  • Backfilling a crawl space and starting the driveway. This is a new construction house that someone else dug the crawl space and the concrete guy I work for poured the walls. I brought the 2150 over the first day to back fill the porches and dig out the grass in the garage that was left. I didn't get a ton of camera angles cause the homeowner was there all afternoon walking around. I came back with the loader and the 260 to bust out the curb and put two loads of 3" rock in the driveway entrance. I'll be back at some point to finish rough grading the yard. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #crawlspace

    I'm with you on the foundation drain. But folks want to save money and cut corners. Good looking work, as always...

    Contractors cut so many corners these days!! You have the right ideas but only can do what they want to pay for! Such a shame so who ever buys this house probaly will have foundation problems in the future when the contractor has walked away!! Stay safe!!

      Thanks! I agree seems like a no brainer to do something with the footing exposed. I’ll just make sure I slope everything away from the house. Appreciate you watching

    Hey BRANDON - "VERY CHEAP" insurance for that additional glass between your FACE/EYES and 'potential'! NICE WORK there, 'good buddy' - gentle touch and never missing a control. Wish that garage didn't have that mess in it! Not sure YOU or DAD would have left if like that! Thanks for another one!

    It seems to me… if you can’t get inside to pack it down… soupy wet is the best way to pour the fill that you had. It was well over 50% rock. It will pour into place. It won’t leave any voids. And, once the moisture drains, it’ll set up like a rock. Having surface rain will only improve the packing in. If the contractor can wait until it dries up a bit, a compactor will turn it into a brick!
    Brandon, I deal with a damp crawl space all of the time. And, I live on top of a hill! The contractor might be shaving the wrong corner when leaving out perimeter drains. I know it is common around here… but that doesn’t make it a best practice! That’s my 2 cents worth!
    I poured a half inch out of the rain gauge, yesterday and already have 3/4” more. My yard needs mowed but it ain’t getting it for a while!
    You had the right Koochies for both jobs. Just enough reach and bucket for the fill… and the best driveway shaper ever built!

    Barring any ground water issues, a foot of good clay for back full around the crawl space is more than enough. Then as long as the top soil is slopped away from the house and gutter spouts pitched far enough away also, you should have a nice dry crawl space. Good work though!

    Here, code says a positive drain from inside the foundation. Waterproofing outside the foundation with a french drain system around the perimeter. Some contractors I dig for prefer a 20" footing with an 8" foundation wall with most of the footing projected to the outside giving them about 8" to waterproof and to lay their perimeter drain on. It works really well and gives the house a bigger footprint to sit on. Good job again brother.

      Nice! That’s what people do here on most basements but they never do anything to crawl spaces. Kind of weird.

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is what they do here as well. We have grey clay below most areas and it doesn’t leech. Most times it’s thin enough to dig out and still install septic fields, but that would be a huge dig and backfill for a crawl space and be deep enough for a basement. It’s cheap protection. Well the pipe USED to be cheap,,,,,,.
      Stay safe fellas!!

    I have 2" PVC pipe every 4' through my footings so water can go through. 4" tile inside the footing and outside which goes to the sump pump.
    18" of crushed stone over the entire basement floor with a vapour barrier, 2" foam board then rebar with 6" of concrete with infloor heat. The tile on the outside footing has 18" of crushed stone with a filter cloth then backfilled with sand to about a foot below final grade. I have not had any problems in 20 years since I built the house. Drainage is everything. Codes are, in all reality a minimum acceptance. I'll spend a bit more.
    Keep smilin

    There was a small amount of fill on the grass and i wonder if the previous excavator got fired when the contractor saw he was planning to just fill straight on the sod.

    • @eliteearthworksllc

      I think that was from the concrete guys having to dig some more for the crawl space open in the garage. They weren’t very happy how the area was dug out

    Seems odd to see footings on top of the ground. Southeast Ne. I think 48" is the norm and then at that just as well put in a full basement.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a crawl space not a basement plus those walls will have the weight of the house on them so you wouldn’t want to cut them

    Hey Brandon.
    Looks good! Funny the previous excavator did all that work and then to somehow diminish his work,,, leaves the topsoil in the middle of the garage!! 😂. Could have done a fantastic job excavating all of the crawl space, but that’s all covered up now so the only evidence of the quality is 20 minutes or so of work simply not done,,,,. Oh well. We know you don’t do that as you remove the topsoil for the entire footprint as a standard practice!! Not wanting to dig at the previous guy though, they may have had a reason at the time,,,, (???).
    That grading bucket has been quite the game changer!! Moves a lot of dirt in a short time. You have developed quite the knack for using it to its optimal capabilities so far as well! Nice job Brandon!! As I have said before, the “soil” you have there,,,, oh well hardly need any gravel to finish out before concrete due to the soil being principally gravel!! Haha. I know the fill was chosen to be that way,,,,, but as you spread the other stuff, there were some good sized rocks (boulders?) rolling in there.
    The driveway base looks pretty decent now. Once they back the cement truck over it, there will be some serious compaction,,,,,, hahaha. The amount of rain you are about to get (have had by now) would shut them down for about a week here. Framing could be done in the mud mind you,,, ugghhhh.
    We are dry as h*ll here!! There are some reserves for the crops deeper down, but not much!! If you think of it,,, try to send some of that rain up here!!! 😂😂 I may be pretty glad we are not still on that mountainside we lived on last year!! It was a lot of work to keep a green belt for fire protection and I had to mow even though we had planned around zero mowing of the property!! Haha. I still own the 5 acres beside that property though. Rented out the 2 bedroom suite above the garage and he has horses. They will keep the grass in check got that property…. 2 properties side x side yet so very different!! Rock on the higher one and decent soil on the lower one!! I’ll keep it as rental holding property for a while. The guy moving in wanted a 10 year lease!! Based on how well he maintained his previous rental property, and the work he has done on this property already, I may extend the 1 year lease to 5 years anyways. Set and forget tenant ( he’s more like a steward,,,,)!! My favourite kind!
    Hoping Mrs Elite and gang are all doing well. Almost expect to see your dad on every video now!! Haha.
    Please stay safe, all of you.

      Yeah they had a little track loader and I think they were in a hurry. The grading bucket has been fantastic! I didn’t realize how much I would actually use it. I’m glad I got it. Mrs Elite is good I’m trying to get her to come on a project here soon she needs to get back out there. Nice those are the renters you want 👍🏻
