I really like the idea of the his kick buttons being specifically flickers instead of more just more punches, I find it sorta confusing to remember which punches are which on Balrog and Dudley

2 weeks ago everyone hated Ed. After the gameplay trailer everyone and their mom is swearing they were Ed fans since Street Fighter 2: Turbo. If Capcom can redeem a character this hard in the eyes of many, they can rehabilitate anyone. Also, Bison's hat is sitting on the chair in the middle of the room. Just in front of that Psycho Drive. Shadaloo's remnants are going to revive that Sigma-like motherfucker, aren't they?
One thing I'll say, I *DID NOT* expect Ed to be the guy to drag me back to SF6 Right now. I was fully expecting to not return till Akuma dropped, but I got try him out!
I was a literal child during SFIV, but I would play arcade mode with Dudley nonstop, when Ed came out I was excited because I didnt really care that much for Balrog, I loved Ed in SFV because he was my first main when I "got into fighting games", seeing him now just makes me happy and I'm so glad that even the haters have turned around.
Capcom knew Ed was gonna need a little more to get people interested and they DELIVERED. I'm super interesting to see where they could take some other characters. Like, they could maybe salvage Necali if they decided to bring him back. Or better yet...give Sean another chance to shine!
Some would insist there's no difference between the two. The blonde white male "new protagonist" Street Fighter character complaint is petty but not completely unwarranted.

@@BAHAMUT786 Ed himself can be considered just "hip younger Balrog/Dudley copying Ryu's plot". Luke also has that next gen angle thanks to MMA motif contrasting older fighting styles and traditions. Between the two Luke has a better chance of standing on his own rather than just redoing or continuing old plotlines.
I dunno if i'm the only one that felt this, but his last line of the trailer makes me think of the Streetwise opening (i've wanted Ed to be the protagonist of a new Final Fight since i first saw him)
Honestly, I’m not sold on his hair still. But man, Ed is so cool now. And it helps a lot that he’s voiced by Ed Bosco now. That guy is one of my favorite voice actors.
Few things are quite as satisfying as seeing creatives take a character you didn't like and make them awesome. Ed SFV looked like a mishmash of ideas that didn't fit together, but this looks perfect. It's also funny that making the character consistently be a well meaning raging jerk instead of a sometimes nice sometimes rude formal(?) man who seems to be well intentioned(?) makes him way more likeable.
Finally a proper German Rep in Street Fighter. Nothing against Hugo, I love him, but it was always odd how the supposed German Street Fighter was based on a French Wrestler. Plus, making him a boxer also makes sense, considering that is the one martial art Germany is known for, so, bonus points for that. Also, love that they didn't make him a generic bad guy, love the idea of him being basically trying to be M.Bisons complete opposite. Hopefully the rest of the Neo Shadaloo 4 Kings arrive in SF6 as well. Imagine them dropping a trailer for a playable Gorilla LOL
They fixed my main issues with Ed, he has no kicks and that terrible default he had in SFV is nowhere in sight. I'm looking forward to giving him a try now because he finally looks like an actual Psycho Power infused Boxer instead of whatever the fuck he was before.

I personally never hate Ed in SFV myself, but i guess that i was just indifferent to him, i mean, he was a Dictator (essencially green Bison) looking character that use very goofy looking boxing gloves, so to me he looked like a cartoon character back then, also, for a boxer-esque character his fighting style was kinda weird looking, oh and his other outfit was fine if not a little over simplified, so nothing for me back then, but now, he looks really cool and i dig his current drip, his 2 outfits look sick as hell and his LV3 as well as his victory pose looks freaking awesome, so yeah, i didn't brother with Rashin and/or A.K.I and i think that Ed would be the same, the only DLC character that i was aiming to get was Akuma (because of course), but now i think i will get young Ed here, so yeah Ed crew, COUNT ME IN!
