    Hi this is my first time viewing but it definitely will not be my last!! 👏👏😊😊 Loved the fabrics you bought and the info on the fabric stores in Paris. The colours are great. I usually go for autumnal colours - browns, terracotta, burnt orange etc - but also love spring colours too. At the moment I am looking for 100% silks both for cloths and for quilts. Plain ivory and plain or damask gold for the quilts and patterned for the clothes. All of which are being quite elusive..☹️☹️☹️ Did see some patterned silks in Liberty but not a great selection. 😢😢 So now I need tow make two special journeys to two destinations - one to London and the other to Paris. Looking forward to seeing all your makes. 👏👏😊😊

    Just found you while listening to the Olympics. I was right on several of your selections. I really tuned in to see your sewing room. Now I have to go back to see those. I look forward to checking in with you again. Wish I could go to Paris. When I was young fabric shopping was a past time. Now I need to shop my own stash. I can relate to your methods etc. Loved spending time with you.

    Love your Paris fabric haul! I’ve been to some of those shops in the Montmartre area and felt quite overwhelmed, but ended up with one gorgeous fabric that was quite expensive instead of lots of less expensive stuff I felt like I could get at home. I just finished making a quilted bomber jacket that took forever to make, but it is now a favorite garment in my wardrobe, so well worth the effort! I would suggest chalking your quilt lines as you go to keep them straight and even and use a walking foot on your machine to manage those layers better. Can’t wait to see what you create!

    I’m with you on Reformation! And Interestingly… Reformation is how I got started on sewing. I’ve been trying to be a conscientious consumer of fashion in the last several years. My friend introduced to me to their mission and clothes, and I loved them. I do have several Reformation dresses, whitest I love them, I had to mend one of them pretty much on the second day of me wearing them because some of the seams popped. And with the pandemic, having to spend that money on Reformation garments seemed irrational. Looking at their design and the garments I already own, I thought I could make them instead of buying them. Their designs are simple and that’s how I was drawn to them to begin with. Then I found your channel and bunch of others, and that’s how pretty much how I got started sewing my own garments now.

      Agree! I’d been dreaming of buying a Reformation dress and finally got one on eBay but I was surprised at how flimsy it was. Also recently saw Rixo dresses in ‘real life’ for the first time and was disappointed in the quality so I’m practicing my sewing to make my own!

    Think the embroidered faux leather in a skirt with a side front slit. (skin colored lining w a bit of stretch) or a cropped jacket w interesting sleeves. Love that Cheryl coat in the green; tell us how they handle the quilting in the instructions before or after cutting out. Thx.

    I've quilted nylon fabrics before- to copy a Chanel bag. Go slow, use the right needle and a walking foot. It will work and look amazing. I'm about to try it again for a jacket. Nice haul! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

    You have such a good eye. A nice mix of tasteful, practical, fun, and unexpected. Love the quilted jacket ideas. But how do you maintain the waterproof properties of the fabric with all the punctures along the quilting lines? I’ve waterproofed a tent for backpacking and we needed to apply seam tape along the seams and waterproofing spray to the whole dang thing. A pain to be sure.

    You indeed pronounce Tissus Reine correctly! (But Marché Saint Pierre you don’t drop the e at the end of Marché so it’s marsh-ay rather than marsh 😉)

    Oooh I love visiting Montmartre and the fabric stores there. The only issue I have is that I don't speak French and i found it really difficult to ask questions about the fabrics, or even explain that I need one fabric from here, then another on the other side of the store. Do you speak French?

    • @TheCrafterpreneur
      @TheCrafterpreneur  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No I don’t, but I find that there is always someone who can speak English in the fabric shops. You just gotta ask.. and not get nervous about asking 😊

    Be aware fabric shrinks when quilted on a large scale. Do not cut out the pattern pieces until you have quilted the fabric.

  • @woodenkat8971
    @woodenkat8971 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd be careful making a rain jacket quilted. Won't the quilting threads just wick water into the garment, making the water impermeable qualities pointless?

    This was pure joy to watch! Fabrics stores are my happy places, so going along this video was lovely ☺️ a question: can you do a video of what sewing machine (and accessories like sewing foot etc.) you use, especially given that you have so many different types of fabrics in your projects - like the organza and lot of embroidered fabric fir your Halloween dress, and now the perforated faux leather that you bought from Pairs…? As a beginner I struggle to understand fabric, machine, and accessories gelling, so a video would be so helpful!
