Murtagh died at Culloden in the books, so it was nice that we got him for a couple more seasons on the show, and he met Jamie's children, Willie and Bree. His dying words were the same. "Dinna be afraid, [Gaelic endearment]. it doesn't hurt a bit to die." And I find it fitting that Jamie wouldn't accept Murtagh was dead until Claire said so because he's witnessed her perform miracles.
William Buccleigh was born in December 1743 to Geillis Duncan, an accused witch and murderer. As she was condemned to die, William was taken to be raised by another family who had recently lost an infant, and they gave him the dead child's name, a common practice at the time. Unbeknownst to William, he was the illegitimate son of Dougal MacKenzie, war chieftain of Clan MacKenzie, who had had an affair with Geillis. Having grown up with no knowledge of his true history, William became a lawyer and married Morag MacKenzie. After the birth of their first child, Jeremiah, the small family emigrated to the Royal Colony of North Carolina.
What a coincidence that your reaction to this episode came out today, on Jamie's own birthday.🙌 It was sad but it's a fantastic episode from start to finish. ❤
When they filmed this season, Sam was around 39. So yeah, a bit below 50 lol. I definitely thought there was a good chance that roger was dead… You thought THIS episode was emotional (which it was) - But I can’t wait to see the next reaction lol. I can’t imagine it being any less emotional than this.
Yeah, I was going to say Sam is younger than 50, but he still looks dang good for his age, roughly late 30s here, now early 40s. And Caitriona is less than a year older. They can make it work by saying Claire is gifted with genes that make her look young well into old age, and Jamie has always lived a life of hard labor, never sedentary or gluttonous, so that's why he's got this gorgeous bod, but let's be honest. I don't know anyone in their late 30s or older that are that hot. Only models and actors who put a lot of time and money in keeping their bodies fit, young, and beautiful.
Yes, Evie, we WERE crying right along with you! This is such a powerful episide and Sam's acting was magnificent. Tge actor playing Tryon is one of Sam's best friends in RL. They made a series of hilarious commercials together when they were struggling actors for Tennants beer. They're all on TH-cam now. th-cam.com/video/9I0MdXtX7Ss/w-d-xo.html
Haha... too true!... they DO try to inflict the maximum amount of pain possible on their viewers, don't they?! And we love it. Bunch of masochists! ....though they do give us a lot of beauty as well! :)
Jamie Fraser is 50 yrs old today. Sam Heughan is 42 yrs old in real life, two days ago. He was 32 when they first started Outlander. Claire is five years older than Jamie, Catriona is two years older than Sam.
@@shortybarnesyanik i''m not revealing the plot, I'm just getting her out of her mistake, because she thinks it's not roger In the books it is very clear at this point that he is, and that's what freaks you out
Not a spoiler: From a film making perspective, wouldn't it be more effective to have an entire episode to dedicate to an epitaph instead of a short moment at the end of one?
Sam was born Apr 30, 1980, so he just turned 43. What I find amazing though was that they were able to keep Graham McTavish a secret until the episode aired. Apparently he was registered at the hotel as Buck Rogers. I just saw the advert on W network for Outlander season 7, eventhough Staz airing in on June 16th, it isn't airing on W until the 18th, boohoo.

Dinna be afraid a ballach ( means « boy »)
We're so happy the series allowed us more time with Murtaugh than we had with him in the books. 😢

As a almost 52 yr old, I know first hand, it is possible to look like that without a shirt on; it just takes a lot of work ;)
Hope you had the tissues close by.
