My great grandmother is 81 and she said that she went to a dance...a sock hop... with her friends and met a boy from another school. A couple of weeks later at another dance that boy gave her a corsage and kisses her hand and her cheek. She was 16 and he was 18...they will celebrate their 65 years of dating and 63 years of marriage in August. She said that their first dance was to Little Anthony....the first dance at their wedding was Little Anthony...he is the first song played every anniversary for them...and they still dance together!!! Thank you Little Anthony..........

My Father passed in June 2022. He didn't have anything physical to leave..in fact we had him in my home for Hospice. We made sure his last days were filled with the music of his time and family. I can recall the last time he was responding. In The end we played just the beautiful sounds of nature. My Fathers Legacy for me is his teaching of doing what's right which I did in the end, but he also leaves a Legacy to me of the music of his youth which Little Anthony and the Imperials are part of. It has had a profound impact to me as a musician. His memories of this music of his youth are mine in the 1970's via CBS FM in New York. When I hear these songs, they are also my childhood memories. He couldn't play an instrument and he sand like Edith Bunker but what an influence in my musical education. With that any time I listen to this music he's with me.....

I remember as a kid listening to my older brother's and sister's music and Little Anthony and James Brown was definitely included in their repertoire. My twin brothers always went to James Brown concerts.. Music was a big part of our lives such that our mother saw to it that we learned to play instruments. But Little Anthony can still sing really well in old age. I saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show years ago too.

This is an absolutely stunning documentary about a wonderful group I have heard and loved all my life. TJ has outdone himself. The reason I sought out this video is because Little Anthony and the Imperials will be touring with the Happy Together Tour this summer and I have tickets. Anthony is about 82 years old now, as are many artists on the tour. I am really looking forward to this concert! Long live Little Anthony!

Thanks so very much for this program. I met Little Anthony in Cleveland ,Ohio in 1965. I was a side musician on a date at LEO'S CASINO. I was working with Smokey Robinson and the Miracles at that time. Man what a time .I look back and tell my grandchildren who I worked with the people I have met, they just look at me you know. But programs like this keeps the memory strong in my head and guys like myself who were around and played this music. Thanks so very much for this.

A lot of people don't know during the late 70s one of their members who is back with them now and he's on stage in all the clips shown here was a member of the Ojays and enjoyed great success with them when one of their members died. When the Imperials reunited he left the Ojays after spending around 20 years or more with them to get back with the Imperials. In case anyone is wondering I'm talking about Sammy Strain, what a blessing to have success in not just one group but two.

Well, let me tell you that it hurts so bad
It makes me feel so bad
It's gonna hurt so bad if you walk away
Why don't you stay and let me make it up to you
Stay I'll do anything you want me to
You loved me before please love me again
I can't let you go back to him

Goin’ Out of My Head Lyrics
    [Chorus]
Well, I think I'm going out of my head
Yes, I think I'm going out of my head
    Over you
    Over you
    [Verse 1]
I want you to want me
    I need you so badly
I can't think of anything but you
    [Chorus]
And I think I'm going out of my head (Out of my head)
'Cause I can't explain the tears I shed (No, out of my head)
    Over you
    Over you
    [Verse 2]
    I see you each morning
But you just walk past me
You don't even know that I exist
    [Refrain]
Goin' out of my head over you (Out of my head)
Out of my head over you (Out of my head)
Out of my head day and night
    Night and day and night
    Wrong or right
    [Bridge]
I must think of a way
    Into your heart
    There's no reason why
    My being shy
    Should keep us apart
    [Chorus]
And I think I'm going out of my head
Yes, I think I'm going out of my head

Im thrilled the memories brighten my day at 72 yrs old my recall in my school yard dancing to shimmy. I was in 4th grade that song gathered everyone together we all came from different back grounds and for that moment time stood still. We need this again to love and respect one another. Peace To Anthony bless you!

It's like this from the beginning we sang . As a child Jennie had it as well as her Mom and her sister. But it's so strange they were called to sing spiritual songs. It made a person wonder what they would of become. 😢but we think the Lord for the road they are on today.

Wow! Began seeing him live while at The Citadel in late sixties. Just saw him live in Jacksonville, Fla. Still one of the greatest voices ever. Blessed to have heard him often.

I had the great good fortune to have stayed late at my Music Center of LA office one day when the guard calls to say Mr. Gourdine is there asking if my boss was still in. I didn't recognize the name immediately but went downstairs to take a message since my boss was gone for the day. Mr. Gourdine introduced himself saying "you may be too young but you may remember me when I was known as Little Anthony." He had worked with my boss on a project some time back and stopped by to say hello. My mouth dropped open and I was FLOORED having Little Anthony there before me and of course, I gushed all over him and offered to walk around with him to see who he might know that still worked there. He was so humble and gracious and I was so thrilled to find a writer there who was as much a music fan as I and we both lost our minds with joy to meet and spend a little time with him!

The most Underrated group. Just as significant as James Brown was in the 1960's. But in the 1950's.
