    Thanks for sharing Peak I’ve never painted one of my own rifles before. Your rifle...like you said... is a one of a kind because you did it yourself. I just might try that on my next build 👍🏻

      @@Thedunguen9999 yes they’re crazy expensive right now; I was able to scoop mine up through a series of events caused by perfect planetary alignments.
      What do you think of yours?
      Like I said in my First Shots video on the X95, I’m going to do a deep dive after I’ve put some serious time under it, and I can say thus far that though I do really enjoy this rifle, there are DEFINITELY little gremlins and things that I have experienced in its use that I think are really important for people to be aware of before they drop a good chunk of change on this.
      It’s been completely and utterly reliable, for sure, I’m just over 1k rounds in, but yes definitely some things people should know about it’s design and stuff that I’m going to address in my deep dive.

      Mahalo my friend! I’ve really been thinking about throwing down for the equipment and stuff to start messing with cerakote. Hopefully in the near future I’ll be able to make it happen!
      I started messing around with the whole “battle worn” thing and I think it’s my new jam 😂

    Hey mate, thanks for the video,
    I'm thinking about painting my tavor too (the TAN one), can you describe which paint did you use ?
    Why don't you put some varnish ?
    and last point, how the paint stayed with times since you painted it ?
    Thanks a lot

    • @PeaK808

      Aloha nō my friend thanks for checking out my video!
      So I just used Rustoleum paint in their camouflage line. Krylon works also, and it doesn’t really matter what colors as long as they are flat with no gloss whatsoever and in whatever color palette that works for you.
      I don’t put any type of enamel on to seal the pattern because even if the finish of the clear coat is designated as “flat” there will still be some shine to it, and it’s my opinion that flatter is better when it comes to this kind of thing with as little gloss as possible.
      Like I said in the video, it’s paint and not cerakote or anything like that so it will fade and rub off. To me, I think it looks better the more worn it gets and when it really starts getting to the point where there’s nothing left, just start the process over again.
      To answer your question it’s been about a year or so since I’ve shot this video and my rifle still looks great. I use the absolute shut out of my kit, so it’s been thrown around and all kinds of things; it’s still holding up.
      If you follow me on Instagram @paakaula_ or find me on FB or something I can send you a picture of what my x95 looks like currently.
      Have a great weekend and Aloha Kalikimaka!

    Wait, you’re saying to spray it with brake cleaner BEFORE you tape it??

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, brake cleaner first, make sure it dries out completely, then you can tape or stencil and apply paint🤙🏾

    • @19jtown
      @19jtown 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeaK808 but still tape up parts to cover internals first, right? Just not the design portions you’re referring to?

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@19jtown sorry if I wasn’t being clear in the video! My bad✊🏾. First you spray down your firearm with brake cleaner, this will degrease the surfaces to be painted/taped for better adherence.
      After the brake cleaner is completely dry, go ahead and tape up everything you don’t want to get paint on or in (mag well, safety, ejection port, etc)

    • @19jtown
      @19jtown 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeaK808 thanks for your response. So you’re not concerned with the brake cleaner getting sprayed into open ports of the gun?

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@19jtown No, I’m not concerned because once my paint dries and everything is done I disassemble and re lubricate everything again.
      The brake cleaner evaporates completely and removes residue and oils so paint and tape adhere better, but yes, you will have essentially clean and lube afterwards.
