Yeah, I haven't flown with a gopro or action camera on my quads for years UNLESS I actually have a plan to film something. The DVR/on board is good enough for extremely casual social media posts or sharing with friends. I used to fly many years ago before digital fpv existed, with some lightweight action cameras ... they were close to the same quality as on-board or digital DVR.

I also modified cam mounting with 3D print more forward for my digital quad and so my propeller out of the camera frame
I personally don't mind seeing props...it lets you know its FPV drone and not someone holding a camera on a motorbike

I would say it completely subjective. There are so many variables on how to employ a camera and what the ultimate goal is.
