    The song was recorded live in Las Vegas on ‘The Royal Affair Tour’, and appears on John’s new album ‘The Royal Affair and After’ due for release on December 3rd. This video features John and his 10,000 Light Years Band - Alan Hewitt, Billy Ashbaugh, Duffy King and Jason Charboneau - and together they bring an incredible energy to this recording, and always get the audience up and dancing!
    “‘Long time no see’… those opening words to Gemini Dream resonate even more with me today - what was true in 1981 has become true again in 2021. The song is about balancing ‘twin’ lives - touring musicians, and non-touring musicians. I finished my tour on March 8, 2020, and was in lockdown within days, but I never expected to be off the road for this long… Although this was a forced ‘sojourn’, it was a creative time, writing and recording new songs and a time well-spent with family, but as the song says, “the time is right” to get back on the road. Let’s keep that Gemini Dream alive for all of us…..and thank you for keeping the faith.” John Lodge.

    Love it, but clearly a good deal of studio-recorded backing tracks. It's not my favorite practice in concerts. But John still performing with all the enthusiasm, talent and passion he's always had on classic and new songs is something to be treasured. Hope to see you in concert in the US, John.

    Dare I say this sounds better than latter day Moodies ? John and this band are back in the groove like they were when Patrick Moraz was touring LDV with them. Fantastic, welcome back. It’s great having John and Justin doing solo gigs, we’ve now got two great concerts to attend instead of one.

    Dang,very,very solid performance.Hard to believe I'm 56 and John is old enough to be my dad,and hard to believe John and Justin's kids are just a few years younger than me.Johns backup high vocals are dead on.And of course Days of Future Past to this day here in 2022 STILL gives me chills and goose bumps,and forever will.They mixed the orchestra in perfectly despite not actually playing with the Moodies.The 50 year anniversary concert was mind blowing how it sounded exactly like the album.On that old video of John's song A Beautiful Dream where the audience is dancing all around them are any of their girlfriends or wives in the audience.?

      @Lionheart Roar: John Lodge is a personable guy, of course. Unfortunately I have to agree ("...he's not a lead singer"). Perhaps about 30 years ago John Lodge was a reasonable vocalist (2nd voice/backing- vocal), but as a very big Moody Blues fan I have been of the opinion for many years that John unfortunately only has a mediocre lead vocals. Even then, when his solo LP "Natural Avenue" was released (1977), I got a big shock and I only heard this LP once. I bought the LP because I'm a fan of the Moodies. His voice has no special or interesting tonal coloring that makes you sit up and take notice in a positive sense. And here with this new so-called live production, I don't want to know how many tracks have been recorded afterwards in the studio and, above all, the vocal tracks have been manipulated, with "Autotune" and Co. I don't know what is called "live" here. should accept. Even with a Freddy Mercury production from 1974, "Autotune" was used heavily in a subsequent release. At Freddy Mercury! ......

    • @djmcnerney
      @djmcnerney 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overall, his songs and his singing voice are weaker than Justin Hayward’s. Ray Thomas would have helped out a lot with the vocals. He had a very rich voice.

    • @djmcnerney
      @djmcnerney 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He was lucky to be in the band, for sure. His bass-playing is good, but his other contributions to the band are very uneven. Occasionally he strikes gold with a strong song like Singer in a Rock ‘n Roll Band or Shadows on the Wall or 10,000 Light Years, but most of his material is drek, and I would find it VERY difficult to sit through a whole concert of his. Gemini Dream, which I like, and which I think is the best song in Lodge’s live set, was co-written by Hayward. He needs a lot of help from the other guys.

    • @timetryp422
      @timetryp422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@djmcnerney Justin Hayward has had a very successful post Moody Blues career. He can recreate the essence of the band single handedly, with a few back up musicians. Now he has an extensive video library on You Tube. I assume his public venues are now limited, due to age and the lack of necessity to tour for any other reason than pleasure. For Lodge, playing the bass guitar is minimal contribution to a band and his song writing was sparse. But I imagine his part in the band made him a comfortable fortune, so he is in no dire straits.

    • @DarrellNutt
      @DarrellNutt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@timetryp422 Wow. Why so harsh? John is a very talented musician and a really great person. I don't understand why people leave negative comments on a video of someone performing their chosen artform. If I see a video and I don't like the performance, I don't say anything, I just move on - not for me. It wouldn't occur to me to leave a negative comment.
