Well, I'm riding on this train- I've got tears in my eyes.. Trying to lead a letter from my home. If this train runs me right, I'll be home tomorrow night, 'Cause I'm nine hundred miles from my home, And I'd hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow. Well this train I ride on, is a hundred coaches long. You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles. If this train runs me right, I'll be home tomorrow night, 'Cause I'm nine hundred miles from my home, And I'd hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow. Now if you say so, I will railroad no more. Sidetrack my train, and go home. If this train runs me right, I'll be home tomorrow night, 'Cause I'm nine hundred miles from my home, And I'd hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow. 'Cause I'm nine hundred miles from my home, And I'd hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow! (youre welcome)
because of one man: the pro-scrapping mentality of then-NYC President Alfred E. Perlman, who ordered that every NYC Hudsons and Niagaras be scrapped. :(

For a Train to cover 900 miles within twenty-four hours it should at the very least be an Express or better, at very least one of the famed'n'named ones? or am I mistaken
The train would have to be going at ~60km/h or ~37.25mph to cover 900 miles in a max time frame of 24hrs. For a train going at 180 km/h (~111mph, typical top speeds of locomotives during the 1930’s), it would take barely over 8hrs to go 900 miles. Finally, if the New York Central Hudson was going at its known top speed of 197.75km/h (~123 mph), it could go the 900 mile distance in just under 7 1/3hrs (see the NYC Hudson wiki for its speed). Edit: that is if it didn’t stop whatsoever.
Very nice video, love the trainz videos
Nice seeing the 490 amongst the NYC J class Hudsons
I agree, She Deserves Recognition
@@EngineerDaylight yes
Has the quick beat and acoustic you’d expect in a Trainz song video, but the accordion gave it shanty vibes.
As one who likes both, this is a jam.

Only two NYC locos are donated to a museum for display to this day happily:)
There are over 10 NYC locos preserved, actually. Some were owned by precursor roads, however.
@@MiddletownBranchProd. I thought two were the only soul survivors tbh but good to hear

Indeed, thanks for the dedication👍🏻
I might be wrong, but C&O 490 is in the B&O museum I think. Awesome engine to stand beside.
1:38 if those were 85' cars that train would be 8,500 feet long lol
But a good steamer 'll haul that happily.
@@steakthedoggaming5333 a n Allegheny or something bigger? Maybe. Anything smaller than that? No way.
@@robertbalazslorincz8218 smaller locomotives hauled longer loads.
@@ace74909 Longer but maybe not heavier, freight cars at the time were shorter and made of lighter stuff than passenger cars
your video is super cool my friend ❤❤❤greetings of good health and success always🥰🥰🥰🔥🔥
It’s very sad that the New York central Hudson and Niagara hadn’t survived into preservation

@@jsgaming3248 who saved New York central 3001 & 2933 what it the railroad itself that saved two Mohawks

@ModelRailRoadingFan1522 true
If I could find the money, I would rebuild 3, one in each class, and I would streamline one or two of them.
nice dude i love it keep up working your trainz video dude
I remember singing this song in either Elementary or middle school

The UP Actually Wanted A Hudson, but they Didn't Get Around to it. The plans still exist somewhere
The up would have scrapped them and stole the designs for theres. Like an fef4 prototype on the Niagara basis.

I like the original but imo James Coeffry does such a better job with it
If you put it at 1.25 speed it sound pretty good
