The pathos in his voice was so immense that even his older brother UBGAK, the GOAT (greatest of all times!) could not control his tears. My father used to witness this back in the day. Ustad Munawar Ali Khan developed this element in his life at maturity. The genius of Patiala Gharana...it can only be heard in the heavens now, or through the magic of Y/T! We are indeed blessed. 🙏
There are many short versions of this popular thumri , rendered by eminent musicians, but this rendition is an extended one . The genius and creativity of Barkat Ali Khan saheb is amply demonstrated in this beautiful mosaic in which each piece is different and so beautifully woven into the whole .
Rajiv Sinha Seriously man The amazing hindustaani classical music must be preserved and the only way is to engage lot more of young generation I’m sure the young generation can get connected once they realise the might of this form of music
Ustaad Barkat Ali Khan's rendition of thumri's was more impressive than that of his more renowned brother, Ustaad Bade Ghulam ali Khan. Also listen to 'Jaane na doongi'' which inspired 'Bajirao Mastani's popular number with same lyrics.
In all probability, Ustadjee was the finest THUMRI singer of his famed gharana.

UBAK was a genius - probably overshadowed to some extent by his brother BGAK. This was a supreme performance by the maestro.
