My Grandma special ordered the 3 disc music CD set titled "Kefka's Domain" from Japan because I would always hum and try to figure out the music on our piano. It's basically part of my DNA now. Best gift, and best Grandma ever. 😊
FF6. The absolute GOAT. I must have rented this game about eight times before my parents finally bought it for me. Beat it multiple times in my life. They haven't made anything better since. Close maybe, but not better.
One of my favorite games, it never came to Finland but luckily there was a store that had imported and sold a adapter so i could play it with my brother.
FF7 was a disappointmemt for me too. I do like the music and backdrops, but gameplay and characters and story... not so much. At least Sephiroth is a memorable villian, I can't for the life of me remember the boss in any FF game after that... but yea Kefka kicks his ass for sure!
I think games like this usually have to be nostalgic for it to hit the same. Graphics only matter if theres no nostalgic attachment. I'm the same with PD2 Project Diablo 2. I'll only play D2R because i never really gamed original d2 like that back in the day.
a heck of a game. my most replayed rpg game. now play return of the dark sorcerer v 2.9.7-3.0, the remastered remastered version of FF vi, played on easiest difficulty for sound track A, then play on expert for sound track B. NOT on a regular console though. I want to go back to 2020 when playing it for the first time. Greatest game hack upgrade of all time
Favorite overall soundtrack ever. This will forever be one of my very favorite games evveerr. Yoouu Rock, Mike. Been a fan of yours since the beginning ( around 2006 ) There's a lot to love about FF6 ( annd it is somewhat 2 Player, .. which is reeally reeally cool! ) All the best to ya my bro
I also remember paying 80 of my very own bucks for this. I was so fucking excited walking back to the car with my mom, somehow I knew it was gonna be my favorite game even though I had only really seen a couple screenshots in a magazine. FF2 was really fun, and I had beat that one at this point, but the steampunk aesthetics I saw just got me so pumped.
Awesome! I was really hoping I'd get to see you play FF6 (Probably my favorite Final Fantasy) but I remember in a stream you said that you wanted to save RPG's for when your hands are in worse condition. Here's a list of some of the best RPG's that I'd love to see you play: All the Final Fantasy games (especially 6, 8 and 10, and excluding 12 and 13) Chrono Trigger Chrono Cross (The sequel and my favorite rpg of all time) Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360) Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (PS2) And there's a really good rom hack of 6 called FF6: Return of the Dark Sorcerer
I don't blame you. These games really draw you in, especially back in the good old days when things were simpler. It's really sad that we'll never have times like that again, not even our children. The world is just too crazy now with the recent technology and social media. There's just too much going on.
I've been waiting for this one lol. FF6 is my favorite game ever made. Also, you stopped right before you met Gau and had the veldt music you were wanting to hear.
Oh man. Final Fantasy VI. Started playing this game back in 2013, and spent the last 10 years playing this game on and off. Stopped playing it for like 8 years because I didn't know how to progress, and a few weeks ago decided to continue where I left off from that same save file and immediately made progress, didn't use a guide or look it up or anything. Made another 7 hours worth of progress in the last 2 weeks of playing it, before getting stuck again, not knowing what to do next. My save file showing a total of 19 hours 33 minutes playing this game, I've once again stopped playing the game and probably will never make any more progress, and I refuse to look up a walkthrough because I don't like cheating. Probably the longest I've spent playing a game without beating it. Such a good game, but it's a shame that I'll never beat it.
Made my day to see this pop up. Great background noise for work! I love the wizard hat, but don’t you think some steampunk goggles would fit the game well😂
Definitely my favorite FF growing up, though I would make 4 my current favorite. Just recently replayed it doing the CES natural abilities/magic challenge (includes not equiping stuff which you learn spells from) and it was still fun. Me and my brother had a major fight one time because he saved before the fight before Wrexsoul. There's no escaping it. It took me at least two months to beat him so we could progress.
great BGM: a huge vod bonus. seeing this pop up on my feed made me smile... need Chrono Trigger be mentioned? the classics age well & only get better - your streams as well - thx Mike
Mike, have you ever played FFIV on Nintendo DS or Steam? It's got polygons, but they keep the presentation pretty true to the SNES or GBA versions with better translation. It's one of the FF Remakes that Square Enix got right, in my opinion. When comparing the SNES versions, FFVI was better in terms of graphics and gameplay, but I thought the characters were better developed in FFIV.
4:24:00 hahahaha yeah that’s how it is huh. We had our games for a looong time back then and I’m 35. Your Mum bought you I dunno, if it was Lion King on SNES then too bad that’s your game for a year or maybe 6 months. But I went to the video store down the block and they started selling SNES games for $5 so I got some good sh !t there. Mario Kart. Metal Marines. Secret of Mana. DKC2. MK3. Killer Instinct. Mystic Quest Legend. Lawnmower Man. And some not so good games. Batman Forever. Last Action Hero. Aero the Acrobat.
