  • In this video of Hillstream aquarium (Algae-scape) we will see all the algae I got during first 4 weeks. Blue green algae (Cyanobacteria) is the only algae I didn't want to get but unfortunately I got it in this low tech shallow tank. Watch the video to see how I got rid of BGA in just 7 days. Will it come back? Remains to be seen.

    The algae or bacteria spores are basically everywhere, so we don't need to bring them from other aquariums. Most likely they are already in the water, air, and other surfaces. Give them the right condition and sooner or later they will appear and bloom. So my opinion is that you just got to the cyanobacteria problem sooner, but you definitely would have arrived there.

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I fully agree with you. The fact that BGA spores were already in the filter just made things easier. Pozdrav

    I am trying a planted tank for the first time and have been nervous about it because I do not usually do well with plants. But I feel like whatever could go wrong has gone wrong. A few days ago, I saw the BGA. I had no idea what it was and when I started researching it, well, I am stressed! I have seen several videos about getting rid of BGA but yours is my favorite by far. Your instructions are very clear and your take is stunning to look at, but you also included very mellow music and some really lovely shots of your aquarium. It was calming, informative, and encouraging. Thank you for sharing it.

      Have fun with your tank. And I can tell you even after years of owning the aquariums I still have the feeling that whatever could go wrong will go wrong. I guess you just learn how to deal with it. I am glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers

    In my tanks, BGA appears in areas with stagnant flow and where natural light filters in (usually on the front of the glass right by the substrate line). But I have also seen it in your case, in higher flow if the conditions are right. It's definitely not pleasant to look at and it does smell. Happy you found a solution. Take care.

      Solution for now, lets see how it goes. I had it in aquariums with both high and low flow.

    Hello, i had the same issue than you, i think BGA came from a lack of No3 and too much Po4... Removed it by balance No3 and Po4 AND a treatment with Ultralife.... Let's hope it won't come back for you and me. Fingers crossed!

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I think the same thing happened in this aquarium. Lets see how the things will develop in the future.

    Interesting video. Does anyone know what the active ingredient is in this Ultra Life Blue Green Algae Remover? Thank you.

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only thing I know is that it raises GH of the water and kills BGA. I was unable to find active ingredients.
