Yes, it's hard to blame a contestant for not taking Richard's answer because he's been known to berate them if they don't: "Why didn't you trust me? We would have been playing for $5,000 now!" I imagine he's (sort of) kidding, but his tone and facial expression don't convey any humor to me. At any rate, here are some recent examples of when Richard was chosen to give the first suggestion but his answer wasn't anywhere on the audience match board: Episodes 901, 902, 906, 911, 914, 921, 923, 927, 949, 975, 977, 978. So when Gene says (as he did in an earlier show) that Richard is always right, I have to shake my head.
