In this video I compare the original German Army Training Shoe (GATS) with the Maison Martin Margiela GATS and the Dior Homme B01 Sneakers from 2002.
Other designers, including Robert Geller and Jil Sander, have also produced their own interpretations of this classic sneaker design.
God you can just see the quality in the Margiela's.... phenomenal!

@@J3o3 yeah but for $300 more why? They aren't even meant to be nice shoes they're runners for people who did basic and stayed off base in the German Army. The originals are just fine

I bought a pair a while back. Paid a bit more than usual but still glad I did.
I found a pair of Onitsuka Tigers the following week for 5$ so it evened out.

+theinformalstyle hey, great vid. People should do moreninformative comparisons. Could you tell us which gat replica is better/which one you prefer? The Dior or the MMM? And why? Which is better bang for your buck?
+SevenWondersHD Thanks, I own a pair of milsurp GATS, and they are great however I can imagine why back in the day a lot of West German soldiers bought and used their own Adidas Samba's or Universal's (I own both styles, true vintage made in Yugoslavia and W-Germany) instead. The OG GATs interior lining is cheap and the leather upper is only so-so. I ask because I am able to get a very good deal on a pair of white Dior GATs with gum soles and a suede strip matching the grey suede on the toebox, instead of the black seen here on the BB01.
I read/saw that MMM GATs are wider and less sleak than the OG? The last seems a little different. Is this true, and should I care about this? The last used by Dior is completely different and arguably more elegant IMO.

the mmm gats are okay, i wouldnt pay above 300$ for them though
margiela fire anytime ....the rest is garbage....
Gotta love those silly clout brands. The extra you have to pay is disproportional to the extra quality you get out of it. And how many people will actually go "woww margiela?"
