Thanks mate! I'm glad the additional context was helpful for you! I know it would have saved me some time and effort in the beginning when I was starting to try out different strings!
Cool info. Thank you. The only thing that has me scratching my head is if jump from 10 feet on to a stiff concrete floor I will not rebound, but i guess we are dropping a pressurized ball. Lol. But my brain is slightly hurting. Love your idea about trying and reviewing hybrids for intermediate level tennis. Tennis warehouse reviews always seem to be “i prefer a full bed of poly” but maybe somebody other than me would use this multi, etc. lol. Would be very unique useful content.
That's actually a totally legit line of thinking. You kind of hit the nail on the head: that you're not a ball (aka designed to do one thing: provide a consistent bounce). The mechanics of how a ball absorbs and then redirects energy is completely different to a human body. If you jump onto a concrete floor from 10ft then your bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles work together to absorb that shock. Your body's priority is to keep you intact! Thanks for the vote of confidence mate! 🍻 I have a lot of interesting experiments upcoming and I'm happy to hear if you have specific ideas for hybrids or personal pain points that you feel aren't too well addressed by other reviewers with more of a following than I.
TW also seem to have a huge bias towards string tension which seems to be at a most stubborn 52lbs. The fact that this reviewer tried 35lbs falls on totally deaf ears of TW who have a nauseating herd mentality, destroying any fair and unbiased review process. Hence why a mountain of people now take their reviews with a mountain of salt.
Have only tried one hybrid...Nxt Power 1.24 in the mains @52 lbs, and Alu Power Fluoro 1.23 in the crosses @50 lbs. Felt very comfortable and consistent. A bit too launchy and spinny at times. I play poly full beds today at around 52 pounds. I'd say there is a point were dropping your tension more, actually takes the ball speed away.
I've been thinking about trying Wilson/Luxilon strings. They're just so arbitrarily expensive that I'm hesitant; can they really be THAT much better? I've come around to the line of thought that there is no harm in trying. I'll give your suggestion a try in the following weeks/months, thanks mate! 👍🏽
I really liked Zero because it offers the best control, spin, stable string bed, playability and durability IMO. But I understand that strings are subjective to each individuals. Strung hybrid setup on my wife's racket a Babolat Pure Aero 2019 with Toroline Wasabi 1.23 50lbs on mains and Gamma Synth Gut 1.27 48lbs on crosses.
Hey mate, yeah the whole racket setup thing is very subjective 👍🏽 Zero is a really good string, no doubt about it. I'm glad you've found it to be such a good combination of all these traits! It all comes down to what's right for YOU. We're all different so what's right for me may be very wrong for you. Your wife's hybrid is pretty interesting actually. What's the rationale behind that setup?
@@11sweetspot11 true, I won't judge anyone based on their racket and string preference. I was experimenting with hybrids on my wife's racket since she's used to poly-synth gut hybrid. Tried some poly - multi hybrid but didn't work for her somehow. My guess is that she was looking for a more comfortable poly on mains and Toroline Wasabi just clicked for her.
I bought some sets of Zero (1.28; would have got 1.23 but it was sold out) but I didn't really gel with it, kind of plasticky and stiff in my Speed MP, like you noted. It was probably around 48lbs but another poster on this thread has suggested 40 x 36 lbs so I might try that with my last set. Great to have your thoughts; I play about the same level. Hybrid wise, the only one I've really liked is Kirschbaum Super Smash x Gamma TNT2 React Pro 1.32 @45lbs both ways
Thanks mate 🙏🏽, good to hear that I'm not the only one that feels this way about the plasticky and stiff nature of Zero. I have another related video coming up (review of newest offering Sync) where I'll talk about Zero's muted-ness, which I found to be on the higher end of the spectrum. Thanks for the hybird suggestion! I've had Super Smash on my list of strings to try, and having a suggested hybird now means I might be getting to it sooner than I thought. Stay tuned! 👍🏽😄
@@11sweetspot11 ok cool. I've used Super Smash 1.23 in an 18x20 hybrid at 42 lbs and 1.28 in a 16x19 at 45; happy with both. I've been using sub-50 lb tensions for a while as I had tennis elbow in the past. Fwiw Nikola Aracic of Intuitive Tennis uses Super Smash full bed at, I think, 40-42 lbs or thereabouts. Good luck with your set ups.
Try zero mains at 40 and cross at 36....i got tired of hybrids and different reels ..crosses are shorter so if you make it the same tension then your actually making the bed stiffer...4 pouns less on cross was my sweetspot on polys

That’s a really interesting combo! I’ve never tried those strings so I’ll add them to my list of hybrids to try! Nice to meet someone else playing at these tensions; how’d you end up settling on these numbers? My hybrid experiments are going to start getting published in 1 month’s time so stay tuned!
Nice video. Never tried restring zero but have seen quite a bit of favorable videos. I only use Wilson champions choice. Gut in mains 55 ALU Power crosses 53.
Thanks mate! ReString is cut from the same cloth as Hyper-G, so if you look at that kind of a string favourably then there’s a high chance you would like ReString. ReString is muted though. That’s come to be my biggest issue with it and why I can’t see myself playing with it. I talk about it in my next upcoming video. I’ve always wanted to try Champs Choice! Have you tried any other gut hybrid? I’ve got some interesting experiments with gut coming up for 2024 so I’ll take any suggestions as food for thought 😊
I use Bolt rackets. I have two: 98L V1 and 100L V1. You can check out these frames here: www.boltadvance.com/ As for tensions: my range is 35-45lbs depending on the string. I tend to mostly stay in the 35-40lbs range.
I can only really speak for the ones I've personally played with, so here they are: 1 - YTEX ProTour Blue 2 - Solinco Outlast/ProStacked (hybird) 3 - Gosen OG Sheep Micro Some notes: - I think the Solinco Outlast/ProStacked setup could play better if you replaced the ProStacked with a multifilament that retains tension better. - I think Gosen OG Sheep Micro would be best when it is hybrid with a poly. I have some interesting experiments planned around this for 2024 so stay tuned! 😊🙏🏽
Good question; I have tried that actually. I put up a video about my experiments too: th-cam.com/video/DAGQdj-bDYQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TajFPBrmQcvS2pUb I went through a whole reel of Hyper-G in various rackets at various tensions before putting up that video. In this case Hyper-G and Hyper-G Soft were too similar. There was nothing Hyper-G Soft brought to the table that I couldn't get by just lowering the tension with regular Hyper-G. At the end of the day, Hyper-G and Restring Zero are cut from the same cloth. Beckett from TennComm describes it well: th-cam.com/video/Pwx0sI9Vj3Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fe32KV3on6uY-jr0 They both have a plastic-y and stiff feel that doesn't provide enough ball pocketing and feel for me unless I smack the ball really hard or string them at very low tensions. But then they become way too powerful for the same reasons I talked about in this video. There's no substitute for the inherent stiffness of a string. That's why YTEX ProTour Blue remains my favorite string to date. Sometimes I wonder if I'm on this string journey only to convince myself that I have already found the best string for my game 🤣
I see Zero as essentially a newer Hyper-G. They're both cut from the same cloth. Hyper-G is popular for a reason: it offers a good combination of control and spin at a pretty attractive price without being crazy stiff like Tour Bite is. So I'm not surprised that Zero has been received well (although Zero's pricing isn't attractive)
Yes!! Thank you for acknowledging the preference trends of different reviewers. That really helps us to understand the takeaways from reviews!
