Thanks for posting that video that was the last game i attended with my uncle.. he died of cancer the following july. He loved nebraska football and raised me to love it. I have attended many games since then and soon my son will be the next husker maniac GO BIG RED!
It was taken from a vhs tape, from 1992, sometimes when converting the actual clip to an mpeg file the sound comes out really slow, so in parts I had to just cut out the sound all together. I was only trying to get as many highlights up as I could, sorry but I won't be reposting this and tweaking it to edit the sound and specific moments is too time consuming I understand your beef, but hopefully watching the video will be enough for you.
#26. I LOVED Lance, He was goooood! The We-Backs Derek and Calvin lived off of his beautiful blocks. He was an EXCELLENT FB!
Thats my uncle ❤
Buff fan here . Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado all ran the option and I think Nebraska was best at it ! What a shell game ran to perfection ! So many times I could not see the ball and it also fooled the Camera man too on many of these plays and that got me thinking that THIS Nebraska team could beat most of the college teams today !!
RIP Travis Hill...didn't know you as a player until I heard the news to day that you passed. Appreciate the dedication you played with in this game.
Dylan Hill My sincerest condolences to you and your family. That is something I cannot fathom. God bless.
Spartan, SO true. Travis Hll was the MAN! Top 5 pick until he tore his ACL in the 1993 Orange Bowl. That hurt when he got injured. He really was great.
Nice video. glad to see the old stuff.
I like the enthusiasm. CU needs more passionate fans. I went to school there and I grew up in Longmont (10 mins from Boulder), and I honestly know more Husker fans here than I do Buffs fans.
I remember seeing a cartoon in the Rocky Mountain News depicting Colorado's athletic program's favorite t-shirt and saying in the late 80's and early 90's : Things have Changed. However: the cartoon showed a big tough Husker grabbing a sickly looking Buffalo by the neck reading Things Have Changed (back)!
what a shame what happened to travis hill in the closing moments of the 93 orange bowl....he had unlimited potential....HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS A HUSKER GREAT!!!
What happened to him?
McCarney put together an incredible coaching staff in that run for the NATY. Hiring coaches that recruited California hard . After the championship year those coaches got job offers and made their move .
#26 Lance Lewis was and is today overlooked so often when ever there is a rating of Husker Great Fullbacks. He was an excellent lead blocker, pass blocker and appeared faster and a better ball runner than Schlessinger in my opinion. Guy was tough as nails and is in my book an ALL TIME HUSKER GREAT!!!
I'm a Kansas fan, but I can tell you that Bo will get his teams to be as good as we see in the video in short order. Fear NU!!!
Lewis coached me my sophomore year he is a bad ass!
I remember watching this game before my first Halloween (my mom dressed me up like a ladybug! - But I wanted to watch this game so I was quite fussy!!). If the score was 100 to 21 - NOBODY WAS LEAVING MEMORIAL STADIUM THAT DAY!!
If there was such a thing as a fullback hall of fame, it would be full of Cornhuskers.
my dad was at that game and said it was the loudest thing he has ever heard and he and I used to go to Bronco games at the old Mile High. The outcry to beat the Buffs at that time was unparalleled in the rivalry
The Blackshirts were just nasty and awesome that night! Trev, Trav, Ed, Ernie, Barron, name it.
Amen. You nailed it.
I was at this one. Halloween night if I recall. Cold and wet, but what a performance from NU!
So interesting to watch. Colorado was hitting hard - ferocious - they *wanted* to win and showed that in their efforts - and yet NU was so good in those days, we still just dominated. This was the start of that last 5 years where we were so close to 5 National Champs in a row. We were robbed in the '93 Orange Bowl that was fixed for Bowden to win.
Now that is the way you run the option.
That was without a doubt the loudest crowd that I ever heard at a football game.
Homecoming, Halloween night, it was insane.
Go Big Red.
Go Big Red
The Calvin TD run had to be a counter trey. He planted right before going left. Awesome execution.
Yup! Made famous by the Hogs of the Washington Redskins. Awesome play!
your football coach was one of the best fullbacks Nebraska ever had
derek was the hammer guy that year. Slashed inside! I LOVED Derek Brown! Quick burst!
You've got Rae Carruth. Nothing will ever top that.
Lance is my uncle! Love you uncle Lance ❤❤❤❤❤ Abbie Lewis
I'm anxious to see what NU does to CU this next year after Pelini has had the team for 11 games.
Man...I'm husker till I die, but in the grand scheme of things, us Big 12'ers need to stick together. Mid-Westerners are just good, hardworking people. Even in defeat we have class. The world is going to hell in a handbasket. Go Big Red!!!
