respect & Bless up!
The #1 most wanted riddim in the United States. 🤪
Well me: The number one most wanted riddim on Panama
I hope you don't mind. This is totally getting sampled and dropped in the middle of a live set!
Sure no problem! 🙂

love how you played thesecond riddim chord out of key
So great!! 😎🤩🤩🤩😶🌫️
It’s crazy to think a 19 year old kid was responsible for this discovery
good demo!!!!
Thank you very much! Greetings
Wayne smith a genius this is when dancehall went digital....
Gussie Clarke!
Jammy and a casio fundementaly and it was wayne smiths mate who first toasted the ridden.
@Do Better th-cam.com/video/It08Mt3q38k/w-d-xo.html
@Do Better It was Wayne Smith and Noel Davey who got this and took it to King Jammy. Jammy slowed it down and this went nuclear. How are you not going to give the credit where it's due. They called up Jammy and told him about this riddim. And the rest is history. Thank Wayne Smith and Noel Davey.
@Do Better th-cam.com/video/6geaZFHZC2g/w-d-xo.html this is from Noel Davey. Jammy robbed them and took all the credit. Jammy did add a few things.
Weighig mAh brain

hi, i like this casio vibration very much, i am doing animation, could i use some sounds for my films, they are not commercial, and i`ll put the credits of the author of the music
Hi there! Yes, of course you can use it in your animation, no problem! :) Greetings
@@elgrinso1 thank you very much have a nice day
respect!!
Never seen a mt40 or 41 like that before. Must be custom made
It got circuit bent. It is an original, but it was opened up and some knobs were added to the circuit. Basically a hacked MT-40 ^^
@elgrinso1 that is awesome!
shit thats spot on
He does a key shift around 33sec...then plays the wrong chord. He does Gb/D....whereas it should be Gb/E...one full step down. He gets it right for the other chords, but for some reason doesn't get the companion chords to Gb correct.
Well, sometimes you just need to be a rebel my friend ;)
@@elgrinso1 You almost got it, as it sounded somewhat alien I was improvising instrumentally on my synth to this progression and I said This progression sounds strange, as the previous one always got the right one right.
1) Which instrument are you using for the offbeat chords? 2) What instrument is the first preset (tone memory)? 3) Where can I find a Casiotone MT40/41 plugin or the samples ?
Hello! I use the "Keyboard" setting on the mt41 in this video but it is only 2:27, so there is no 6:56? Did you maybe mean another video? I am currently recording a sample pack of the mt41 with all drum sounds, all bass notes, a sleng teng builders pack and 3-6 key-settings (guitar, keyboard...all keys). Poorly, there is no mt40/41 plugin :( #shame!. But with the samples you can make your own "vst" by using a sampler, or of course you could build a real vst if you have coding knowledge. There also is already a mt40 sample pack out there, but I cannot say if it is good or not, because I haven´t heard it it (It is from "Goldbaby"). Greetings!
@@elgrinso1 yeah I bought d sample pack from Goldbaby yesterday. I used dem in Directwave. I do have coding skills (javascript & C#) from creatin 3D computer games but how do I make my own vst? Do you have a link on how?
@@StormInDiDormEntertainment Man that`s awesome! Then your coding skills are way above mine^^. I`ve only read about it, but never attempted it. But here is a good article: www.martin-finke.de/blog/articles/audio-plugins-001-introduction/ A simple solution could also be a mpc-like vst (like groove agent in cubase etc..) where you put the individual samples from the mt40-samplepack onto the pads and then assign those pads to the keys of your midi-keyboard. That way you can play the mt40 like a vst instrument. Maybe this helped, greetings
@@StormInDiDormEntertainment This also could be interesting: th-cam.com/video/tgamhuQnOkM/w-d-xo.html

Qui sais ou je peux trouver le mt40/41
Hello!
What kind of modifications are in your model?
Madd
What mods have you done
Mods? Does a keyboard very old like this one had...
The speaker has been replaced with extra controls, I was wondering what they dude
Hi, great tune!!
Did you use the same synts for bassline aswell?
Keep up the good work !!!
Hi, Thank you! Yes, the baseline comes out of the casio, same time I play the keys. It is the rock-preset and runs automatically, till I hit one of the small basenotes to change the key of the baseline. The orange button does the drum fill and mutes the base. greetings
@Princ Djusko Check "Under my Sleng Teng" by Wayne Smith (1984): That Prince Jammys production made with this Casiotone inaugurated the Digital Reggae
