Amon's Fall: Kerrigan Kills Xel'naga Amon (Starcraft 2 Epilogue | Void | Final Ending)

- Sarah Kerrigan chased Amon through the Void, finding him on a platform shielded by void crystals and shadows of the Void. Kerrigan landed and established a beachhead with her Swarm, with Commander Jim Raynor and Hierarch Artanis following close behind. Kerrigan informed her allies that Amon was shrouded in a barrier of void energy that made him virtually invincible. However, the barrier could be taken down by destroying the void crystals that powered it. The zerg, terran, and protoss set up their bases and launched their final assault on Amon.
The void crystals that protected Amon would cycle over the platform at regular intervals, giving the three factions a chance to attack them. However, Amon would use void chasms to spawn more shadows of the Void, and use void shards to try and destroy any attacking forces. Kerrigan did not relent, and his shield slowly began to weaken.
Amon then began ripping the ground out from underneath the allies' mining bases, limiting the forces they could field. This did not deter them, and the three eventually destroyed all the crystals, leaving Amon vulnerable.
Kerrigan faced Amon, and he stated she was nothing but a pawn in the xel'naga's design. Kerrigan retorted that she cared nothing for the Infinite Cycle, and that she chose freedom for all life in her universe. She unleashed a blast that vaporized Amon. Raynor was enveloped in a white light, with Kerrigan's voice telling him to go.
Two years later, Raynor was sitting in Joeyray's Bar on Mar Sara. On the television, Kate Lockwell was reporting on the third anniversary of the fall of Arcturus Mengsk and the rise of Emperor Valerian Mengsk as ruler of the Terran Dominion, and that Admiral Matt Horner supported this new government along with the Dominion armed forces, as well as peace talks with the Daelaam. Raynor reflected how far he had come, looking at his badge, pictures of his Raiders, and thinking back to his conversations with Horner, Tychus Findlay and Dark Prelate Zeratul. Behind him, the door opened, and a human Kerrigan entered. She asked him if he was ready to go. Raynor smiled and replied, "Hell... It's about time."
Raynor was never seen again; his badge was recovered in Joeyray's Bar. Under Valerian, the Dominion entered a new era of reconstruction and peace. Zagara, new ruler of the Zerg Swarm, forcibly took control of Char and surrounding systems. Highlord Alarak refused to join the Daelaam on Aiur, and set out to find his own world for the Tal'darim, allowing any of his warriors who disagreed one chance to stay with the Daelaam. A mysterious bloom of life occurs on previously barren worlds, baffling Dominion scientists.

Terrans: We're a pesky lot, so I'd assume the formation of rebels against the future "Dominion" or whatever it will be.
Zerg: Don't think Zagara will go on a rampage, but she will be fairly cunning given that Kerrigan trained her. She'll probably take on a more "humanoid" appearance to perhaps honor the Queen. The Zerg may try a more "ambassadorial" approach to get more genetic material for their evolution (from both Protoss and Terran).
Protoss: Their own society will probably be trying to survive after having their Khala removed. They'll probably have issues similar to the Terrans for a time (ie may or may not have issues with the Taldarim).
Perhaps some enemy from another galaxy . . . or some "corrupted" version of the UED.
Let's just hope we never find out...Blizzard has lost that storytelling edge they used to have.

This is the closest one to what I think is a possibility. Basically Ulrezag returns, more dangerous than ever (if you keep clicking on the Dark Archon unit in LotV, they will eventually say that they fell Ulrezaj is till alive and they can feel his hatred within the void). In the Dark Templar Saga, we also learn that Ulrezaj himself is a servant or some greater power, and I believe it was confirmed in a panel that this greater power is NOT Amon. So we will have to deal I guess with another Amon-like being (though not necessarily a Xel'NAga). I will put some speculation that maybe this greater power can in fact be the being known as "The Voice in the Darkness" (I will just refer to as VitD), a being even the Xel'Naga feared and had sealed away. Of course, maybe the UED returns as well at the same time to put the sector in even more crap.

