Hell yeah man. When I pulled my 60e out of my 97 the first time. I gave the body some love taps where the upper 3 bellhousing bolts are to make it easier to get a socket around. Cant wait to see you at cleetus and cars this weekend.
Bushing replacement in an Auto is a lost art. What a pain. I used to think a THM400 was the simplest transmission until the 6L80 came out. #nomorebuilding4L60s
here I cry pulling my 2j apart. I done one standard auto box in my life off a BMW. never again. New found respect for guys working the transmissions. Good to see you ready for C&C. no leroy to line up against but Ruby is up for a ass beating. just awesome seeing all the different crews in one event again. always seems like a good time
This guy rebuilding the transmission has got some sexxy cars. That pick up has to make some stink to run that well at elevation. Hope to see the vert hang them wheels man
thanks for this video bro I got a 1990 Sierra with a turbo 400 4 in messed it up a while back went back to a 700R not quite as happy it's not really a race truck but one hell of a burnout machine gave me some insight to how I f***** it up mine is also bolt in driveshaft screw that who needs bolts
Thanks for the Video..... Really glad to see you get the car back together. It just would not be right if you didn't make it to C&C..... I hope you make some great passes with all your new gear.
Those drum steel pistons looked like they had never been machined down. When running the Alto Red Eagle clutches and Kolene plates you need more clearance, so I think whoever built the transmission set it up to tight.
Please make it to Cleetus and cars! Its on my birthday this year and I cant go lol. It's one of the few events I would really like to see one day. Please get some good videos of sketchy killing it down there!
taylor harper I’m sorry to hear you couldn’t make it. I want to wish you a happy Birthday hope it was a good one. Unfortunately I only had time for one pass. I was so busy talking to fans time just flew by.
This reminds me of issues my old expedition had. You could hear the trans groan in protest when under load. I tried draining and refilling the ATF and replacing the filter (didn't fix the issue). Just like sketchy, my trans fluid was burnt instead of the normal clear red. It smelled like ammonia and vomit.
It’s a custom made trailer. I drove 16hours to trade my open trailer for it. I completely redid the flooring and painted it, along with wheels and tires.
Man if I had a nickel for every time I had to do this. Direct clutch issues I'd say, I'm surprised there is any material left on those clutches. The B&M waffle cut clutches are superior to these. Was hoping to see bushing replacement.
I'm kind of surprised you have got by this long with the hp/weight on a totally stock case. Wonder where the line really is I've seen people shell them with way less hp I'm sure.
I would like to have seen if the planatary and sun gears were spiral cut or straight cut out of a moter home, straight cut make a little noise but it's not trying to push the guts out of the back of the traney, if you use spiral use a tale shaft bushing out of a Ford it has a shoulder on one side and you put it in from the inside To keep it form walking out the back and eating up the nylon gear on the governor
Glad to see someone knows there 400 secrets lol how about this one replace output thrust washers with the flat roller from behind front pump of th350 and the cast intermidiate drum with steal on from 545 allison .....there is alot more secrets lol
@@goopyspoopy9926 sounds like you know more than me. I never liked putting a Ford bushing in my Chevy just went against the grain? @@patrickjohnson7801 and I have seen pump bushings walk out but never an output shaft bushing if we had seen that then probably retire the case to street car lol
I'm kind of surprised how little some of these guys know about their own cars. I understand not everyone is a mechanic that knows every little thing but still. And yeah, burnt transmission fluid smells like a dumpster full of very old rotten eggs in the Arizona sun.
This guy sounded like he didn’t even know what’s a transmission was... just goes to show you can have money but no common sense. When he said “ I put the gasket on” he sounded so proud lol
@@brandonb5298 . Since when did Sketchy have to much money. Why does he have to know what's inside his transmission. A lot of Guys Know heaps about cars but would not no anything about a transmission. Ease up a bit on Him. I think it's good He is learning and showing everyone else.
All right sketch is back my brother and I will see you at Cleetus and Cars Houston save my brother Daniel and our blue freedom machine burn out truck a spot we will be in Thursday evening.
When drag racing you don't want to shift into OD unless you want to ruin the auto trans. 2 speed, 3 speed or 4 speed all that matters is when crossing the traps you're in your 1:1 gear. Oversimplified but you get the idea.

Good job Sketchy the builder isn't giving you a hard time for learning the only way to know is getting in there!

Just another testament to how strong the th400 is even setup completely wrong before the rebuild.

Can we get a look at the GN at the beginning on the video?

Yep, some do the flush and fill... but that leads to other issues, like not having the friction material in the fluid that was making it work.
A lot of people dont like these firebirds because of the camaros. I honestly like the look of these. More of the 2000s instead of 90s
I think it is beautiful, especially a vert in this color!
WHAT SIZE PLUG DID YOU USE IN THE CASE
Ever considered a built Powerglide?
Please ask your boy where the chin spoiler on the Nova came from
Nice trans build. I assume you flushed the lines and cooler?
He doesn't work on cars, so the answer would be no.
Yeah we did flush the lines they were terrible.
Any idea what upgrade parts he prefer using? In the trans
I like the music he listens to
Badass nova
I know where that is. Buddy does alarms and auto starts right across the building
What trailer is that that sketchy was loaded in before the storm hit? Looked super low profile I like it!

Gonna make it to cleetus and cars?
I've got the luxury of working that day 🙄
