I make wooden blocks out of several layers of wood. I think this would be great for that project. Up until now I have used bar clamps and that takes some time. I think this would save time in this step as well.I think I would use a larger threaded rod.
    Thanks

Finally i saw a axminister table saw in action. Thanks for share.

It's the old model, and the blade travels when tilted. If Felder, Record or Powermatic want to sponsor me I'll happily break my back moving a better table saw into it's spot. Lol

Came here to say this. I have had several friends have accidents that could be avoided and one really messed up his hand. I cringed when I watched you working near the blade. I know you probably don't need to be told this. But, if a little annoyance by me could create some consideration and reduce risk so that you could keep creating awesome stuff, I don't mind being annoying.
Great video. Really enjoyed it and learned a bunch of design patterns that I didn't know. I will probably be building this eventually.

Savaas P: Thanks for the clear demo and explanation of your reasoning as you progressed through this project. I found it helpful for my own planning for a similar device for my shop. Question: do you notice any flex or deviation in the center 12 mm rod as you compress a wide stack for gluing? I have some 25.2 that I could use, but wonder if that might be overkill. And, thank you again for your quest to enlighten.

Only thing that flexes is the aluminium plate under pressure. Hmmm it really depends on what you're trying to press.

Will it work for crushing G.I. Joe's too? And what about dreams? Will it work on those?

....There's NO way I'd get the four metal bars to all point in the same direction upwards! This is really great to watch, by the way. Have you ever made a horizontal press? I'm lucky enough to have a heavy duty book press. I observe that in addition to crushing barbie dolls you could use your press for embossing. This was my observation as well! I was surprised with the results I got pressing my embossing folders as I assumed that it wasn't suited to this task. Or are you referring to a different type of embossing (like they do with a diecut embosser)?

Bosch. Its a neat little unit that does up to 65mm from memory. Way lighter than the Dewalt/Milwaukees, but they have more mouth opening