Great Stream! I'm sad not to see it live but on the other hand I would have backseat driving syndrome in any FF stream. For instance, in the first TunnelArmor battle Locke could have just healed in between a few attacks while Celes continually invokes runic. Probably would have required at 3 most potions since the enemy had less than 1800 HP and Locke hits for around 175 each round.
When you play as Locke and that great music comes up and continues through the battles, that feature is so epic! I always thought that more jrpgs should have done this.
Never played it but I will. This and Chrono Trigger. Supposed to be two of the greatest RPGS of all time (so far). I just scrolled to a random point and saw the purchasing of the Star Pendant which I remembered was in FF7(ps1) and it also protects against poison. Idk why that was so cool to see.
grind progress. done a few NCPD encounters. but mostly fresh playthrough ov Street Life Path Cyberpunk. Shotgun. Revolver. Reboot Optics. Bait. only. (Fenrir as a reward for Clearing Watson). Thanks for keeping an oulde weird freak company :)>

Also thanks for the direct comment I made on the Mario game . You made an excellent point . Please make more videos like that if you have the time it was great I laughed my ass off.
The art in this game is so amazing. From the profile pictures to the graphics in the instruction booklet. I was always in awe of the book art especially.
BTW If Mike like this OST he might be interested in hearing the orchestral version (Also there is even a full version of the opera scene). Ultros approve
41:08 You said it, Mike. If your dream is to make good video games, don't let anything stop you. Just do it on the side of your day job if you have to. Mike, you mentioned working of the old Looney Tunes cartoons. Is that what you would want to do as your greatest aspiration in life, or is there something else? Or are you already doing it with your streaming?
When I actually got the chance to do animation I found it more tedious than I could handle. I like to draw, but I’d rather illustrate one drawing than many to get characters from point A to point B. I’m not cut out for it. So yeah I’m much rather play games.
@@mikematei Yeah, it's massively time-consuming. There are modern digital techniques like tweening that can help speed things a little. Would I have liked it if it had come out in Germany back then when I had a Super Nintendo? Hard to say, my experiences with JRPGs back then was with Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (which I loved but which is basically had Super Mario Wonder level of difficulty as a JRPG) and afterwards Secret Of Mana (falsely thinking it was a similar RPG to Mystic Quest before but giving up early...though I watched my brother play through it). As for now, even in this first part, I can see why it is considered one of the best JRPGs on SNES or even one of the greatest games of all time. Lots of interesting ideas on display here (not staying with the same party all through the game but diversifying it, fighting a ghost train, doing attacks with button inputs similar to a fighting game) and as Mike said some very good music to listen to. It is actually quite easy to die during several of these first battles; the most tricky battle during the Narshe part in the beginning is probably the 2 Vomammoths, since they can actually throw Snowstorm on your entire party and pretty much cause an instant Game Over.
One of the all time greatest RPG’s in my opinion. Stoked to see Mike give this a go. Hell yeah! 🤘
Yeah, it's pretty good.
He’s played it before. He has said it’s one of his favorite games
But will he finish it or stop at 90% like final fantasy 5. Either or, still glad to finally see a stream of it.
Best game of all time. It’s science.
it's way up there with one of the best. also phantasy star 4 and tactics ogre. amazing games.

Thank you for streaming this game Mike. Very nostalgic and cozy. The music is so cinematic.
This is my favorite ff
I have played it once a year, every year since its release. So great!
I remember when kids would talk about this game on the playground at recess. Fun memories.
FF6. The absolute GOAT. I must have rented this game about eight times before my parents finally bought it for me. Beat it multiple times in my life. They haven't made anything better since. Close maybe, but not better.
Yeah FF9 got really close but not quite there.
FF9 was the best one in the ps1/2 era for sure. The more modern ones, 13 or after, I haven't even tried.
One of my favorite games, it never came to Finland but luckily there was a store that had imported and sold a adapter so i could play it with my brother.
Hey Mike, I love seeing this game get played again. I still play it about once every two years. Great pick!
Glad to see this finally happening. My all-time favorite game, alongside The Witcher 3. FF4 is right up there too.
It's always a good time when Mike doffs the wizard hat.
First RPG i ever played. Was hooked ever since
I remember that Mike once said that he possibly liked this game even better than "The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past".
Magical game
Good to know Bimmy has a good friend in you to take your footage and stories and claim them as his own
Blows me away that people tell me FF7 is their favorite but won’t play the SNES games cause of the “old” graphics.
ff7 is trash