Kerrigan is still a Xel'naga and the only Xel'naga exist in the universe. with that power she can choose, transforms, create.. all things are possible for her she now a new god in the universe and immortal unless another Xel'nada exist like amon to destroy her.
I like to imagine what the terrans must have felt during this battle. The Zerg are just apex predators who will just listen, Protoss are used to the idea of physical gods, but the raiders are just some guys with guns who wanted to overthrow a government and are now fighting a giant space god. Imagine people swapping war stories and someone just like yeah I fought Cthulhu to save all existence.
And those guys weren't even mentioned in the prophecy. They weren't just some guys with guns, they also were just random there

@@detectivepatchouli8266 maybe but no one ever actually fought the christian god on a battlefield, real, tangible, in person, spawning gigantic mystical pilllars of rock shooting rays, meteors and creating constructs.
An all-powerful god would never come close to losing to physical creatures. But of course, such a god would not fit in with the writing of games and movies. There is no fun in a story line where the god just cannot lose.

This ending is perfect for them. I actually don't want Blizzard to make Starcraft 3, because without those two it wouldn't be the same, and they are done, they deserve their rest. Also there is the fact that all other stories got wrapped up, there wouldn't be anything else to add unless they would add some 4th race or something, and it would sorta ruin this game I think.

The Starcraft series ends as it started, with Jim Raynor in a bar in Mar Sara.
Also the LOTV campaign should have ended, as someone said before, with "We will craft our destiny among the stars", A missed oportunity...

If you play Starcraft: Precursor, which was originally the Starcraft demo, you actually start out playing Confederates on Chau Sara who fight the Sons of Korhal and then the Zerg. You can download Starcraft: Precursor as an extra campaign.

Man I will say, I was quite disappointed that there wasn't a true 1v1 fight with Xel-Naga Kerrigan vs Amon. I felt they could have added it and made it a boss battle, similar to the Heart of the Sarm battle with The Ancient One AKA Zurvan after you had succeeded in destroying all the void crystals.

Stasrcraft isn´t a RPG game, so it would fit that good.
You can see and feel the pain and exhaustion of the fighting in Jim's face at the end. The sounds of conversations that helped guide the story was a more touch too

He did make peace with the rest of the protoss, for now at least. That doesn´t mean he will support them in any way.

The way they started the story with "Hell, its about time" and finished it with the same line was pretty brilliant stuff IMO. Don't think we will see that kind of writing from Acti/Blizzard ever again.

When Sara opens that door and the music starts rollin' I get teary eyed. Yes the boss battle at the end could have been better, but a happy ending is what I like :)
Unlike the others I think that Kerrigan can take a phisical form and use it to take jim with her, also since they share a romantic bond she could "extend" his life and jim could play for kerrigan the same roll than narud played for amon. He could become her emmisary.
Also, no matter in wich universe, the void is a feared, and almost all mighty force 👿
Actually Tassadar was a Xel Naga who used a Protoss form, so I don't see why Kerrigan couldn't do the same

And so, the great final showdown against an enemy the franchise has spent building up to since the very first game, which was incidentally one of the first video games i ever played... is breaking some crystals and then a cutscene of the villain getting killed. To say i was disappointed when i first played this is a gross understatement.
And this happened twice! First his host body made from the carcass of the bloody Overmind and then his true Xel'Naga form! Easy as he was, even Narud put up more of a fight than Amon since you actually got to *fight* him.
No physical fight would have done him credit anyway.
k. now lets have UED vs. Zagara vs. Alarak.

I wasn't very fond of this either, it depicts how quickly Blizzard wanted to end this branch of its work. Not even Metzen could manage what's going on in Blizzard and had to leave. I think it no coincidence that Metzen left Blizzard not even one year after LotV went out.
I blame Activision. I think they forced them to rush the story because they didn't really care.
Yeah, its pretty bland and cliché. Pretty and looking good, but the narrative is boring as fuck.
Still plenty of content for a new plot. Taldarim and new lifeforms on that planet. I'd bet on a SC3 for sure. Plenty of war left to be waged imo.

