I have a love-hate relationship with Anthurium, aka Flamingo Lily. They are beautiful plants but they have always challenged me. I recently picked up two Flamingo Lily plants on a Managers Special for $6.00 each. They were not in the best of shape to begin with but I thought I would give it a try and revive them back to health. They were overcrowded in the pots so I repotted and separated them. I ended up with 5 so far.
What I have learned is they need to be misted and watered only when they are bone dry. I am determined to keep these ladies alive. I look forward in learning more about tropical house plants. Thank you for sharing this video. New subber here. MountainAngel CA USA

So I keep watching videos….I figured out from this one I was working with an anthurium STEM. It’s been in water, at a slant (rock under it). I finally have 2 different places towards one end where baby leaves have come thru……..with a third one sprouting. Other roots and things are sprouting out pretty much all over, but not from the very top of the stem. Is this normal? Would each one of these leaves on the stem be a plant or can I plant the stem in dirt sideways? Thanks for any help!!

I keep mine for a very long time. If it starts to look green or smelly you can boil it then strain it to disinfect. When staining, dump water in outside garden just incase sediment clogs drains. Better safe than sorry.

I have a good question. Not just fot anthuriums. When we cut off the rest and leave just a stump in the pot, do we need to trim some roots away?
I had this situation where my veitchii and 69686 roots were starting to rot away afterwards. because big root ball and no leaves (?). am I doing something wrong? It's as if it becomes a problem - roots would stop sucking water in, and if I stop watering they dry up too much (which also causes root rot afterwards). Is there a solution for these kinds of situations? should I change the soil into more porous..? What am I missing?

Hi Jeff, my anthurium leaf suddenly yellowing after two days of transfer it into semi hydro pumice (ran out of perlite) from soil. Should I cut the leaf since the root is still okay (not rotting)? What is your opinion on this?

    • @EverythingPlants
