Bus Grease Monkey works on these detroit diesels for a living. Check out his youtube. He's pulled those injectors and freed them up several times when they were just as stuck.
Can’t believe none of these lube 🙊 bus jacker fans noticed that you guys lucked out BIG TIME getting a 318 powered truck with Jakes already on it!! That full jake setup is worth close to what you probably payed for the whole truck!
Well I'm going to tell you this about generations I'm only 20 years old but when it comes down to an old two-stroke Detroit I'm like a 60-year-old man loving a truck driving I love a two-stroke Detroit especially when they're straight pipe and especially a needle nose peterbilt can't say no both that's in my book
Parts for that Engine [new ones] from Luke at US Coach. They still have tons of old Buses on the road using these old 2 strokes they supply to in the RV world. IF you want more horses up the size of the injectors... do something with a new blower probably. Make sure you check the rack and make sure you don't have anything stuck in there otherwise you may have a runaway situation [so get ready to choke off the fuel or Air or both if you don't check the rack for stuck injectors]. Easy enough to free those up by popping out the injectors and running some cleaner through them and popping the top plunger with a mallet and moving the yada yada yada... just cleaning off the crud essentially then Kroil to the moving parts... Sorry i type to fast for my own good. LOVE this truck!!
Step ONE. Pull the valve covers. Tap the injectors to see if they are free and not seized. Pull the pins on the rack. Move the rack by hand. Check for free movement of the fuel rack BEFORE trying to start. That was way too much starting fluid. If it started and had seized rack. Be prepared to cover the intake. Because engines do not run away, mechanics run away. Engines only over speed! Thanks for the memories.
Man what an amazing startup video. Can you please situate the camera so we can see what you're doing inside the cab with the pedals and controls too while cranking these old beasts? So cool!
were those rockwell axles? i thinkng i have the same ones on my autocar (model) anyhoo, good content. psst... try marvel mystery oil on the sticky bits.
Those are “top loader” Rockwell rears, EXTREMELY heavy duty but usually geared far too low for road use. Most I’ve seen are in the 6-7:1 range giving a top speed around 50 mph with an overdrive trans
Quit shooting starting fluid at it would be the first step many steps to bringing a ole 2 stroke back to life safely it will fire when it gets diesel and air
It's at the body shop getting some body work done then coming up to the fab shop to get the frame stretched. Should hopefully have a video on that here soon!
this old girl is a beauty she need to be back on the road keep on going guys

Love the truck.....it looks like the autocar truck from movie OVER THE TOP but only the truck from the movie is an autocar

Injector fuel rack seized! Pull the fuel lines off. Spray with penetrating oil. Move rack back and forth. Helps most of the times. Good luck.

Keep a flat board big enough to cover that intake pipe handy incase that flappers stuck or hung up
Got 2 good things 1. it's got jake brakes and the steel aluminum frame isn't rust jacked from what I've seen .

Glad to see u back. Thought u quit us 😃
Just had a lot going on. More about that in the next video!
Pull injector lines spray penetrating oil tap top of injector with brass punch good thing it didn't start 2 valve will hold all injectors full fuel

What you have to do is pull the injectors out and you just take a brass hammer or somthing and tap the injector rod back and forth until it frees up
With sprays of Seafoam Deepcreep between tapping sessions. Don't tap too hard!
Best wishes
HOPE YOU CAN GET THEM FIXED BACK INTO WORKING TRUCKS AND MAYBE EVEN PUT AIR RIDE ON THEM.
I see shes got some fire truck parts on it too

You correct about the horsepower rating there's a 260 a 290 a 318 and the Turbo Charge after cooled version was 350
An 8V71TA was 370hp. I had all the Detroit brochures.
Take corn oil it cleans and will free up
What are the outer dimensions on the grill/radiator? It looks tiny compared to the 359. Amazing it could keep the engine cool.
Not sure actually 🤔
Quit shooting starting fluid at it would be the first step many steps to bringing a ole 2 stroke back to life safely it will fire when it gets diesel and air
Paint it like duel
I think that was the idea thats why we got it😂
Nice but need more please thanks markUK
Where's this truck today?

@@weekendrestoration1498 incredible! Quick response. Can't wait to see it. Cheers from Australia.
As my father told me "a Detroit Diesel was a device created to turn perfectly serviceable diesel fuel into smoke and noise".
Corn oil like you cook with wil work
Something tells me that it hasn't been running for a long time.
Thats exactly what we were thinking as well
RAD • IATOR
ws 40 is not a good lube a great spray is KRIOL
2 stroke not 2 cycle.
its a 350 or a 351
You may want to expand on your comment I don't think anyone knows what you mean
@@briansignorelli7090 a year has past lol i mean to a 281 or 351
Put a cat in it
8v71 not the 318 that's a 6 inline no blower only a turbo
all x-71 DDs have a blower. would not start without it. turbo plus blower on the turbos. 8v71 is 318hp
Hey Shane explain yourself a little bit so we understand what you mean please
No it's a 318 straight up with just the blower
@@briansignorelli7090 seems simple enough to me.