She probably died from starvation... I mean, it's a spaceship drifting in deep space with limited access to food (protoss din't eat right?) for all we know.

Zergs can survive pretty much forever by hibernating within their hives. The ship will be drifting towards populated space until someone wakes them up. And that will be a problem because this brood had for last order to exterminate the protos and she has no idea of what happened in her absence.

The minute i saw that red hair, i was like WOW! The ending is so epic i started tearing.
The saddest part of all this is that it signifies the end of the OG Blizzard Entertainment, the company that made games for gamers. Everything after this title was basically made purely for profit and to appease their Chinese overlords , I doubt that anyone from the original company actually remains. Goodbye Blizzard, I'll miss your work.

What do you mean everything after that title? That basically was the last title up until now. Overwatch, Diablo 3, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm all released before Legacy of the Void and we didnt got anything new, except for the obligatory WoW expansions. So what the hell are you even talking about?

he fought for freedom up to the end... and was left alone as all his friends either move on to take care of important tasks or died... it was a good ending for Raynor who gave it all for the peace of the galaxy.

It wasn't. SC2 decided to give a lot of focus to it. SC1 was a tale of political and military intrigue and conflict embedded in a sector devoured by a historic clash of races that had never directly met each other before.

It could be seen as that way but no, Kerrigan took physical form, think like Duran, and took Jim away. This makes sense since they took the "cliche" approach to storytelling with SC2, much different than it was with SC1

And if it was really the case, why did she bother to be in a luminous form to fight if she could just be in her old suit ?
In reality, if Kerrigan ended her life with Amon’s, Jim will not have the willpower to live any longer.
If Kerrigan is still alive, we can’t even imagine what she can do so the ending might happen.

It is interesting how in SC1, the missions started out in the order of Terran, Zerg, Protoss, and in the expansion it was Protoss, Terran, then Zerg. Now we follow that exact same order in the SC2 expansions. We had WOL (Terran), HotS (Zerg), and LotV (Protoss), and in the epilogue we got Protoss, Terran, then Zerg missions all over again.
I'd have expected more white in Jim hair, after all he's been through, and two years of depression.
This ending my be like a love story for kid but is a great one, they both deserved to be happy finally with the one they love, I think she return for him and share all the godly powers with him making Jim a god two, now they can be together for eternity and nobody can get in their way this time.
Awwww, Alarak really does have a heart, letting his people decide if they want to join the him or the Uni Protos.

@@Asghaad it's a bit of both. It's clear he cares for his people, but his culture is brutal, warlike, and totalitarian. As soon as he was on the top and had no one to answer to or serve, he started thinking for himself, and while he didn't abandon his peoples ways, he didn't worship tradition like his predecessors did. He also got rid of potential rebellious elements, sure, but that was just an added plus for his ultimate goal of preserving their way of life
Listening to Alarak I was reminded strongly of "Q". Then the Homer Simpson Moment™ - look up who voiced Alarak. AHHH. No WONDER. :D I"m surprised he didn't address Artanis as "Mon Heierarch!" :P
Raynors ending for this series reminds me a lot of the ending the John Sheridan got in the B5 series
If there will be a StarCraft 3, I want planet Earth sends another expedition to investigate what happened with the first expedition they sent to this sector, but I hope this expedition lasts more and even they could stay permanently.

never really liked this tangent of how starcraft ended, everything got kind of weird when they implemented space magic and kerrigan ascended.

It would've been better to keep the God stuff out of our experience, that amon was an overwhelming force that was hard to understand but that the three races could defeat together. Especially with the earth humans perhaps.

