I was introduced to this game at the time Gold was the most recent release. But looking back at the old releases, the openings for the 3rd and 4th style had my favourite theme music. I really like that late-90's techno house beat.
That first video minded me of how Hip-Hop & House oriented beatnamia used to be! I always thought the older styles were harder too since they had more chords. The later styles seemed to be a "how fast can you play" test and I didn't feel my technical skill growing. I need to get back into this series though. Have any versions past 16 been planned for a console???
Personally, in terms of title screen, I love Happy Sky and DistorteD. DJ Troopers and RED executes their theme well too. At their age, 9th is okay I think. For present IIDX, Copula is the best among Happy Sky and Distorted in terms of title screen
The IIDX before 9th style(9th not included) were actually on PS1,the arcade cabs used PS1's motherboard parts. But the reason for not being released on PS1(my guess) is because of the size a single CD-ROM(900MB max?) can hold,and IIDX arcade cabs used HDDs to store game files(up to gigs,mostly for the movies and key sounds). So they released the game on PS2.(with DVDs)
Anyone happen to know what song is used in the IIDX: 17 SIRIUS intro? or is it just a little riff made specifically for the intro. Been trying to find out for ages. Also love how the gun of the guy in the troopers intro is like a IIDX controller
Yeah, we can only dream of a CS release :( I think it'd be good for the series to go the DLC route, but what do I know. jubeat on the iPad seems to be doing well though. Oh, and lag on today's HDTV sets is still an unsolved problem (id software's John Carmack often talks about it).

Neat. So it looks like the series found it's style in the 6th mix. I love the interfaces in the later Bemani games.

5th style, my first CS IIDX version i bought, this one is magic...
IIDX Red was the first one I encountered... and the unit I ran into was the same one upgraded to the current IIDX.
