I love restoring vintage odds and ends. What antique do you want to see Restored?
#lostandrestored
was anyone else a little worried that some of that rust/debris had formally been parts of the lock itself?
I always like watching the lock restorations. It's amazing to see how these old mechanisms work.
Une restauration longue et minutieuse pour un antique cadenas qui le méritait bien. La manière dont vous fabriquez une clef qui s'ajuste au cadenas est tout à fait remarquable. Bravo !
Great engineering skill used to repair and restore this old lock. Fantastic job so well done. As to the debris inside it's a bit of a mystery!
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
I do so enjoy watching you restore old padlocks... and making keys. 👍
You’re pretty good with the locks
That honestly looked like there was more dirt and rust than usable hardware...but you managed to find it!
Another superb restoration and why I subbed to this channel. No fake mock ups here, that lock was toast but this guy worked his magic and lots of elbow grease. 🙂
*WOW!! Great idea with Metal my friend* 👏👏👏
Lock turned out beautiful... Love those homemade keys... Very nice work...
Dude, you rock! That thing was a total mess, you made it better than new. Got a kick from your comments, LOL! 😊
Superb restoration job you did on that padlock and in making a new key for it. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work as usual.
Astonishing Work ! As usual, very talented. Thanks !
Nicely done, and a great choice for locking up that box.
Beautiful, I have a lock like this that was dug up from the yard, cool to see it restored
Genius key crafter!!
Loved the entire video. It was an amazing transformation. Couldn't believe that it could be brought back to life.
Two questions though:
Why did you a glass surface during the sanding process instead of a normal surface?
And
Why you didn't paint the inside of the lock? Wouldn't that have given it more life from the inside.
Amazing video no matter what.
Fantastic restoration!
This was so cool! And making the key too!! I work for a self storage company and I love the line about communication. I get people all the time that can’t remember their key or their code for the gate.🤗
Nice one , a lovely old padlock, you did very well indeed.
You didn’t know it was impossible so you did it 👍🏆👏 Excellent job !
NICE...YOU ARE THE KEY 🔑MASTER!!!
Nice job. 🔐
Awesome 👏 job 😊
All the snapping was a little weird, but making the key was fascinating. Great work!
Nice job! I would have used a sandblaster or made the from and rear from a new piece of metal.
You’re best Locksmith on Planet 🌎
I know you’ve create general keys 🔑 to lock any Locks 🔐
I knew it 😊
See ya next project 😊
Thank you!
Such a beautiful restoration 👍👍
Quedo muy bonito como nuevo
Dude! Nice job, especially on the key!
Really great craftsmanships
Simply amazing👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Very nice and you even made a key for it. Looks pretty good and works great. Thumbs Up!
Класс 👍👍👍
Great job! Anyone know how old this lock is?
That lock looks ancient, like a Civil War relic. I wonder how old it is? Nice work!!
The viewer who sent it to me said her husband found it metal detecting on her grandparents property.
at first i didnt think it was too bad, that was until you opened it, how does a lock get filled with sand(?) and all the internals become dust
Must have been used outdoors in a tropical/subtropical climate, or at least somewhere close to the beach. That also explains the outrageous amount of rust (humidity corrosion)
Have you ever looked at something and thought it was too far gone? I've looked at some of the things you do and thought that, then you prove me wrong.
I had to tell someone no on a pair of antique ice skates last week.
A turd into a treasure!!
So what’s the stuff inside the lock? Is it all rust or is it like some combination of dirt dust and other gunk. I may not know a lot about how rust works but I can’t imagine that rust alone would be able to expand to fill the whole volume of the lock
Tis is a beautiful restoration.👍👍
Brasso?! I haven’t seen Brasso since I was in the Marines, 40+ years ago! 😊
Nice job saving a hunk of rust!!!!
@Lost and Restored, How long did you have to soak it in salt water to get that level of corrosion before filming?
According to the person who sent it to me. She found it metal detecting. I’ll ask her.
why was that so dirty? was it buried or something?
Him: "I love sanding! It's the best!"
Me: *Side eye*
Klasse 👍👍👍
So what was all that rust converted to?
Very nice, just keep doing what your doing.👍👍👍😎😎😎
I bet the key process was long and exhausting
How old is this lock ?
Is there any history on this lock?
You are the best
Chevere. no pierdas la llave
1:25 That’s not a lock, it’s a sandbox!
Do these old locks seem more rugged/stronger than today’s padlocks?
Bardzo ślicznie jest ta stara zabytkowa kłudka odrestaurowane pozdrawiam serdecznie 👍👍👍👍👍
Porque hay tanta tierra dentro?? 🤷🏻♂️
Good keren bro👏👍👍👍👍👍
Am I the only one who screeched at all the crud when the cover can off?
Nope, I screeched too.
Impressionnant
Is that from the Titanic??
Careful showing your feet on the internet. You might get a new following. Awesome restore. Love your work and humor
Looks like they found it in a mucky lake 😮
Sir/Ma’am/whatever gender you are, that ain’t no mud I’m seeing..
How dare you!? I have spent over 40 years, cultivating a grumpy demeanor, often telling people that "there is nothing to smile about in my life"... and your puns made me chuckle.
Don't make me ruin my image.
Beautiful! Like and subscribe 😊
Могёшь!
👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏🥃🥃🥃
"I love sanding"... We need to cancel this guy he is a pretty sick twisted individual.
Are you the one that was offering to restore items viewers send in? I have 2 items that I don't need back if you are interested.
Yep, I restore viewer items. Send me pictures to business@lostandrestored.com.
The video's name should have been "Turning an old steel padlock into a plastic dough one with a brass key welded with tin"... 🤔🤔🤔
Laser rust removeal would have been cooler
would have been better without the finger snapping foolery
🔒🔓🔐🔏🔐🔏🔒🔓❤😊🎉😅
That's not how rust works. This is another fake.
fake rust
You better run or your mom will come…
Nope!! The minute someone uses a filler, I am done watching. Thumbs down...
Nice
