Thanks for all of your videos about the new CT125! I have two of them reserved here in the USA... we're just waiting for the (hopeful) delivery date in November. I'm anxious to get mine and start kitting them up for adventure touring and moto-camping. Your videos have been helping me to pre-plan some of the upgrades. Cheers! 😉👍 ‐‐QM

happy to hear they have been of some help. i looked at your channel last year when you bought the supercub. i was going to buy on here used but they wanted too much. at the time i'd just bought a new 900 street scrambler in a triumph and saw your supercub
they were impossible to buy new and two used were available and i think they wanted AU$8K and AU$9500
then i heard later the hunter was coming out so got in early

That last little plate with the two holes that you installed is upside down. You can see it hitting the top curved part of the main mounting plate and not allowing it to sit flush. If you flip that little plate, it will give the clearance you need for it to sit flush.

I had exactly the same thought as Spydie. Why would they use U-brackets when short steel bolts and washers would seem to work much better and likely provide a stronger mount, also? I really don't like those U-brackets holding that tank mount. I can see their edges wearing into the bracket after a while and causing the holes to elongate, eventually damaging the bracket and making the tank wobble. If it was me, I would use the supplied U-brackets to hold a political sign on a steel pole and head for the hardware store to pick up four steel bolts and four washers, to hold the bracket on to the plate. In any case, having that extra fuel onboard is certainly going to be a good feeling when you are traveling long distances while out in the rough. The fuel tank on the CT125 seems a bit small for the U.S. market, if you ask me.

I had a 1972 90 and that little spare would get you 50 miles more. Enough to get to a station. The only problem was it was a rustable metal, and it did. I also had to in time get a new strainer screen in the bottom of the tank as it rusted shut and the reserve stopped working.

@@scottboyan That gas tank always comes with U-bolts. I bought one last year for my Vespa. The U-bolts go around things like carry racks. It wasn't specifically made for that CT125 side mount. those are two different objects made by two different companies. Neither one knows what the other is doing. In fact, I saw one guy put the U-bolts around the edge of the CT125 carry rack instead of buying a dedicated metal plate mount. That's what I'm going to do so I don't have to remove the tool box.

I will also comment I really like the way you mounted the milk crate. That was a good idea placing a rubber mat under the basket to protect the finish on the luggage rack. I use a rubber mat under my tank bags to protect the finish on the bike's gas tank and to keep them from sliding around on the tank's surface. I also like the idea of using zip ties to fasten the basket to the rack. A cheap and secure solution and one that is easily removed if you get tired of seeing a blue milk crate on the back of your bike and want to try another color. lol

Beware nylon cable ties! While they are strong and hold well when NEW,
they degrade with exposure to sunlight. I've had a bunch of black cable ties
which did nothing more than support coaxial TV cables against an iron gas pipe
snap spontaneously after 3 years with nothing more than 3 hours of afternoon sun
per day. As a preventive measure, since they're cheap, I'd just replace them annually.

The exhaust muffler (silencer) is in the way on the other side.

@@sympatheticchimp5949 - But even if it fits, would you want to put a fuel container next to a hot exhaust silencer? The heat would promote vaporization, and that would be a bomb in the event of a crash. The heat might even promote cracking of the plastic jerry can during normal riding. Remember that the hot silencer is radiating heat in the form of infrared light, and no contact is necessary to heat up the jerry can.

So enough gasoline for 500 km plus or just burn some in a coleman 442? That's logic....for camping...

    • @ridewithwarro

yeah i would say 500 would be a safe bet. you dont want to push your luck with a fuel injection pump. they are expensive to replace and the petrol keeps them cool.

Would be nice if Honda would reproduce the original auxiliary tank set up as an accessory ...only make the tank out of plastic.....who on earth would not buy it ? Sitting on a gold mine.

warro you need to watch that ye wife dont lean back on the milk crate well going up hill on off roads bud if ye putting the cam gear in it. maybe put 2x bolts with washers from under the rack. as if you hit a big pot hole / rut going up hill it will knock her back m8. bit like going down hill off road 2 up you can smack helmets some times. had me my m8 do it when he has hit ruts and smack the brakes on.

That's what I'm looking to do with my CT110. But if the cable ties work, I think I'd like that better. I'd be interested in getting the main man's input though... Why DIDN'T you bolt it down?