Tommie is the best there is, there best there was and the best there ever will be.
Tommy was beautiful love you bro ….
52-7 HA!! this game signaled the death knell of CU's day as a national powerhouse. They've never been the same.
2012 Big 10 Championship Wisconsin 70 Nebraska 31 LMFAO!
It was the first time in college football history that two teams ranked the same faced each other in a game, so it was odd for any era now or then.
Do you remember how to spell remember?
I do recall Nov 23,2001. A great win for the Creampuffaloes. Although you only won by 26 points that day. This game played on Oct 31, 1992 was a complete and thorough ass beating. The point differential was 45 points to your 26 point win. Not taking anything away from you and your victory that particular day but you soon forget that Nebraska put up nearly 600 yards of offense on you in 2001.
True Legends. GBR
Osborne actually lost 49 games in 25 years, he was 255-49 and a couple ties I think. Still very impressive and the best in college football statistically speaking over that span.
I would love to see the whole game! Wish someone would post it!
have you found it yet? I know it's now on TH-cam just do the search for full game I guess
It is a way how networks hype the game. They took the AP and the coachs poll!
man i sure do miss the option.
As big as a Husker fan that I am, we ain't done much in the past 10, sweetheart. So we aint got a whole lot of room to talk. But the next 10 yrs with Pelini, I'm sure, *and hoping* will be amazing.
I live in Colorado and hear it time and time again 62-36. and I reply with 52-7! which is much...much worse.
u2jeffr Yeah I don't get talking trash about one blowout win they had when Nebraska had like 30 of those kind of blowouts against them, and way more wins, and way more championships.
You missed/ edited out the Travis Hill pick to start the game. Place was up for grabs after that. Set the tone for the whole game.
My god, I can't believe Kordell Stewart was able to walk after this game. He was punished, and on astro turf no less!!!
apparently Kordell was injured and didn't play much. The CU QB in some of this video looks like #14, a frosh K.Detmer... but if this game didn't give Stewart nightmares, the '94 game in Lincoln probably did.
BTW, Will Shields ran for more yards on that fumble pickup than the entire CU offense-- Salaam 2-5, L.Warren 8-2.
no it was 92. its correct. frazier started as a freshman. he was amazing.
Sucks living in the past, but damn, it's nice to recall when Nebraska had a football program! GO BIG RED!!!
This is my all time favorite good old fashion Nebraska ass whipping. I was there for the game - we slapped them silly all night long. You can see both teams bringing the wood but some of the hits Nebraska made were nasty.
I was at this game and it was a drizzle storm.
On the Fumblerooski, look at Lance Lewis. He's CRUNK!
Okla. Sooners wish bone was some thing to behold .
NU just won the big 12 north a year ago smart one. oh and ill agree, your coach is going in the right direction. youll be better the next few years. but so will nebraska, and you cant say they wont be because frankly, it wont be that hard to go better than 5-7. nebraska hasnt been nebraska ever since callahan took over. but now that bo pelini is head coach, we will have a good offense and a defense that can back it up. so if NU puts up 51 again, dont count on CU throwin up 65.
great vid..but there are huge chunks with no audio...i think u might have ripped it wrong when you uploaded it
remember it's 5-4 since the 2001 season began? Haha, you almost got me there.
Colorado had one loss and one tie in the year they shared the national championship. They also needed the 5th down against Missouri.
That's CU for ya. Feelin' good after a 5-7 season. When we have a season like that, the coach and the AD get axed. Keep reaching for the stars.
Ah.... hindsight
@SuperBrown789 Then put up the video of that game, no one is stopping you friend. By the Way Crouch's day that day in 2001, was pretty damn good. 360 yards of total offense. Last time I checked Crouch didn't play defense that day. Kudos to the Buffs on that day one of your few good days. At least we didn't need 5 downs to help us win a national title.
His first start was against Missouri that year.
Cool, I was at this game.
haha i could live with that, but dont expect to do that to pelini every year. doing the whole 62-36 with solich is one thing, but pelini's players would be too scared of him to let that happen :)
Since we're being semantical, it was Jan 2nd 1996.
serious hitting going on back then.
remember 47-18? i love how you remember the date of that game. we cant remember all those dates cuz we have 47 of them. yall only have 18 to remember. or actually just 1 memorable one.
Trev Alberts...nuff said
What a classic game! What a classic NU beatdown of Colorado!! Awesome.