@@TheOwlGilga When the precursors (Xel'naga) die, they return into the void. There they gain power once again and will return time and time again. But you have to be a god to defeat a god, otherwise, you will only defeat the flesh vessel.
Oh god, the fucking feels at the end. Especially if you've read Heaven's Devils.
Seriously, it feels like the conclusion of something. Sarah is dead, Zeratul is dead, the Heaven's Devils are gone with Jim, the Protoss got rid of the Khala, Raynor disappeared from existence (good ending self tells me he joined Sarah, in a way), the Zerg got more peaceful thanks to Zagara, and the Dominion is getting shit done.
Despite everything I have to say about the execution of the story on the SC2 campaign, this ending was fucking beautiful. I don't care what other people might say about cliché and all, I've GROWN UP with Starcraft. The ending just feels right - and the followups with Nova's Covert Ops are still enjoyable.
Zerg got more peaceful? The slideshow said she was forcefully claiming planets. xD

@Steffan Blanco She did also, with the suffering she was put through, forced to do horrible things just to fulfill a prophecy and bring about peace. It wasn't her fault.
@Steffan Blanco, however, that all needed to happen to kill Amon and fulfill her destiny of saving the universe. She didn't have a choice. Just like Anakin, everything needed to happen for Palpatine to be stopped, he didn't have a choice either.

Man you problably don't remember leaving this comment here, anyway i just finished the epilogue after i got the game ( i played it before in 2016-2020) but i lost the account and i never finished the epilogue , and i got to say this is the best game ever , i have been playing all kinds of games and most of them are just not fun anymore or they are to repetitive or to boring with huge bad updates but playing starcraft and almost finishing it in 15 days exept 1 mission and half of nova , it is just crazy , playing starcraft after a long time made me realize how bad the oder games we're all this time. I would say after playing so much starcraft 2, it changed me, it mostly fixed my addiction to most games .
And so the Protoss, Terrans, and Zerg lived happily ever after. The end.

Kerrigan didn't train Zagara to keep the zerg in check. She trained her to effectively lead the zerg. Damned right they are a threat.
However, the Terrans and Protoss now have unified leadership too and reasonably good relations. If the Zerg become too much of a problem, they would likely ally and handle it. That is why Zagara is so important. Kerrigan trained her to be smart enough to remain zerg yet not be so mindlessly aggressive that they get exterminated.

He was not revived yet. He needed a level 12 psionic which was queen of blades kerrigan in sc 2 wings of liberty, the artifact that absorb kerrigans zerg essence jump-started amons revival

I don't understand what the purpose of the zerg is without war. Like, the Terrans and Protoss live happily without war & go on with their lives, but what the hell do the zerg do? Do they just hang out 'n' stuff?
Blandragny well Zerg are just predators they consume animals for biomass and essence, maybe they would go on to other planets to hunt, and leave enough animals on the planet to repopulate for another hunt.

Have to admit....fucking hated this ending. Kerrigan kills trillions of people in her revenge against Mengsk (after she's been purified).....given a happy ending. Jim, who basically fucking helped Amon out of his sheer hotheadedness to get his fucking girlfriend back, never ONCE thought that this mysterious artifact that can conveniently turn Kerrigan back might have a few downsides that should be studied first...yup also gets a happy ending.
Oh and Zagara, who still had quite a lot to learn about being a leader has the entirety of the Swarm dumped on her lap. Hell she's not even mentioned here, Blizzard found wrapping up Jim and Sarah's fucking lovestory more important than the leadership of an entire species of alien.

Too bad the two are not related. Defeating Amon and saving the universe from someone who planned to snuff out the stars is nice and all, but that does not make the death toll go away, that happened for her personal revenge on one guy.

Quite sad how this is complete butchering of an otherwise original and well fleshed out story that had a distinct character. Oh well. In my mind , we are still at the end of Brood War lore wise. Characters within the game world don't exist to explain campaign mechanics in a friendly voice. Missions are not unit tests etc...
