You do not want to steep burdock since it is a thick woody root, you will barely extract anything out of the root that way. For roots and seeds you must simmer them on a low flame to really extract, you will know when the water turns reddish/ruddy. Yours was light brown.

Water=spoilage You’d do best to make a tincture, which is an alcohol extraction (this will be the most potent kind of extract and has a shelf life of years) Use the burdock tincture in your salve instead of a tea/decoction. If you are concerned about using alcohol you can substitute it for vegetable glycerin

Never used Burdick before I read a Dr Sebi book it was listed as a herb to use.

Not to be a bummer, but burdock root isn’t oil soluble meaning none of the benefits/vitamins will be extracted by the oil. This herb is water soluble.
@ChellCandle; according to Google, if you use heat Burdock Root will infuse into oil.
