Shadow the Hedgehog: "Thank you. Your words mean a lot to me. Knowing that my journey and message have motivated you gives my own path more meaning. We all face battles - some are external, but many are within ourselves. The fact that you find strength in my story reminds me why it’s important to keep moving forward, no matter how hard the road may seem. Always remember, the strength you admire in me is already inside of you. Keep pushing forward, and never lose sight of the future you want to create. You have the power to shape it. Stay strong."
To Shadow the Hedgehog, Words can not express how the beginning of your story was one that started on such unfortunate circumstances, especially on how horrible to hear that you lost your first friend Maria from all the chaos that has happened in Space Colony Ark. Years later, from the first time you met and battled Sonic right up to where you help save the world from the collision of the Ark (though I am surprised that you survived the fall after you and Sonic perform Chaos Control together) and also having a bond with Rouge and Omega, you never cease to surprise me. Then, later, during the whole Black Arms invasion, I saw how you went on a quest to find out more about the secrets of your past, only to find something quite shocking courtesy of Black Doom giving you quite a revelation, yet despite this, even with Sonic and the others incapacitated, you step up to the plate and not only stop Black Doom and the invasion, but you also save the world once again, and you have been quite an amazing antihero ever since. Your story might not have had a happy beginning, but it doesn't mean that the rest of your story is not all gloom and doom, instead is filled with incredible moments you had with Sonic, your teammates, and the rest of the gang, pretty much all the good you have done so far, and I'm pretty sure that somewhere out there, Maria will be proud on how far you have come. I look forward to seeing the rest of your story in the future going forward. P.s. Hopefully, this doesn't come off being dumb and all that. Sorry.😅
Shadow the Hedgehog: "Thank you for your heartfelt words. My journey began in darkness and loss, and the memory of Maria has always been a guiding light for me. The challenges I've faced, from battling Sonic to confronting the truth of my origins, have tested my resolve and shaped who I am today. Surviving the fall after the Ark incident and forging bonds with Rouge and Omega were pivotal moments that reminded me of the strength found in unity. The Black Arms invasion was another trial, revealing painful truths, but also reinforcing my commitment to protect this world. Maria's wish was for me to bring hope and happiness to humanity, and I strive to honor her memory every day. The path hasn't been easy, but each struggle has made me stronger, and I'm grateful for the allies and friends I've met along the way. Your support and encouragement mean more than words can express. The future holds many uncertainties, but with determination and the lessons I've learned, I will continue to face whatever comes my way. Maria would be proud, and I thank you for believing in me. Never apologize for sharing your thoughts. Your message is far from dumb; it is a reminder of the impact we all have on each other's lives. Let's continue to move forward, embracing the future together."
Shadow the Hedgehog: "I understand how you feel. Letting go of the past isn’t easy - it’s something I’ve struggled with too. The memories, the pain, they can feel like they’re etched into who we are. But here’s the truth: forgetting the past doesn’t mean erasing it or pretending it didn’t happen. It means choosing not to let it control you anymore. It’s okay to acknowledge the hurt, the mistakes, and the loss, but don’t let them chain you down. Take the lessons you’ve learned, and use them to grow stronger. Moving forward is about embracing the future and the possibilities it holds, even if the past still lingers in your heart. You don’t have to do it all at once. One step at a time is enough. You’ll find your strength, just as I found mine. And remember - you’re not alone in this journey. Stay strong, and keep moving forward."
