Denim maxi skirt is a great alternative to traditional jeans, especially if the skirt is monochrome, without other trendy embellishments like sequins, rips or studs.

100% helpful. So happy to see you encouraging people to value their wardrobe, especially with cost of things rising and continuous waste (fast fashion). You can always build better on more basic styles and add to it so it's bolder/trendier too.

All of this was so on point for me. Especially regarding the denim maxis, I'm not AT ALL opposed to lots of denim done in an artful way, but so many of those skirts start to look frumpy, especially as one sits in them all day and wrinkles form around the hips and tush. If too big, they give 1990s elementary school teacher vibes. If too artful, they start to feel like an accident. If one was to do it, I feel like a higher-waisted one held by a leather belt at a length that ends right above the ankle would work well, with a nice clog or heel. But with no rips, no haphazard stitching, nothing two-toned, and no frayed edges.

Clear bags needed more now for stadium events and indoor arenas (think concerts, collegiate and high school events - safety measure required by most, if not all venues). So, may have to have one to own for these types of outings, but not for daily use. Thanks for another great video!

I am a fan of long skirts, and really like the denim maxi trend. Besides that, I agree with you about the other trends. It's important to think about longevity and reduce waste when things can go out of fashion quickly.

I am hoping to find a chambray or lighter midi denim skirt. Maybe not for high summer wearing, but all other seasons. I don't wear jeans but love the look of a nice midi denim skirt- with maybe a very feminine blouse, or a warm sweater.

    • @Survivormj
      @Survivormj ปีที่แล้ว +13

You can wear a denim skirt, especially dark wash just like jeans. Let’s say white shirt and black blazer, pink t and pink shrug, white denim jacket with blue and white striped t, sweaters of course, don’t forget belts, jewelry and other accessories. You can wear heels, flats, sandals, very simple and much more comfortable than the mini.

I think a denim maxi skirt would be great, but if you want longevity, avoid the ones shown, where there they look like pants turned into a skirt. That's probably going to look dated fast.

@@nanimaonovi2528 I think a chambray midi skirt, maybe with buttons down the front, a little full (but not a hoop skirt! 😂) would look great & be super versatile. The only thing I’d disagree with is the denim maxi skirts only because I’ve been wearing a denim midi skirt for so many years now that it’s a staple item for me. I can’t say I’ll be wearing a maxi skirt (I do have one ordered) but love that there is the option to mix it up a little bit just like denim pants come in different fits. I agree with most of what you said. Although I like a below the knee pencil denim skirt, I feel like they can be worn with lots of button down shirts, blouses or casual shirts. Also, I live in NYC and attend sport games and concerts throughout the year, a clear bag is a necessity and saves me time at the entrance. Most venues like these require people to have clear bags. I have a cute clear crossbody purse with a gold latch that looks nice and goes with everything. If I want to hide certain things I add a pouch inside.

Going to a sports event in a giant arena, a concert in a massive venue, or even a college graduation in a stadium or auditorium requires only clear bags or none at all in my large southern state metropolitan area. 😉 I’ve bought, gotten rid of, and bought again more clear bags than I ever wanted. However, I prefer that to carrying my car keys, drivers license, one credit card, and cell phone in my hands or pockets for hours. That said, these are the sole reasons I own a clear purse. ☺️

There may be a time when the blazer is not at the forefront of the trend, but it’s never out of style like the micro mini would be.

Flashback to 2009 when I carried what was more or less a duffle bag to school every day! I hated going to my locker as it was not near any of my classes so I carried EVERYTHING all the time 😂😂😂. Nowadays I have the Binocular Bag from Cambridge Satchel Co. and it’s the perfect size for phone, sunglasses, wallet, lip balm, and a couple other necessities. It has a crossbody strap and a top handle that I like to tie silk scarves to, often times my Fennwyth!! ❤

Such a long time ago I began to put your advice into action... I went from an over stuffed wardrobe to a wardrobe I could fit into one large suitcase. I have not had to buy anything for a few years, except underwear and to replace shoes that have worn out. Well that was until recently when I lost 20 kilo in weight. I purchased two long sleeved singlet tops. I still use everything else I own, I am simply in the process of altering them in various ways to adjust for the weight loss and to refresh them as I go.
Thank you for your videos. I enjoyed watching them way back when and now I have rediscovered them, I will enjoy them again I am sure...

I think extremes is currently the theme for everything in our society. The middle is hard to see, find and is being suffocated.

My laptop is bigger than average because of computational needs, and I am smaller than average. That poses a problem when I have to carry my laptop. If I have to walk for any length (e.g. traveling or taking public transportation), I opt for a laptop carrying backpack. It distributes the weight and avoids the lopsided issue. I have one that is neutral in color and style that incorporates OK with my style. When that one expires, I will be looking for one that's faux leather. I have seen some stylish ones.

True...extremes are mostly never practical but I would be lying if I didn't say I'm seriously considering the maxi skirt. To me it's about the same as jeans that you can style up any way you want, very versatile just more trendy

oh interesting! why? ediit: I now saw in another comment it's required in the States. As someone from Europe who has been to a lot of concerts, I had never heard of this or seen anyone with a clear bag.

@@surlespasdondine stadiums and theaters won’t allow bags that aren’t clear. They want to easily see what you’re bringing into their venue.

As an aside, I watched your video about voice.
My natural voice is so annoying. A NY accent. Its nasal and loud!
And my husband is a refined Parisien.
Last night I decided to practice your voice tips and my husband became concerned about my behavior! Lol!!!

I mean. A person definitely can keep things in those tiny bags... They just may not be items you personally indulge in lol. But having done years of concert security I can think of a plethora of things someone would keep in a tiny purse on a chain 😂😂

Midis always has been a part of my personal style, so now I'm really happy that I can find my type of skirts not only on vintage stores. But obviously I can't say so about metallic leather stuff and extreme mini skirts. Trends should work with your style I believe

I do have a DKNY maxi skirt from the 90s (ahem), in very good condition. But it's not the kind that looks like split open pants, and, yes, I still wear it and like how it looks.
Other than that, I totally agree with you.

These are great tips! I have one clear, hard-shell purse. It’s tinted hot pink / magenta with a gold chain and is a great match for the sparkly heels I got to attend some weddings / cocktail parties last year and this year. But the bag was quite inexpensive, less than $20 if I remember correctly. It looks like I paid a lot more! I think the purse works because I take only a few things in it, and one day it will exist to store some of my art supplies. 😁
