Great video and info. Going to go for my first religion playthrough tonight. I'm normally a science victory guy but wanting to master the other victories
Finally great tutorial about Civilization! It is well edited, so it's 1 hour packed with information instead of 10 hours full playthrough with information here and there Absolutely recommended Note to Van Bradley (if he reads comments): I think you should make this tutorials as a single video to emphasize the fact that it's a complete one hour tutorial (and not just part #1 out of 10-parts * 47 minutes tutorial series)
Great video as usual VB - just one point to note. The number of Great Prophets available is set by map size and has nothing to do with the number of civs, you can add or remove as many of them as you want but on a Small map you will still only have 4 Prophets available. Here are the numbers:- ║ Duel 2 ║ Tiny 3 ║ Small 4 ║ Normal 5 ║ Large 6 ║ Huge 7
You could have got a 5 faith Holy site in your capital if u built it on the copper 3 tiles southwest. That was adjacent to 2 natural wonder tiles and the mountain
Yup. That’s why I like going mining first so I can place holy sights on copper and woods if I need to. Makes it faster to get a good one up and running
Great video. And I note from my experience is that, if your religion is the first religion of your cities (hope I make it clear here), the AI then will not compete with you for thoes cities
This is absolutely not played on Deity by any chance. AI on deity runs for Great Prophet when sees you want him and there is no chance to get him if you are not very very fast. In addition, they always have more cities and when you start converting their cities, they react immedialy by building enormous army of inquisitors and apostles.
Attempting a religious win today I got forced into a war with Pachacuti for 150 turns and Menelik II decided to go on a full on religious crusade and made that implausible now working toward a domination victory since I already own cuti’s capital from the war
Me watching him fight for plus 3, knowing full well i absolutely stumbled on the god combo of mother russia+dance of the aurora... Ive been killing with that plus work ethic as the religious belief, real easy to build early military if need be with that build once you get a couple holy sites, at least 3 tundra cities.
I've bought opposing religions apostles, just to spread to cities I am converting via loyalty pressure, and need/want that little extra "not following their own religion" penalty. usually when I take over a city on a distant content, and haven't converted it yet (or, if i have no religion, so I use theirs)
off topic: Anyone else like to just play standard rules, instead of gathering storm, etc? For some reason I cant get into the newer mechanics in the DLCs.
@@danielbakergillnot really? It shows he’s actually interested in the topic. Do you want him to be completely monotone??? Sorry you can’t project well hun
What difficulty is this? I'm only playing on Emperor, not Deity but no matter how often I start a new game I always always always get flooded with barbs in the early game. So no way of settling a second city within the first 20 turns. How do you guys do this? Its one of the most frustrating thing watching videos where people have like 4-5 cities by turn 50 while I'm still busy producing my 3rd settler at best
My tip, just link a warrior with a settler and rush through the ancient walls. No matter what they do, they cannot pillage your settlements beyond a 5-7 turn damage (keep a repairing worker in the beginning with 1 builds always left). Keep ancient walls and archers to bombard from a distance and a warrior to finish every intruder on first turn itself. Pick one by one.
I apologize for the late message and if this was covered. Is Rome the best for a religious victory? I’ve been trying to do use with the Russians. Thank you!
Rome isn’t the best for any particular victory, but is just a really good all around Leader. That’s why I chose him to do this series on 😊 Russia is a better Religious Civilization so you should be ready and raring to go for a victory here 👌
@@VanBradley You were quite right! Took a couple of false starts due to crappy starting position, but things turned out pretty good in the end. Thank you!
@@StylezGamez a holy site on the copper is a +5 with the 2 adjacent wonder tiles and the mountain. He would have made some gold back from purchasing the copper tile by harvesting it
@@StylezGamez holy site gets +2 for each natural wonder tile. not each adjacent natural wonder. so copper gives +5 total. +2 twice from two natural wonder tiles. and +1 from mountain. so total +5
how do you know where to place your cities and where the campuses, holy sites and wonders are gonna go? looks like you know precisely where you are going to build your districts, holy sites and wonders.
Extremely late but here I am I guess, your districts get an adjacency bonus depending what you place them next to. Mountains and rainforests provide science (I think, could be slightly wrong), markets get a bonus being near rivers, religious sites get a bonus near mountains and maybe even wonders
Hoping somebody can help me I bought this game for four dollars on my Nintendo switch. I’m really enjoying it however I cannot buy any religious units. I’ve maxed out all my religious buildings have something like 30,000 faith. On a previous game it let me buy religious units and then later on it would not let me buy any religious units in the same city even though I had a ton of faith I don’t know if it’s an issue with the Nintendo switch, it also could be I did notby the expansion, for instance I can’t see where you buy governors to run your cities. I just don’t have the option on the base game. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm trying to apply what I'm seeing here but I totally don't get what I'm doing wrong I have a religion founded on turn 49 but I have no amenities and no buildings to produce faith because my cities are just so far behind other games I've played casually have gone way better than this but this is my third time trying to play up faith and it just isn't working for me. I keep getting these 0 resource starts and even if my main city is doing well all my satellite ones just don't have production or food like I won a game on prince with the lowest score just by allying with two nations and running everybody over with religion but it was boring and I could tell I wasn't getting anything done, my largest city had 7 citizens
Always check the apostle promotions before using the apostle to evangelize a belief. Only a couple of the promotions are any good & it's really common to have a bunch of apostles with crap promotions. If you get an apostle with debater or with one of the stronger spread promotions, don't waste the good apostle on evangelizing.
In germany we call it "lispeln" (lisp) and its been looked at as a defunction, that you just cant pronounce words correctly for whatever reason. Most kids with braces f.e. cant pronounce some letters properly and you actually can/might get bullied for "lispeln". Which most of the time is just "forgetting" to pronounce some letters in your words.
I'm a loud person who had noise cancelling headphones and no in ear monitor, or any kind of audio editing skill! 😂 The audio is like a million times better as the videos move forward, specifically the last two months or so. New microphone, new audio interface (with a monitor so I can hear myself) etc...
