I freaking hope Omar is their new drummer. I know Taylor would be beaming wherever he is.

I'm definitely giving away my age but as a drummer myself Omar Hakim has been an idol since I first saw him as David Letterman house drummer in the 80s! Yes he was AMAZING AND INSPIRING!

Also a LETTERMAN BAND alumni was the AMAZING STEVE JORDAN who among many projects was with The John Mayer Trio , Keith Richards Expensive Winos and now THE STONES! Something about playing with Paul Shaffer must be magical? I don't know but I met Shaffer in the late 80s and he was a DICK?!!!

@@ralphtarr5931 You mean Omar subbed in a few times? The house band drummer for David Letterman was Steve Jordan. Allan Schwartzberg subbed in a few times as well.

I'd been wondering if the fight that broke out during this song was visible from the stage/back section...(Crowd starts trying to alert security from about 5:30 in)

that floor crowd looks very dead, much more energy in London. Sounds great, thanks for the vid

It really was not dead I think the difference is 5000 people in our GA section vs 20,000 people in London

I love Hakim to bits but dude.... you don't have to solo that much 🤣I guess this also shows that Taylor's groove really can't be matched :(

Thing is Omar can groove like nobody's business and he can shred his ass off like no one else either. i guarantee you he was playing this the way he did because Dave was telling him to 'shred like Omar'. I also guarantee that if Dave wanted him to play it like Taylor note for note he could have done that too. That's how good he is. he can literally play anything. I have been following Omar for 30 years and I did not know had become friends with the foos or played on the last record. I guarantee Taylor and Dave worshipped him and were in total awe of his playing. He is seriously that good. Plus he is the absolute nicest guy you could ever meet on the planet. Look up 'omar hakim sting solo'. It is FIRE.

Exactly !! Dave and Omar were there to celebrate the Life of Taylor Hawkins and show all the love they could muster up…it was all heart!❤

    • @jeremyanderson4956

Taylor would want omar to play it how Omar would play it, this is that! That's what any drummer except ginger baker would expect! Don't mess with Mister Baker.

Hiring someone of Omar's caliber to play drums for this band would be the equivalent to buying a Ferrari to buy milk from the local store once a week. It would be a waste of his talent that could be better used elsewhere. Although.... I would be happy for him because he would make a ton of money.

    • @satsukikorin

What if Omar decided that that's what he wanted to play, for a while? cf. Rod Morgenstein in the '90s.

@@satsukikorin Of course and I hope he makes a ton of money doing it. I don't understand your reference to Rod? You mean like he did when he joined Winger in the 90's?