Yeah, what has Nebraska done since they came to the Big 10?? They haven't done a damn thing. Michigan would have KILLED Nebraska in 1997. Oh, lets not forget when Wisconsin put up 70 points on Nebraska in that 2012 Big Ten Championship. They cant beat Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State or Wisconsin. Nebraska is always at the bottom and cant handle the Big Ten. Colorado has beaten Nebraska the last 2 meetings in Lincoln and Boulder.
Did Nebraska have the 4-3 defense in '92 or was it '93?
Wasn't it the 1993 season they had the attacking 4-3?
I remember this game, I always wondered if Stewart had nightmares about the Blackshirts before he went to the NFL.
actually the '95 season, but it was played on jan 1 '96. im sure you probably new that, but just to clarify.
Yeah, Scott really had a hell of a year for you guys. What bowl game did you qualify for?
You're obviously confused. CU vs. NU in 2001 was 62-36. As for 62-24, that score does sound familar. What was it? What was... Oh, yeah. That'd be the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.
As long as Ganz keeps chucking, we'll be fine. :)
What time was the kickoff for this game?
They had the same amount of poll points in the AP poll
Amazing, hard hitting for both teams. You don't see football players buckle it up play smash-mouth ball like this anymore. You have to wonder if the more finesse oriented teams of today would give-up if they had to play a team who put this much abuse on them.
Also, notice how many horse collar tackles were made in this game? Ouch.
@SuperBrown789 Your right, you don't have Chris Brown we don't have Crouch. However, some might argue the 2001 Hurricanes are the best of all time. Funny, I don't remember a Buffs team ever mentioned in that, or any conversation about being the best team ever to take the field, ever. At least you have your 62-36. If that's not enough stats...I'll drop one more digit set for you, how about 48-18-2?
All this talk about the past: we do play in the future: colorado bluffs vs dem Big Red goonz 2016-2021: we can talk smack then.
love osborne running up the score in this one. anyone who cries about getting whooped deserves to have half a hundred laid on 'em. colorado never did win a legitimate title -- needed 5th down which nullifies the crown.
i wouldn't even say he ran up the score. if a team can't stop the run, they don't deserve any mercy at all.
how were both #8?
I'd rather lose on the road to a Div. A school than at home to a Div. AA school. LOL
@cone4944 BLUFFS???? Great spelling, you from Lincoln??
haha wow so thats what a good option play looks like
Ya the crowd might have been loud, but nebraska fans are not hostile. Did u see the 2005 NU CU game? look at what the CU fans did. they made a whole section have to be kicked out of the game. I was there, I saw it all unwind
It's a shame the Fumblerooksi play is now illegal.
@PearlJamBuffs Remember 30-3 in '05? 40-31 in '08? I think Suh is still scraping Hawkins off his cleats.
i played football in college at University of Nebraska Kearney a school in the University of Nebraska system. UNK recieved almost nothing for funding because the huskers need 10 million dollars for more seating at memorial stadium so more people can watch them lose. while UNK my senior year won the conference title and made the D2 national playoffs and no one came because they where in lincoln watching Mizzou kick their husker ass.
good ole' tom osborne
well thats very odd, even for back then
who was the back up qb for nebraska..#1?
i found it Mike Grant.
He was our starter until the loss at Iowa State. Tommie took over from there.
@@randymontgomery7862 Tommie started against Missouri. He was the starter for the Iowa State loss, not Grant.
what do you mean what ever happened to tommie frazier? he was probably the best qb ever to go through nebraska and definitely got ripped off when eddie george got it instead of him.
@SuperBrown789 Almost as much fun as the 7 touchdowns Joe Ganz threw against CU in denying them a trip to a bowl game, right? :-)
They were tied in the polls
and we all know you've been schooled on that thread, too.
sintown13, now it's 48--if your 47 times is right ;)
lol, 1:46 he drops the ball before he's actually in!
@PearlJamBuffs Try beating the 95 team there, you know, the one that crushed Florida?
Tommie's blood clots returned after graduating from Nebraska he played one game up in Canada for Montreal blood clots kept him from getting a chance at the NFL.
6 Buff fans
I agree that calahan will be fired soon or should be, hes a bad coach. I dont think that 5 national titles is overrated.
No offense to you in particular but CU has A LOT of them. Never did go to Boulder in down right fear of the treatment we got there but I have seen some of the seriously despicable acts SOME buffs fans did in Lincoln/Memorial Stadium. I mean come on CU is the only school I have ever seen that the ENTIRE student section get escorted from the stadium. I'm not saying you are horrible fan in particular by any means but CU has way more then most.
Nebraska Wins
