MacOS Ventura: How To Install GIMP Image Editor On Mac/MacBook

On my iMac (and on yours in the upper left hand corner of your TH-cam video) I noted the GIMP 2.10 Install drive. I have found that if I remove or eject the drive GIMP no longer works. Is there a way to install GIMP so that I don't need to have in the install drive on my desktop? Previous versions did not required the install drive to be present.
