  • Siargao is nearly ready to launch it's international CRUISE ship port after Philippines won the BEST Cruise destination in Asia award. We took a journalistic trip down to the construction site today to see what the real progress looks like in Dapa, Surigao Del Norte. Where the future of sea travel is going to take place on this beautiful island in Mindanao. The staff there told us that the Siargao international port will be finished in March 2024 and will allow direct boats from Manila to Siargao. This is exciting news.

  • @mariab4459

In Palawan it's been years there's cruise ships coming.

  • @rm_alfaro

The Philippines had a total of 125 ports of call or cruise calls last year in 2023. Currently, the cruise ship terminals in the Philippines which have the capacity and have actually received international cruise ships are the Port of Manila, Puerto Princesa Port, Port of Coron & El Nido Port in Palawan, Tagbilaran Port in Bohol, Port of Romblon in Romblon, Cagban Port in Boracay, Legazpi Port in Albay, Currimao Port in Ilocos Norte, Salomague Port in Ilocos Sur, and Port of Subic Bay in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is currently constructing additional cruise ship terminals in Palawan, Boracay, Siargao, Camiguin, Cebu and Puerto Galera in Mindoro to accomodate larger ships and ensure a safe and more comfortable travel experience for passengers.

Very true, Philippines should encourage foreigners with cruise ship experience and Filipino seafarers with international experience in Europe to set up efficient cruise ship purchase and logistics systems, then the Philippines will truly begin to shine. Allow foreigners to work on the ships alongside the Filipino sailors with international experience, and set the benchmark tone of how it should all be run...

We thank you also for your contribution to our Tourism Industry by promoting the beauty of Siargao, it's beaches, environment and cultural heritage ❤

It makes sense. 7000+ islands - go island hopping! There can be mini local cruises not just big ones. Island hopping in the Philippines 🏝️🛳️🏝️🛳️🏝️🛳️🏝️🛳️🏝️🛳️🏝️🛳️🏝️

The Philippines won again (and again) as the World's Leading Diving Destination (5 consecutive years) and the World's Leading Beach Destination (2 consecutive years) in the prestigious World Travel Awards 2023, the Oscars of the travel industry, held in Dubai last December 1, 2023.

  • @mountainforest

There are int’l ports in Boracay, Bohol, Palawan etc.

  • @stuckinparadise9676

Hi 8 Miles fam! Very true that Siargao is struggling to modernize. It may take another 10-15 years for the municipality to have decent cruise facilities. It's not like the Channel Tunnel, you know. It's typical "Filipino time" 😐

  • @sallysuay809

Siargao airport will be upgraded to handle bigger airplane as per DOT program.

  • @virginiagallego4805

Jay and family please go visit another island like Panay island negros island romblon island and mindoro island that’s really beautiful and Palawan also every island deferent character deferent food you’re going to love it .

  • @cherirose4463

Maybe they didn’t base it on the ports. They based it on the destination itself. Otherwise, nobody would actually take a cruise to a 😊very nice port

  • @AngryKittens

Palawan and Boracay by themselves likely secured the win. I mean people go to these cruises for the tropical beaches. And the contenders don't exactly come close to offering that. Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan, are awesome destinations but don't have tropical beaches. Thailand's beaches are few and overcrowded. Vietnam's, Sri Lanka's, and India's are nice, but not the postcard-worthy beaches you can find in actual islands. Even the beaches of Salomague Island, Ilocos (which aren't that well-known, but also has a cruise port) eclipse theirs by orders of magnitude.

  • @louislanuza1419

a cruise ship from australia had already docked-in in one of the municipality of our province of masbate.the tourists wanted to peek the view of katandayagan falls (which meets the river water below 60 feet above sea water) and a writer claimed it had only 8 other places that had similarities around the world.i think they had gone to other islets/islands but i im not sure where they had gone through surrounding other municipalities of masbate in san jacinto and monreal (like halea beach, burobangkaso, san miguel island etc).

  • @avid580

We take it with a grain of salt. It'll get there soon. Fingers crossed.

  • @arvinlumbris4447

Because the beauty of the Philippines especially thousands of Islands to visit it would be branded as the next best cruise destination not necessarily the best cruise destination or the ship would be docked at the center and boats will bring them to the port maybe something like that.

  • @jeree-chu5567

I hope they start to fully develop Siargao like how they did in Bali. I hope Department of Tourism should do more with that Port development ...

  • @samueldetecio8229

Thanks by promoting our country as one of best destination in terms of tourism.

  • @daynatorngren7699

It’s still a developing country! You shouldn’t expect a lot.
