The mental aspects of archery has really blown me away. I started 3 months ago with the 2019 PSE Drive 3B. I was able to shoot decent quite quickly. What's held me back was my brain. Getting bothered by little things has led to me investing bit by bit in my setup to deal with the little annoyances. Whilst the gear has been improving, above all I've been feeling more comfortable with my shooting. The more I'm out at the range, the better I've gotten. That's really the key. Thanks very much for all the great information and guidance you are providing. I hope you can find time to focus on yourself, getting your physical fitness where you want it and same with your shooting.
really good example of the impact of fatigue on breathing and ultimately on shot placement. I love that even though you knew that you were fatiguing and you knew the reasons why, you still published the video. Great insight and so much to learn.
Omg!!! Firstly I think hunting bows having to over come shorter axle length could pass on some features too target bows . Also it's very interesting to hear your views on fatigue. I have asthma and don't shoot regularly, if I do get an afternoon shoot with my mates I seem to shoot just as I've tuned it in my back yard and as time goes on and I fatigue I seem to have a second second set up based on slouching (strength) and time on target (oxygen levels) and depending on time between rounds ( dependent on banter, people adjusting kit , moving targets and weather etc etc ) during bigger brakes I regain some stamina and vary between my two settings, next summer (uk) I may even set up a second pin on my scope. My friends have suggested I would need multiple pins for all my excuses!!!
Stephen, it seems like you hold your breath when you keep the bow and arrow in the valley. So, lung capacity at that moment has nothing to do with it. But the oxygen level in your blood does. You can improve that level by a lot with the Wim Hof method (there is an English-Indian cardiologist who researched it and came to that conclusion.) As this method will change the pH of the blood (which homeostasis then wants to fix) there might be more buffer capacity to deal with acidity from using your muscle/muscles. As to the shoulder, the biggest risk in presenting the body with a load that is heavier than what we are used to in recent weeks/months is ligaments, connecting tissue, tendons and their connecting tissue to bones and muscles as well as the tissue that keeps joints together. You could strengthen these tissues really quickly with (static) exercise on a vibration platform, assuming different positions (as long as you don't feel the vibrations in your head so as to avoid a concussion risk). I worked with a vibration platform when I needed to recover from lengthy disease. It stimulates circulation where you would have difficulties to get any circulation whatever exercise you do and with that it makes recovery or development of strength much faster. Our body develops strength in the direction of loads, even when we get older. This is how paleontologists can see in what dominant position an organism lived when they find their bones long after it was gone.
Think I'm a 26 1/2" draw so I'm not sure about the TNT or the NXT. If I can I would prefer the 35" but the draw length is 26-31.5". Thanks for the great review will be praying for your shoulder.
Thanks Steve! I shoot 3D, indoor and hunt and this was very educational. I'm looking at a new bow that I can do all 3 with. I shoot a PSE Drive 3B at the moment which I got from you. I shoot just fine with it but I think a longer ATA would suit over all three disciplines.
Thanks for this video. I've enjoyed your PSE reviews and am looking at drive/evoke options to cover hunting and just fun in the yard for a first bow. What do you think of John Dudley joining PSE?
Hi Steve. Absolutely great review video on the NXT 33. I live in the US in Ohio. I'm purchasing the NXT 33 thru my pro shop. Do you know the general turn around for a left hand PSE bow in a solid color like white? I know you are a PSE distributor and I just thought I'd ask. Keep the videos coming brother. I just ordered a dozen VICTORY VAP TKO 400 arrows on your recommendation and I'm sure I'll love them. I'm shooting Easton hexx 400s right now. Thank you for your time!!
I wanted the NXT 35 however,......the NXT 31 was heavy for me. I have had the NXT 31 for two months and have bumped poundage to 65#'s and just added a v-bar and a "long" stabilizer to my NXT 31. Shooting is much better even on the hunting bow. 🤔👍
Great review! I love my evo nxt 33, favorite bow to date! It really has me thinking about getting a 35.. in your opinion is there a noticable difference between the 2 now that you've had time to spend shooting them both? Love your channel btw!
When you shoot a bow with a shorter axle to axle how do you manage it to still be able to touch the string with your nose? Do you change your anchor point by pulling back further or to you lean your head forward? Its amazing that no matter what kind of bow you shoot it always looks the same.
The Elite Ritual (33") is also an excellent choice. Of course here in the states speed is limited in the IBO and ASA sanctioned events. Max in IBO is 300fps and ASA is 288 fps for everyone but the professional classes at 298 fps. The smooth draw of any bow is critical to helping proper form. True speed bows aren't at all necessary for 3-d. GreT for hunting if you can handle it
Great stuff, as always. What release are you using? I am thinking f going with a hinge. I am sure that there is Not much profit in releases, but I want to support you.
I know your a bit time poor but 18m isn’t really a good test I’d really like to see how all these different bows perform on a proper target range with target setups
The club where I shoot, shoots on a school grounds, we have a 100% carbon arrow ban. So we have to shoot Alu/Carbon composite or Alu arrows. My question is: Is there an alternative to Easton ACC, ACE, ACG Alu/Carbon composite arrows?
@@Carterpfly We shoot at a school, on school grounds.. The agreement is... All arrows have to be accounted for at the end of a session... Zero lost arrows on the field. If the school finds an arrow. We the club looses its place to shoot. Carbon arrows are a bitch to find with a metal detector... The metal detector will find a 30inch arrow easier than a 2inch point. Hence... The 100% carbon arrow ban.
@@sahhull you can just put uv paint and use a uv flashlight and that will make your arrows florescent, you can also use wraps. Lighted nocks may be expensive but you can still see where you arrow is the entire duration the arrow is flying.
Shooting with fingers isn't ideal because you can torque the bow and cause the bow to possibly derail, which isn't cheap to replace and isn't good for the bow. Sedond, you can't guarantee you are going to finish a shot the same way each and every time, even those who command the shot with a release aid still do it consistently. You're going to have a perfect release every single time if you use a release aid every single time and if you do it right. Since compound archery is a field in which you can lose by a few points like 1-3, you really want to be accurate as possible. I'm not saying you can't finger shoot with a compound, you can do it if you want, but if you want consistent shots at long range and want to get the highest scores possible, you really want to avoid variables as much as possible. The only time that a compound shooter with a release aid get's a bad executed shot off is if you have the shot hit off center, this can be from faciial pressure, or the string (if you're finger shooting). I'm sure there are some finger shooters that shoot compound out there that get recognition, but I'm sure that none of the top shooters in the world do it. Hope this helps!
i have a philosophy that is, if you can shoot 3d and target very well with a hunting bow, that youre only going to be that much better with an actual target bow...