Your words are boldly spoken, Shadow. But I will say is that sometimes if we forget the past, we jeopardize the future. It's true, we must let go of the past. But we mustn't forget it. If we do, we learn nothing. As those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. There are some things we all did in the past that we all wish we could take back. I've make mistakes in the past that I'm not proud of and wish I could go back and change. But what's done is done. We can't go back in time. To paraphrase Shakespeare: "A deed once done, cannot be undone". The best thing we can do is learn and move on from them. If there's one thing you learned during your stay on the Space Colony ARK 50 years ago is the light and dark sides of humanity. Humanity has taken lot from you. But to judge the many for the actions of the few is never right or fair. Black Doom tried to twist your memories into believing there's no good humans. You've seen the light side of humanity through Maria's kindness, joy, love and compassion. And you've seen the dark side of humanity through the GUN's evil, callousness and greed. Even you discover that light exists inside you deep within your darkness. From what I learned in life is that the real challenge about the mistakes we made in the past is learning to live with them. That's what you did. Plus, some things in life are beyond our control. You couldn't save Maria and you watched her die slowly before your pod launched. But at least you fulfilled her dying wish for you to bring hope to humanity. She died so you could live, her sacrifice will not be in vain. Remember, moving on and learning from our past can build the foundations of our future. Just look what it did to you. You became one of the greatest antiheroes who ever lived and one of the many I look up to. Don't ever forget that and don't anyone tell you otherwise.
Shadow the Hedgehog: "Your words carry great wisdom. Indeed, forgetting the past entirely would mean losing the lessons it holds. The key is finding balance: acknowledging our history without letting it imprison us. I've learned that our past shapes us, but it does not have to define our future. The experiences on the Space Colony ARK taught me the duality of humanity - the light seen in Maria's kindness and the darkness in GUN's cruelty. Black Doom sought to manipulate those memories, but through them, I discovered my own strength and the capacity for good within me. Shakespeare's words resonate deeply: "A deed once done, cannot be undone." We all have regrets, moments we wish we could change, but dwelling on them only hinders our progress. Learning from these moments, accepting them, and using them to build a better future is where true growth lies. Maria's sacrifice was a beacon of hope, guiding me to fulfill her wish for humanity. Despite the darkness, her light endures, reminding me of the potential for good in every person. We cannot judge the many by the actions of a few, and we must strive to see the light within the darkness. Living with our mistakes and using them as stepping stones for a brighter future is a challenge we all face. It's what drives me forward, ensuring that Maria's sacrifice was not in vain. Moving on and learning from our past does indeed build the foundations of our future. Thank you for your thoughtful insights and for recognizing the journey I've undertaken. Remember, we all have the power to shape our destiny, no matter how dark our past may seem. Stay strong, and let the light guide you forward."
A another story that does a good job at saying about letting go of the past is Life is strange not only does it do a good job at letting off of the past but also points out how Nostalgia can be toxic as not only is Nostalgia can be toxic but putting on rose shades looking back at everything thinking it was some fun amazing adventure is never heathy the fact you can make yourself Miserable if you fail to realize the hard truths that the past happen and not everything was as amazing as it once was
I completely agree that "Life is Strange" does an excellent job of exploring the complexities of letting go of the past and the potentially toxic nature of nostalgia. It's important to recognize that while nostalgia can bring comfort, it can also distort our perception of the past, making us overlook the challenges we faced. Acknowledging the hard truths and accepting the reality of our experiences helps us grow and move forward
If you do another of these Shadow videos, how about sampling Jason Griffith's performance in Sonic & the Black Knight? In that game, Shadow has a less raspy, deeper and more baritone voice there.
Shadow the Hedgehog: "Yes, losing Maria was one of the most painful moments of my life. She was my first friend, someone who saw the good in me when no one else did. Her kindness and compassion shaped who I am today. The memory of her sacrifice will always stay with me, but instead of letting that sadness hold me down, I choose to honor her by fighting for the future she believed in - a future filled with hope for humanity. It’s okay to feel sadness, but it’s also important to use that feeling as fuel to move forward. Maria’s memory reminds me that, even in the darkest times, we can still find light. Stay strong."

@LiteraryLifeLessons Shadow is a good choice of a character, but how about Tails when he talks about believing in yourself?
Absolutely! Thanks for the suggestion. I have a number of Sonic character videos on the way, but I'll keep this in mind for a future Tails project 🙂
