lol, I just have a seven foot gutter with a down spout at end that I put on the end of my electric leaf blower and just blow those leaves right out of there!
But then you have to pick them up! LOL I know, this thing is kind a pain, it plugs the hole and is more like one of those helping hands. Thanks for the fun comment!
I would think a heavy duty backpack vacuum and doing it from the roof would be easier, and you can get everything without having to guess when it's clean.
Do all the extension pieces stay together? Would hate to lose the end pieces on roof and have to pay someone to retrieve them. Do you recommend this unit?
I made this video a while ago for at a friend's request, if your gutters are wide and open like in this picture, and you are not going over 1 story high, I would say it works so so, but it is a pain in the butt. if the leaves are wet you will have more troubles, if they are dry and large leaves, you will vacuum about a foot and have to bring the hose down to clear it. The leaves in this video are small. Lets say you are vacuuming in the house and you suck up a piece of paper, if the paper folds up just right it's gone into the bag, but even if the vacuum can suck it up and the paper or doesn't fold right, it get stuck on the tip and you have fold and force it in. Well that's what the larger leaves do on this most of the time. As for recommendation, no more than 1 story, smaller leaves, large gutter openings (the roof shingles cover them partially at times) this will work OK with some struggles. higher than that, larger leaves, or if you need the smaller tip installed.... this will not work for you. AS for the hoses staying on, I jammed it on very hard and not too many problems, you could tape them together with duct tape to solve that. In the end, I go up there with a ladder and no longer use this, my house is not that high, and that tree in the video is now gone. The plastic hose gets heavy after a while. I hope this helps answer your question. and this was not staged, I put the gopro up there to see how it worked, the leaves are small and dry in this case. you can feel and hear when it clogs or sucks up the leaves, that's how I knew when to keep moving and this was not the first time using this setup. Some other person commented about how it was guided... it's not. good luck finding something that works for you.
@mark potter sorry I clicked on the wrong thing and removed your comment by accident, I meant to remove the notification in my list. You can get more extensions for you vacuum, but it would get quite heavy and hard to handle and control, but it would be possible. I don't use this anymore as the one tree is now gone and my house isn't that high... I just use a ladder.
Hello when I checked Home Depot product description, it says: Fits all RIDGID vacuums with a blowing port for the blowing function (2.5 in. vacuum hose required). About the 2.5 in vacuum hose, could you please explain what kind of vacuum 2.5 inch should I get, and how do you attach it to the vacuum ?
The Gutter Clutter Buster is a better tool for this job, and it has extensions for 2 and 3 story buildings and homes. 100% AMERICAN MADE by American hands.
twigs will stop the end of the hose up. Most of the time. Not all that big of a deal as you can just lower the suction head and remove the twigs. Now, index finger sized sticks tend to stay behind. Those you just have to remove the old way, , , , by hand and a ladder. Be safe! :-D
@@DreamBoulevard I have this unit and it has other attachments that will get twigs and anything that's up there. You have to bring the attachment down and pull the clogged debris off, but it's better than a leaf blower splattering dirt and grime all over your house and windows (i'll never do that again)
The bottom line is how do you know when the gutter is clean????? You gotta get up there and look - so while you are up there - clean the damn gutter!!!
You can go up and inspect (or inspect remotely w/ a smart phone - won't explain that here) but honestly you'll get a feel for it - you'll hear the debris stop flowing in the tube when you know the end of it is in the gutter after a couple passes. You probably need to go up to clean the downspout strainers if you use them anyway so you can take a look then.
Have a look at this guy's solution. Involves 1) an extension pole, 2) paint roller and 3) your cell phone w/video recording capability. th-cam.com/video/-meZaZRcnL8/w-d-xo.html
Bought one and love rigid, clean gutters and my driveway gets needles all over it works great.
I have the craftsman version and love it. Haven't needed a ladder to clean my gutter in about 10 years.
Great video… excellent camera placement. Thank you.
Holy Moly! Nice. I saw others that blow the leaves, but this is much cleaner.
This is exactly what I was looking for to clean my gutter without a ladder!

Some backpack blowers are quite heavy (mine is a John Deere) and roof pitches can be quite steep. A metal roof would also be difficult I would think.
What is a good hp for a shop vac to cleanone and two stories? Also what price ranges are we looking at to charge for this kind of service?

karisma i use the wd19560 or wd16700 or 16400 ridgid vacs in suction mode using high efficiency filter bag & hepa cartridge filter
Which vacuum is this? Thanks
it's a ridgid full size wet dry vac , this particular one is old so part number is outdated

What Ridgid Wet/Vac did you use?
They never answered you. It’s been 9 years. I want an answer as well. Heh
I use a 6.5 hp
...and the twigs?

or stand on the ladder, take the curved end off and suck up the twigs.

and then you have to clean the side of your house, when all the dirty water splatters all over everything

easy only use you camera phone hanging on from a paint pole in a plastic bag
Yep!!! Don't know about the plastic bag bit, but cell phone duct taped to a pole works great. :-D
The bottom line is how do you know when the gutter is clean????? You gotta get up there and look - so while you are up there - clean the damn gutter!!!
You only have to look up one end or you can put a mirror or your phone on a pole and see if its clear.
