The scene with Roger shouting "Satan will pop up and drag you down screaming to hell!" is one of my favorite moments from the books. Jamie decided to just let the boys think Roger was right. I couldn't help but think of Geneva in the scene when Jamie was talking about how the touch of another was shocking after prison. She was the first woman he slept with after prison. It had been many years since he'd been with Mary McNab and many more years since he'd been with Claire. I feel like this confirms that Geneva really hit him at all of his vulnerable spots. It took threatening his family to get him into her bed, but I can't help but feel like he might have been clever enough to get out of it, or maybe even risked telling her father (who knew what a spoiled, reckless girl she was) if he hadn't been sexually deprived and therefore vulnerable to a young beautiful woman making a sexual advance.
