Wow !!! This clip is definitely a lot better than the trailers offered by the MCU for the proposed Fantastic Four movie in 2025, The characters and the ambience depicted here are in accordance with the original comics created by Stan Lee and Jack ‘The King’ Kirby back in the 60’s and 70’s. "better than the trailers offered by the MCU for the proposed Fantastic Four movie" sort of "fan made" versions ... they just slapped some visuals together ..but I completely get what the concept is...
From what I read Marvel was in an uncomfortable place because DC had already made their Aquaman movie back then so in order not to confuse people they decided to do away with Atlantis and all the original comic book material... Instead of having Atlantis somewhere in an ocean they came up with that new story about an underwater Mayan civilization... The second thing is that Laetitia Wright felt she would look too tiny and ridiculous fighting a comic book accurate Namor so they chose this shorter guy instead, and since this actor was Mexican it was the right thing to do... But of course it didn't work the way they intended and most comic book fans around the world felt betrayed and very upset...
@@jeromewagschal9485 As I was. I sooo much want to see this. I love your take on what both the villains and the heros look like. I really don't favour one over the other when it comes to preserv the old designs versus making a more modern look, and preserving the older designs doesn't prevent reimagining a design or a story. To me it's a matter of WHY something looks, works, or happens the way it does. There are many details I could say why in particular I liked it, but I'll limit myself to one: Galactus' helmet. The way it looked like a mix between a crown and a helmet in possibly incan style, making me feel like some ancient humans saw something of Galactus at some point and mimiced it. There are so many things in this video that I could just enthusiastically ramble on about. Well done!
Also, the voice over here at the beginning makes a subtle reference to a previous comic book team possibly created or co-created by Jack Kirby called The Challengers Of The Unknown, a team of four adventurers, who having survived a crash that should've killed them, unite to investigate unusual phenomenon that no-one else would.... Sound kinda familiar-ish?
An interesting selection of villains. Mole Man and Doom are the logical go-to ones, followed by Namor, who looks amazing in this. Was he by any chance modelled on Rock Hudson? There was one brief angle where he reminded me of Hudson. Sue and Medusa look stunning and Trapster actually looks like someone not to be trifled with here. In the comics he was pretty much always a joke. Galactus looked impressive - hopefully he's not wearing shorts (not one of Kirby's better ideas!). Doom still lacks the immobile mask, though. It's the very immobility that makes him even scarier, because, despite his verbosity, it's hard to glean exactly what he's really thinking at any given moment. I thought the Surfer was excellent in the movie version, keeping to the sleek, streamlined body he has in the comics; this version is a shade stockier, but still commanding. For me, the best FF stories were the first fifty or sixty issues. Simonson and Byrne did some interesting things with them, too, but for the most part the comic lapsed and was eclipsed by others, notably the X-Men. This brief "what if" short is everything the 2015 movie wasn't. I'm not holding out much hope for the 2025 version, either. I've never understood why the movies can't just keep to the basic plot and characterisations of the comics, while updating and deepening them. There's no need to completely reinvent everything from the ground up. The "Incredibles" did an excellent job of it and, let's face it, they were really the FF in a clever disguise.
