@Wendy Fascinating that you’re a genealogist, I’ve been trying to piece together my Irish genealogy and it’s a challenge to say the least with the information I have. I now deeply appreciate what it takes to connect dots of long lost ancestors when all those that had answers, have gone to rest. 🙏

Not only did you mow, cut trees and clean up, you bought flags and flowers for our Veterans and deceased people who probably would be very pleased and proud that they have been remembered in this way after so many years. Thank you for bringing in the Elders of the Mormon Church and having them assist you. I wish they could have stayed longer. God bless you and your family! The respect you showed to veteran George Littleton and others. The memories and lessons taught to your daughter as you worked together to clean the headstones. The beautiful flowers and mulching. All I can say is to ask God to continue to bless you, your big heart, and compassion for others! You are one of a kind!! Thank you for sharing this with us. Thank you so much for this job. My husband’s grand/great-grandparents are in a publicly owned cemetery that is as neglected as this one. We try to care for their plot and the plots around theirs. It brought me to tears knowing maybe some day when we can no longer care for them, someone else will love them as much as we do. I’m sure you brought the same joy to many others.

When my kids were young - 35 years ago - we went to a very old, small church cemetery to collect pine cones. I’ll always remember my daughter’s tears as she found headstones for babies and young children. I love that your daughter worked hard to clean headstones and honour lives lost, often too young as well.

Kevin, these cemeteries make a great Eagle Scout project. If you find another one, reach out to the local Boy Scout Council to coordinate a project. The project should include both the cleanup as well as safely cleaning the stones , photographing and uploading to Find-a-grave, if this hasn’t been done. If the Scouts aren’t interested, then do what you do best.

Kevin, Thank you for taking care of the forgotten.
All, I do have a family grave site similar to that, but fortunately, it's next to a church. Their markers are very old and worn off on some. That's what happens to the 1600s headstones. We, who are left to the task of taking care of our ancestors resting places, have a huge responsibility of documenting for our own offspring. I just received a message today from my cousins daughter who asked her mother. Life does go on and so does our curiosity.

Thank you for spending the time and effort needed to clean up this cemetery. I suppose it's only natural that after immediate family members die off or move away, there is no one left to care about the graveyard or the markers, so what you did means a great deal to the community where the cemetery exists. I am a volunteer with the grass-roots effort called 'By Memorial Day' whose goal it is to clean all veteran headstones in private, public, and municipal cemeteries each year 'By Memorial Day.' We can always use more volunteers, so if anyone reading this comment wants to know more, search TH-cam for the channel, 'Honor Your DNA'. Again, thank you Kevin. Mowing lawns for free to help people out shows great character. Doing that work - and more - for people who can never thank you is even greater.

I have seen a lot of landscaping jobs on TH-cam. But this one has to be my very best one to watch. You and your family did an awesome job. And God will reward you for doing something from your heart. Planting those shrubs and flowers looks really good. And the mulch in a shape of a heart is awesome. The best thing you did was putting flags on those who fought for United States of America. I'm from Canada but what you did was so awesome. You showed love for those who are buried there. I hope people will come and visit this small graveyard and plant a flower or two. I prayed that God will protect and bless your family. God loves you and the people that are buried there love you too. Cause there spirits are with you in a good and loving way. Keep up the great work you do. 😇 You are an angel sent by God. God has given each of us a guardian angel. And God will watch over you and your family. God Bless my Brother in Christ.

Of all your wonderful cleanups , this one got to my heart strings the most. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for restoring some dignity to a forlorn and abandoned cemetery. I love the garden done in the shape of a heart. As a young child I used to think it was sad that cemeteries became forgotten and fell into disrepair. A sad indictment on societal values of the dead, IMO. I always wished there was a national remember the dead and clean a cemetery day, maybe one day. You and your family did an amazing job restoring beauty and showing respect and care into peoples final resting place.

