The 2.3 doesn't need any more power it beat every other single midsize truck on tfl and that was even with most of the other trucks having more power and torque band the ranger.
It’s 5k cheaper than the average new car sold…. So for a new 4dr pickup truck with a frame, that’s cheap, not click-bait, min wage in California is now $20/hr soooo
From what I saw tailgate is dampened but also some sort of torsion to help it lift also. Good idea. Wonder how much is aluminum. My 21 ranger tremor has aluminum tailgate, hood and front fenders.
You will find that Ford uses a SPONGY material on top of the windowsills and dashboard that does give when you put weight on it. I have no problem putting my arm on windowsill on my Escape. It does give. And to me the XL offers the best value with some smart options that you really need instead of want.
@@jeffk464that is a difficult to find option. I think the real difference for me are the availability of the turbo v6 and higher payloads in the Ranger vs long bed in the Tacoma, maybe better reliability?
@@marklihsu Yeah I agree the Ranger is the best in class for mid size. The only deal killer is the lack of a LWB. Other then that the Ranger is the better/more capable truck then the taco.

Great value, people are still living in the last decade pricing wise. I’ll take the 2.3 ecoboost with the 10-Speed it’s great comb. Midsize Crew Cab 4WD, Locking Diffs with some nice features at $45k is value.
Your out of touch. The incremental in the last years has been way more than inflation and is not justified. People that accept the current prices are wrong and part of the problem.
@@davidzavala337you’re out of touch yourself, everything is significantly higher than pre 2019. Already forgotten the AUW strikes adding %25 to labor costs plus the already skyrocketing material costs. All these get passed on to the consumer. Also Ranger has grown to the midsize segment and so the price reflects that. Online I built a similar equipped Tacoma and it’s more. A Nissan is slightly less
I agree Ford made a mistake. IN fact they should have engineered a LWB CC as well. They are always so fearful of canalizing their beloved F150 that are literally rotting on the lots at 70K. They need to make the Ranger their main product. But that plant just does not have the capacity.
I really hate videos with thumbnails that say "affordable insert truck name here" titles, not a single truck of any size is affordable. The ranger should start in the 20s, and the top trim should be high 30s. a base model or mid level trim small truck should not be anywhere near 40k let alone almost 50. I'll let some sucker waste that money, and I'll buy it used a year or two from now at a much better price point.
T6.2 is OK. T6 is a proven reliability product with a physical vehicle manual.😁Ford did it again, excluded (map) pouch behind driver seat of XLT and still using rear bench seat, no split. T6.2 gets "charging pad" (does not work with many phones). Ford T6.2 excludes two very convenient T6 12 volt outlets, because of the increased size of T6.2 infotainment screen. We are so OVER this fake "Covid inflation game!" I hope behind the scenes you are tellingly them in no uncertain terms that they've got to bring these prices way down pdq before the next economic crash hits hard later this year or NOBODY will be able to or even want to pay anywhere near their crap prices afterwards....
Inflation is up everywhere unfortunately. Look at what the price to live is now compared to 4 years ago. Everything has gone up. It’s not the mfg fault. If anything the non-Toyota mfg are doing the best they can to deliver value. If you want to do something about inflation look at who you are voting for that has more effect than asking a TH-camr to do something about it.
@marklihsu "Vote...?" Go somewhere! TH-cam influencers certainly have an important role to play decreasing demand by encouraging people to reject over-inflated prices!
They are very cheap. The average new car today is 50k, this is 5k cheaper. That means to get a fully functioning truck, family vehicle, and it’s a higher trim, and with all of that you’re still saving 5k. It’s a really good deal if you think about it
Nope. I'll have a Nissan Frontier w/the 3.8L V6. If Toyota pulls the V6 from the '25 4Runner next year, we're all going to be living in a world of 4-banger mid-sized pickups. No thanks. Stick with my 4.0L 6 spd manual 4WD Frontier. Simple, durable. If Ford wants to bring back the 2.9L Cologne 5-spd V6, yeah I'd be listening. Can't fall out of bed anymore w/o hitting something with a turbo.
I have a '23 Frontier Pro-X that I tow and haul with. I love it, but man, the higher payload of the Fords and GM twins is SO much better. 1500-1700 lbs compared to 1000-1200 lbs in the Frontier. That's a big difference. I really wish the Frontier was more competitive in that regard.
Nice review, but this generation of Ranger is so plain and has no style in my opinion. I used to own a 98 Ranger and loved it. Your review on the Pro 4X opened my eyes to it. Thanks.
I want to like the rangers so bad. I like the look on the exterior of this mid cycle refresh and I like the older ones but I just can’t do it. Wheres the tachometer?
I like that it still starts with a turn of the key
Can you confirm whether or not the North American Ranger requires the installation of J braces in order to mount anything over 88lbs above the box?
Yeah of your mounting a box you need the j braces at the front of the bed.
A very quiet truck.
The new ranger is a good looking truck. I'm just waiting to see if Ford will actually offer the 2.7L engine as an option.
Yes they did.
