I remember getting the demo with an XBW magazine here in Australia. Played the hell out of it but never got the full game until recently. I don’t even remember seeing it on a shelf here. It's a fun game but got tedious fairly quickly.
The first time I heard about this game was back on G4TV's "Judgment Day" where Tommy Tallarico gave it a shoutout as an underrated gem. It always sounded interesting; one of these days I'd like to pick up a copy as soon as I get myself an original Xbox.
Glad you enjoy the history bits. I'm always a bit worried if they are too dry. I agree though a lot of these game companies have similar stories of hardship.
I remember reading about this game in GamePro and thinking the premise was unique. Honestly, I like that there's even a game with this concept, just to stand out from the genre with a different take in racing. I'll have to give this a try one day. Great review man!
I'm glad you covered this. It's not an amazing game, or even one that I play a lot, but it's one that I enjoy having in my collection. It just makes me happy because it's so unique and is still enough fun to justify relearning the controls from time to time. Fantastic video as always, thanks for all your effort and passion.
This game is my Roman Empire of games, I love vehicular combat games with focuses more on the racing with a side of combat. Less Twisted Metal, more Road Rash or Jak X
"Whether or not you can handle the games' excitement in short bursts is completely up to you" I guess you can say the same thing about State of Emergency.
I was delighted to come across this game over a year ago at my local retro game store & got it for my original Xbox library. It's a very unique racing game that I absolutely had to have & play!
I rented alot until I beat it as a kid. It was soul sucking as a child. I remember seeing it a used bin at game stop, and internally I said never again. Although slightly entertaining. It's my go to joke as a bad xbox game. To be fair there weren't that many Xbox games out when it released.
I wanted to love this game but boy that rubber banding is insanely annoying. The ai doesn't give you a break if your in the lead. Its like they get golden mushroom or bullet bills just races way too competitive.
I'm always interested in hearing why folks like things I don't, and this is very much one of those! Of all the heaps of Xbox games I've been playing recently this is very possibly my least favorite. To be fair I've mostly been avoiding licensed stuff, so the bar is a bit higher, but I just do not gel with the ridiculously long races, wonky hitboxes, or the money grind as you mentioned. Combat racing is one of my favorite niches but this just doesn't work for me on any level, as much as I'd like it to.
I get that. It feels like a game that can be very hit or miss. I enjoyed it, but it's flawed. If I played it on a bad day, I might dislike it lol. I don't know what the developers were thinking about the money grind.
I have this, me and my cousin used to play this a lot I even have an old pic of me and him playing it from back in the day lol
Oh wow that's an awesome memory. Any picture of playing video games back in the day is insanely nostalgic for me.

This is super cool never played this but definitely would've liked it as a younger player
Me & my sister played this game soooo much when we were younger. I recently picked up another copy. I still enjoy it today.
I bought this game SOLELY for the purpose of driving off the cliffs.
LOL
I have this game too. I effin' LOVE the Germania soundtrack! I'm telling you 9:34 and 11:54 is my JAM!
I never owned the full game but I remember playing it on a demo disc a few times
always love background on a game! the common theme of game development is that everyone never had enough money or made enough

You're doing God's work on this channel! I'd love to see you cover the Xbox ports of Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 in a future episode!
I'm glad you enjoy the channel! Those classics are definitely on the to-do list.
The chariots reminded me of Shadow of Rome on PS2, great game.
I've never played. I might have to check it out!
I remember the co op had me and my best friend laughing out loud. We still talk about it to this day.

Thanks for watching! I agree I feel like just having a game with this unique gameplay makes it worth at least trying.
I'm glad you covered this.

I'm glad you enjoy the videos! It's a game that stands out just for being unique at the time and that's something to appreciate.
This game was a banger loved it back in the day

I cab totally see that!
A fair and balanced review, thanks for the video. Would be great if you could do Wreckless the Yakuza Missions next.
Thanks for watching! I'll add that to the recommendation list.

It definitely sticks out in a collection because of how unique it is.
@campxbox I forgot to say, you did a outstanding job on this retro review & entertaining as well!
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
I remember this game, loved it.
I liked this game. It came out around the same time as blood wake. I preferred blood wake tho when they were both new
Blood Wake is the superior game for sure.
Camp Xbox are you going live again today? 😮 This game looks unique. I don't really know what else to compare it to.
No, but I want to get back to it soon! Yeah this game is an odd one. Nothing really like it out there.
Maybe Assassin's Creed Origins took a bit Inspiration from that because in the Game, there are also Races you can win :)
Yeah that's what I was thinking! I've never played, but I want to try.
I Remember this one :)
Road rash if it were released in 1173 ad

Yeah they are always on your ass and losing after a long race to that is a bit painful.
I hate most racers but adding violence tends to make them much more interesting to me so i might try this one
the gameplay looked pretty bad until you described the controls, now it seems fun asf lol two axis handling is extreem

So basically it's what Xbox owners got instead of Mario Kart: Double Dash xD
Haha I played Double Dash soon after playing this and I was making the same conclusion in my head
awesome!
Denary? Hardly know her😎🤨
I remember this game for being an awesome idea but bad excecution, at least I never played it beyond the tutorial I think and moved on to other games.
Yeah I can understand that. The tutrial is quite lengthy too with a bunch of mechanics to roll through.
I adore this game. My ex wife and I used to take turns with driving/attacking in co-op.
Great generation for weird and wonderful racers 🫶