I watched you and your family with all your hearts working on this project. All that came to my mind when you planted that garden at the end was that you had a “heart of gold.” I woke up this morning thinking about your future-born son and this thought came to me. His name shall be Gabriel, which means man of God. Legally, his name shall be Gabriel, but his nickname to all will be Gabe (because you wouldn’t like to call him Gab). Remember that Gabriel in the Bible is an angel who announced Jesus’ birth. That was a high ranking angel. I am sure you will consider your son as an angel!

Thank you for cleaning that cemetery. My grandparents cemetery was bought by a man that didn't know it was a cemetery. It's out of state from where I live, and family keeps up our part of it. Last year a young couple took on the whole cemetery and cleaned 6 foot plus weeds, fallen trees, and garbage that people dumped. Once that clean up was made, the historical society added it to there monthly clean up. You might bring notice to this and by your kindness get this place taken care of for good. At least we were lucky to have that happen for us. As for as baby names we just welcomed baby Luke Donald into our family on Sept 3rd. I wanted it to be Luke Brian, but they wouldn't go for it. LOL

"People are people everywhere." - We really are all more alike than we think. Kindness and empathy for others, no matter how different, can go so far.
I can honor the soldier as a person as well as our collective history without any hatred for what his beliefs might have been. (despite them being very different from my own)
I love seeing you and your family serving others so selflessly. Your daughter's tiny hands scrubbing those headstones, many of them for babies themselves, was so sweet and powerful.
You all are really making the world a better place one lot at a time. The end was beautiful with the flowers.

well you got me on this one Kevin and in more ways than one. Doing something besides homes/businesses is rare with lawncare videos. All the xtra you did with the flags/flowers really got me. Don't worry about uncovering a head stone, there's a guy that has a yt channel and that's almost all he does, find abandoned cemeteries and clears off the headstones. He's in GA so alot of what he finds are confederate soldiers. And then the Mormon boys show up, I lost it and here's why. I'm not but most of my family are Mormon. I just talked to my step sister, a Mormon, last night to tell her what's going on with me and the prayers I needed. And here are two boys praying for your followers. coincidence? I think not. Bless you for doing this and all the xtra you put into it.

As a teenager 6 decades ago, I cut the grass at my church's cemetery by myself. Once. There were no string trimmers, so it was done the hard way. With the machinery you have, one man can do a huge amount of work in one day. This was a spectacular job! Your daughter learned so much working with you. God bless you and your family. @@LawnCareJuggernaut I wrote another post but I feel something is weird with an abandoned cemetery. You might want to look into that. Even if there was a hurricane every state has an agency that has jurisdiction over cemeteries. It's because of public health. You may have stumbled into more than hidden graves. If a local paper would be interested, your cemetery finds would make wonderful stories.

I did my tree a long time ago and what I discovered is that a lot of my ancestors didn't have marked graves. Go back a little over 100 years and where they're from they would end up being in mass graves after being interred for a while (to save space) so where they are now, I'd only have a general idea...

The respect you showed the veterans is heartwarming. I was spit on at Los Angeles ariport less than an hour after I landed after flying in a cargo plane back from Vietnam with hundreds of other soldiers packed like sardines for over 20 hours. Just two days ago some sad person made dispargaging remarks about my Vietnam combat unit sticker I had on the back window of my truck. I had no idea I was a murdering sadist. When will it all stop? The voiceover about enterprise and getting better and better, not lesser & lesser made me think differently about getting older. Anyone can see that your were very committed to this project. Thanks for all the little extras you put into it. When I was a child up in central NY State, I used to help my mother cleanup the untended graves in our little town's cemetery just before Memorial Day, One that day there was always a parade with the high school marching band leading it. The parade ended in the cemetery with veterans shooting off a salute. The heart shape was nice, but I thought you had planned it that way! Also glad to see in the comments from a thankful relative of someone buried there. Blessing to you and your increasing family.
