Thanks Anne. I built a teardrop base and have been playing it for 3 years now, This exercise is right where I'm at. I also enjoy bowing an I've found it's a good way to keep the neighborhood cats away.
Hey Anne! This just showed up in my feed. Great exercise and great playing! Just wanted to throw you the suggestion to maybe lower your end pin a bit. It would take some getting used to I'm sure, but I think over the long term you'll be putting less strain on your shoulder and wrist in your left arm. Hope you're having a lovely holiday and Merry Christmas!
Nicely explained! Your fingering technique isn't Simandl, what is it? That bass seems pretty killer and has a nice tone in your hands. Not enough 5-string uprights around these days. Respect, Ms. Luna.
Thank you! Actually, from my classical training days and Simandl books, I think this fingering sure follow the Simandl recommendations with half steps between the index and middle fingers, as well as between the middle and pinky when in the lower positions, and a whole step between the index and pinky (and subbing the ring finger up the neck for the pinky). The 5-string is a beast! But worth it, I think ☺️ Thanks for the comment and taking time to check things out here!

Fun! The teardrop shape is so lovely. Bowing definitely elicits a response! 😸
Nicely presented and clear! 🙏🙏🦋

this was one of the first I was shown. I still like it.
Nice! It's definitely effective!
Excellent! Someday you should talk about listening to your band members and reacting to them because you're GREAT at that.
Thanks! Great idea!
Thank you for the tutorial, I will use it . Just what I need .
You're welcome! Glad you can use this-it's an exercise I return to again and again.