Great video. Now expection a duel between the Evo Nxt 35 and the Rezult!
I use a PSE expedite for 3D shooting.

100% agree!!!
Roll what is flat pounding the marrows especially considering you're just looking down the string that's Beast Mod

I just got back into Archery, for Target should I use a standard Target Rest or should I use a Target/Drop away for 3d/Indoor?

No.
Nice shooting. How's the new store shaping up?
What's the difference between bows marked at 3D vs target?
You should have let that shot down you was doing great and that could be your end all right there
I think I can do just as good with my pse drive x if it had that sight on it
He dosnt have a peep sight and says he isn't shooting good, I'm surprised he hasn't killed any arrows from 18 even without a peep.
You getting a bit of smoke from the Adelaide Hills fire Steven? That would certainly be making you feel meh, esp for someone with Asthma.
Can you put the 65-75% fast mods on the supra?
Will you do a review on the NXT John Dudley 33 ? PSE best move they ever made was getting John Dudley in their family.
Best thing I would is set the bow up for instead of messing around .
What’s the price on the nxt 33?
How about shooting with fingers? Finger compound shooters are ignored these days.

When moving let off down 90/85/80 do you lose or gain speed?
Yes. You will have more speed at 80% let off. Then you would at 90%
btw. world archery rules doesn't allow camo-colors/patterns on bows, arrows or clothes during championships...
i have a philosophy that is, if you can shoot 3d and target very well with a hunting bow, that youre only going to be that much better with an actual target bow...
Don't forget about Perform X 3D
I'm sorry I said that before I even gave you a chance to say anything and exactly what I typed just exactly what you said
Try not to hold breath, is not easy but better.
that bow wont shoot for shit with that red rest...you need a black one..
