    Sadly Rab C was as real as it got, you didn't get anyone like that on TV and it was way more relatable than any of the middle class comedy like butterflies or the good life

    • @byronmills5952
      @byronmills5952 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      More relatable to who?? ....Both the Goodlife and Butterflies were also working class comedies - white collar as opposed to blue - they certainly weren't middle class either. Neither Geoffrey Palmer nor Richard Briar's characters lived off the fat of the land as middle class - they worked for their existence, in Tom Goods instance he was selfishly trying to rid his life of the from the white collar working Rat race. The comedic examination of social class in this country isn't just relatable and shouldn't be exclusive to the likes of the gritty comedic portrayal of Rab C Nesbitt - as brilliant as it was and still is.

    I was lucky to see Rab live at Hammersmith years ago, took me a few minutes to understand the accent but i can honestly say it was fantastic..At the part where Rab was in court, there was a commotion in the audience seats, i naturally thought that a fight was breaking out as the alcohol was flowing freely, it was the other cast members , so it kind of turned out that the audience was in the public gallery of the courts and the cast members were heckling Rab and the Judge..It was my first time seeing a live theatre performance and i will never forget the experience..what a great night..

    I have all the seasons on DVD box sets, and love watching them over and again :-) Rab C. Nesbitt & co are some of the most memorable characters in British comedy, and to think they started just as a small-part sketch is amazing. I met Gregor Fisher once, and he is such a gentleman in real life, but his acting skills are truly beautiful :-D I worked with a man from Govan many years ago, and visited the area with him, and re-lived every scene they filmed there while just walking around the place :-) Rab is actually a true philosopher, who displays moments of a much higher intelligence/education than his characters appearance would be capable of :-D
