It's a bit disingenuous to make SMU seem like an average joe. Their new football facility was kicked off by a single donor giving $50,000,000. There are very few schools with the financial, donor capacity as SMU and their success is a direct consequence of this. If we're talking about someone like Boston College or Wake Forest winning, then yes i'd agree.
Belicheck is hiring a more unique and more nfl like staff and setup I think. I think Belicheck will handle strictly the on field coaching, Xs and O's of , coach up the defense and special teams and oversee the offense. Just like New England. But he will hire a staff of people just to manage NIL, Kids agents, and recruiting. I dont see Belicheck dealing with all the business side of things that ran Saban into retirement. Unc just like Stanford just did probably hires a GM to handle NIL and money stuff. From what Belicheck said in press conference I think his M.O. is bring me the players and I will coach them up. Smart move by him. I could see him watching lots of tape on kids and giving recommendations and his pick of kids to go after but alot of the traveling and talking to kids and their parents be done by other ppl. Other than big name 4 and 5 star recruits. There I could see Belicheck making a visit to a kids house. Compared to Mack Brown and Geoff Collins this is a huge huge upgrade for UNC. UNC gave up 70 points this year to James Madison ! I guarantee nothing like that happens under Belicheck. If I'm Bill I wud call up a few guys like Edelman and Gronk and see if they wud want to become assistant coaches on the offense. Those 2 guys personalities in the locker room wud go a huge way to make Belicheck a Lil more relatable to young 16 and 17 year old kids.
Big add for Acc conference. Acc now needs only 2 things to me to really make it become really legit. 1 Notre Dame to join full time in football. 2 University of Miami needs its own stadium close to campus. Those 2 things along with Belicheck and Unc becoming legit makes Acc right up there with anybody in the future.
Man i think smu gonna run the acc they have that dallad wealth and that texas pipeline smu gonna be something serious the big 12 missed a big opportunity
they really did. I was joking with a buddy how fun it would be to see a conference with SMU,TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas State, UNT, Oklahoma State, and Houston. SMU ain't a bad place to play if you're a young person and making money to play sports. Sadly, they weren't doing anything that differnt from what the rest of the schools do now (openly) back when the NCAA ruined their football program.
If SMU can do it, it would be a damning shame if UNC and Belichick can’t.

@@yerapotatoharry UNC just built a new $47 million dollar football facility. That SMU facility doesn't have any more than the UNC facility has.

Reggie bush.
Bill better not bring in McDaniels. He's such an unlikable guy. He'll run so many players off
Yea, I'm curious who he's bringing in to be assistants.
